Loyalty to the king and country

The Cambridge Dictionary describes 'king' as a man who rules a country because he
has been born into a family which by tradition or law has the right to rule, making it a
high position in the eyes of the community, while 'loyalty' means the quality of always
liking and supporting someone or something. "Loyalty to the king and country"
means always enjoying and supporting the King and Country. Peace and harmony is
the essential requirement of any nation. The citizens of a country feel safe and
secure only if a peaceful environment is maintained. Loyalty to the King is significant
to preserve the peace, harmony, security of people and legacy of the sultanate in the
Malay states since before the era of independence. Besides that, loyalty also means
upholding the noble values advocated by local religions and cultures.
At the same time, we must show our loyalty to the country to avoid violence and
unwanted situations in Malaysia. Commitment to the King and Country does not only
mean showing support to royal institutions but also has important implications in
maintaining the harmony and stability of the country. We need to respect cultural and
religious differences between races and ensure that the rights of each individual are
protected.
His Majesty is responsible for harmonizing and peacekeeping people's lives in
Malaysia. We should be proud under His Majesty's rule, our country has achieved
ethnic tolerance and peace. As obedient citizens loyal to the country, we need to
understand and respect the rules set. Therefore, ensure we always follow the rules,
such as paying taxes on time, respecting the rights of others, and maintaining public
order. The sultanate, which began in the early 15th century with Parameswara, the
founder and first ruler of Malacca who later converted to Islam and used the title of
Sultan Iskandar Shah in 1414, governed the state until it became a port and centre
of international trade. The glory of the Malacca empire, also the first sovereign
government in Malaya, was built due to close cooperation between the government
and the people living in unification. Loyal to the King and country can free the
country from the grip of colonialism, can maintain national harmony, can guarantee a
visionary country, the government can rule on its own axis and able to maintain
political stability.
In addition, people who obey the King and the country will always reason
before taking any action so that their actions do not damage the country's peace. A
person loyal to his country and King will not intend to betray his own country and will
try his best to defend the dignity and nation of his beloved country. The multiracial
community in our country helps each other maintain the country's good name. In
addition, a multiracial society can protect the country from being colonized by foreign
powers and can prevent our country from being invaded by foreign forces such as
terrorists. By being loyal to the monarchy and government, people can
contribute to the nation's welfare, and in doing so, they can help build a stronger,
more prosperous, and peaceful society.
Taking into account Malaysia's position as a country of plural societies, History and
Constitution Expert Prof Datuk Dr Ramlah Adam described the role of the King in
today's Malaysian context as strengthening the unity of the people despite
differences in religion, race and political beliefs. "We must understand that the
current Constitution records the role of the King as head of state, head of state and
head of the Islamic religion. The concept of a Constitutional King is compatible with
the position of the royal institution in ensuring that the relationship between the King
and the people can be strengthened," he said.
In conclusion, several ways of showing loyalty to the King and country
should be prioritized. Practice tolerance in everyday life. In our efforts to uphold
these values, remember to appreciate the spirit of history and the struggle of
freedom fighters. Our shared responsibility is working together to maintain the
country's unity, peace, and prosperity. Therefore, let's commit to loyalty to the King
and government for the good of all parties and future generations.
