Standards
Appendix A: “Safety Precautions, Certifications, and Compliances” contains
product compliance and safety standards.

Restriction on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Compliance

Directive 2002/95/EC—commonly known as the European Union (EU)
Restriction on Hazardous Substances (RoHS)—sets limits on the use of certain
substances found in electrical and electronic equipment. The intent of this
legislation is to reduce the amount of hazardous chemicals that may leach out of
landfill sites or otherwise contaminate the environment during end-of-life
recycling. The Directive takes effect on July 1, 2006, and it refers to the
following hazardous substances:
• Lead (Pb)
• Mercury (Hg)
• Cadmium (Cd)
• Hexavalent Chromium (Cr-V1)
• Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB)
• Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE)
According to this EU Directive, all products sold in the European Union will be
fully RoHS-compliant and “lead-free.” (See our website for more information
on dates and deadlines for compliance.) Spare parts supplied for the repair and
upgrade of equipment sold before July 1, 2006 are exempt from the legislation.
Equipment that complies with the EU directive will be marked with a
RoHS-compliant emblem, as shown in Figure P-1.

Figure P-1. RoHS Compliance Emblem

Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment

(WEEE) Compliance
The European Union (EU) Directive 2002/96/EC on Waste from Electrical and
Electronic Equipment (WEEE) deals with the collection, treatment, recovery,
and recycling of electrical and electronic waste products. The objective of the
WEEE Directive is to assign the responsibility for the disposal of associated
hazardous waste to either the producers or users of these products. Effective
August 13, 2005, producers or users will be required to recycle electrical and
electronic equipment at end of its useful life, and may not dispose of the
equipment in landfills or by using other unapproved methods. (Some EU
member states may have different deadlines.)

In accordance with this EU Directive, companies selling electric or electronic

devices in the EU will affix labels indicating that such products must be prop-
erly recycled. (See our website for more information on dates and deadlines for
compliance.) Contact your local sales representative for information on return-
ing these products for recycling. Equipment that complies with the EU directive
will be marked with a WEEE-compliant emblem, as shown in Figure P-2.

Chapter 1: Introduction

Product Description
The RCP-ABAe control panels are router control panels designed for use with
Harris routing switchers. The panels include easy-to-read alphanumeric
displays, and can be easily programmed using the RouterMapper, the
Microsoft® Windows®1-based configuration utility editor supplied with the
control panel.
For maximum flexibility, the panel can be operated in Logical Control mode. In
Logical Control mode, a database is first defined to describe the overall routing
switcher (i.e., available sources, destinations and levels). From that database,
specific sources and destinations are selected and downloaded to each panel.
Sources and destinations are identified and selected on the panel via
operator-defined categories and indexes (e.g., CAM 1, MON 2, etc.), which
allows you to quickly and easily locate desired sources and destinations.
Operation of the function keys can also be configured via RouterMapper, and
key cap inserts for each programmed key can be printed after the panel is
configured.
For applications where the use of logical source and destination names is not
required, RCP-ABAe panel can be operated in Physical Control mode. In
Physical Control mode the panel will operate using the physical input and
output numbers instead of logical names (categories and indexes). Physical
Control mode requires no additional programming.

Control Panel Sizes

The RCP-ABAe control panels come in one rack unit (1RU) and two rack unit
(2RU) sizes. 1RU models include RCP-ABA1ESBp, RCP-ABA1EMBp, and
RCP-ABA1EXYp panels. 2RU models include RCP-ABA2ESBp,
RCP-ABA2EMBp, and RCP-ABA2EXYp panels.

Examining RCP-ABAe Components

The following sections describe the physical components of the RCP-ABAe
control panels. The descriptions will provide you with the information you need
to make sure these components operate correctly after installation is complete.

Back Panel Connections

The control and power section of the rear panel includes these items:
• One 9-pin RS-232 / RS-422 serial port (see page 15 for serial port pin
assignments)
• One AC input power connector
• One pair of BNC X-Y ports (single looping X-Y)
• Three banks of DIP switches (SW1, SW2, and SW3)
• One RJ-45 Ethernet connection

Figure 2-1. RCP-ABAe Power and Control Connections

Serial Connection
One of the many powerful features of a Harris router control system is its ability
to use a serial port to access an entire system. The serial port, in effect, is the
control gateway to the entire routing system. The serial port allows external
control of the RCP-ABAe by a computer, user, or automation system via a serial
connection using RS-232 or RS-422. The port is configured by DIP switches or
from the terminal interface (see “Configuring via Terminal Operations,” which
starts on page 25).
Table 2-1 on page 15 shows the connector pin assignments for a RS-232 cable
connection. Table 2-2 on page 15 shows the connector pin assignments for an
RS-422 cable connection.

Preliminary—Contents are proprietary and confidential. Do not photocopy or distribute.

Chapter 2: Installation

Ethernet Connection
The Ethernet connection provides high-speed links for configuration, control,
and monitoring of the complete routing system. The Ethernet connection uses
10Base-T wiring. Figure on page 16 shows the RJ-45 jack pinout information
for 10Base-T Ethernet communication.

X-Y Port
The X-Y control bus is a high speed serial interface by which Harris routers and
control panels are interconnected via standard 75Ω video coax cable. The ends
of the X-Y bus must be terminated using standard 75Ω video terminators.
The RCP-ABAe features one looped-through port (two BNC connectors). If
either of the BNCs is used, the other associated X-Y port connection must
be terminated with a 75Ω BNC terminator or connected to another device’s
X-Y port. It is not necessary to terminate either of the BNCs if neither is used.

DIP Switches
The rear panel has three banks of 8-pole DIP switches that are accessible from
the rear of the RCP-ABAe frame. These DIP switches can be set in two different
operating modes: DIP switch mode and Program mode. See page 16 for more
information about configuring the DIP switches for the RCP-ABAe.

Chapter 2: Installation

Installing Panels
Siting Requirements
Ensuring Adequate Rack Space
The RCP-ABAe frame is designed for mounting into a standard width 19-in.
(48.3-cm) rack. Frames are secured to the rack with standard front-mounting
ears built into the chassis. Make sure to provide adequate space behind the
mounting ears, and appropriate clearance for the connecting cables at the rear of
the frame.

Ensuring Proper Temperature and Ventilation

You can stack any number of panels in a rack as long as you maintain proper
ventilation and remove all obstructions to air flow.
An ambient temperature should be maintained between 32°F (0°C) and 122°F
(50°C) at a relative humidity of 10%-90% (non-condensing). No special cooling
arrangements are necessary, but make sure to prevent excessive ambient heat
rise in closed, unventilated equipment racks.

Meeting Electrical Requirements

Load Limitations
The RCP-ABAe holds one internal power supply unit (PSU). The power
consumption is 45 W maximum.
Maximum Power Dissipation
These ratings refer to the total module power consumption (excluding that of
the power supply) allowable within the RCP-ABAe. The limits are based on the
ability of the unit to dissipate heat over a temperature range of 32° to 122°F (0°
to 50°C).
Protective Ground
The frame is powered by an internal power supply, thus minimizing the
potential as a a shock hazard. The RCP-ABAe does not provide a dedicated
protective safety earth ground. Make sure that the frame is installed in a rack
that has sufficient earth grounding.

Mounting Requirements
Tools You’ll Need
The following tools and equipment are recommended for installation of
Note RCP-ABAe control panels:
When power is applied to the • One standard 19-in. (0.4-m) rack

• 75Ω video coaxial cable (for X-Y port connections)

• Standard 10 Mbps 10Base-T Ethernet cable segment no longer than 382.08
ft (100 m) (for Ethernet port connections)
• RS-232 or RS-422 cable segment; no longer than 50 ft (15 m) for RS-232,
and 2,000 ft (610 m) for RS-422 (for serial port connections)

Mounting Requirements
The RCP-ABAe frame can be mounted in a standard width 19-in. (48.3 cm)
rack using four 10-32 Phillips-head mounting screws. The back of the frame
does not need to be supported.
• The 1RU panel requires one unit of rack space, that is, 1¾ in. (44 mm) of
standard rack space. The depth from the mounting surface is 5¼ in. (13.3
cm).
• The 2RU panel requires two units of rack space, that is, 3½ in. (88 mm) of
standard rack space. The depth from the mounting surface is 5¼ in. (13.3
cm).
The frame can be mounted in either the front or the rear of the rack to allow for
more efficient use of your equipment housing space. The rack ears can be
attached to the frame in either direction and can be adjusted to achieve a
desirable depth within the rack, thereby allowing you flexible mounting options.
RCP-ABAe control panels are installed in the control line.
• The maximum allowable distance for each segment of the X-Y coaxial
cable run is 2,000 ft (609 m).
• The maximum length for each RS-232 cable segment is 50 ft (15 m).
• The maximum length for each RS-422 cable segment is 2,000 ft (609 m).

Installation Procedures
RCP-ABAe control panels can be installed anywhere within a routing system.
General installation procedures are outlined below.
1. Mount the frame in an rack that provides power and cooling facilities. The
frame is designed for mounting in a standard equipment rack.
2. Align the frame so that all holes in the mounting ears match up with those in
the rack. (Ears can be adjusted to set the desired depth of the panel within
the rack.)
3. Secure the frame to the rack with the rack screws and washers.
4. Connect the control device(s) to the appropriate port (X-Y, serial, Ethernet)
on the frame’s rear panel.
5. If the RCP-ABAe is to be used in a multiple frame system, connect the
additional frames using the appropriate scheme (X-Y, Ethernet, etc.).
6. If the RCP-ABAe is at the end of the X-Y bus, terminate the other X-Y
connector with a coaxial 75Ω termination.
7. Connect the power supply line cord to the RCP-p panel.

Configuring an RCP-ABAe Control Panel for

Logical Control Mode
Your control panel has been assigned basic default DIP switch settings at the
manufacturing facility. You may use RouterMapper to reconfigure the control
panel for your specific settings. An RCP-ABAe control panel operating in
Logical Control mode is configured for using RouterMapper. This utility is a
Windows®-based application, and is included with the RCP-ABAe panel. (For
more information on configuring the panel using RouterMapper, refer to
RouterMapper Configuration Utility Reference Guide.)
For applications where you need to use names (i.e., categories and indexes) or
logical source and destination mapping, you may configure your control panel
to operate in Logical Control mode. In this mode, your control panel will use
logical names instead of physical input and output numbers. To select Logical
Control mode:
1. Set pole 1 of DIP switch SW1 (located on the back of the panel) to the ON
position.
2. Enter a panel identification on SW1, poles 2 through 8.

Serial Control Port Configuration

Serial control ports are used to control RCP-ABAe control panels from an
external computer, automation system, or editor.
The serial control port may be used to monitor the system configuration,
determine the current status of crosspoint connections, change crosspoint
connections in any matrix, and setup pre-programmed crosspoint takes
sequences (salvos). In a system involving multiple frames the commands
entered into the serial port on one frame will appear on all other frames in the
system via the XY control bus.
The serial control port may be configured for RS-232 or RS-422 operation. See
Note Figure 3-9 for both RS-232 and RS-422 configurations.
Any serial control port in the
routing system can be used for
control or status of the entire 1 5
system.

Data on the serial control port is encoded as 8N1:

• 8 data bits (ASCII data, most significant bit always 0)
• No parity
• 1 stop bit
The baud rate is user selectable and can be set to
• 2400 baud
• 9600 baud
• 19200 baud
• 38400 baud
Although the 38400 baud rate can be used in RS-232 installations using very
short cable runs, this rate is mainly recommended for RS-422 installations.

Chapter 3: Configuration

Configuring via Terminal Operations

The serial control port is used to control the RCP-ABAe from an external
computer or automation system. (See Figure 2-2 on page 8 for the location of
the serial control port.) The serial port may be used to monitor the system
configuration, determine the current status of crosspoint connections, change
crosspoint connections in any matrix, and setup pre-programmed crosspoint
takes sequences (salvos). These (and other) operations are assigned to the serial
port via a series of commands called “terminal operation” commands.
At the manufacturing facility, DIP switches are set to “0” as the default setting.
If you want your RCP-ABAe settings to match these defaults, you do not need
to make any further changes. If you do want to switch from the default settings
(for example, to change baud rates), you will only need to make the changes
once. The RCP-ABAe will use the changed settings until you switch them
again.
Before you configure the RCP-ABAe serial port, you must have the following
items:
• HyperTerminal1 or other terminal emulation program
• The control panel installed
• A null modem cable for serial port operations

Establishing a Terminal Operation Session

The particular settings for your operation are selected via a series of
configuration startup commands. You can find a list of the startup commands
available on page 32.
1. Configure a host machine (such as a PC with HyperTerminal installed) for
serial port communication at a baud rate of 9600 with these settings: Data
on the serial control port is encoded as 8N1:
• 8
• None
• 1
• No flow-control
2. Ensure that the RCP-ABAe DIP switch SW3 is set as follows:
1 = OFF (down position)
2 = OFF (down position)
3 = OFF (down position)
4 = OFF (down position)
5 = OFF (down position)
6 = OFF (down position)
7 = OFF (down position)

1. HyperTerminal, a communications applet that ships with Windows 95/98 and Windows NT 4.0,
is a product of Hilgraeve, Inc., Monroe, Michigan.

3. Connect a null modem serial cable from a PC serial port to the RCP-ABAe
port labeled SERIAL.
4. Connect the RCP-ABAe X-Y to the router network.
CAUTION
Make sure the X-Y network is terminated appropriately.

5. Start up both PC and terminal emulation application.

6. Apply power to the RCP-ABAe box. At the screen prompt, enter the letter
Q, and then press <Enter>. The Command Summary screen (Figure 3-12 on
page 31) should appear on the PC screen.

Basic Terminal Protocol Menu Screen

The Command Summary screen (Figure 3-12) should be seen on the terminal
emulation application. The Command Summary screen provides the basic
command line entry syntax for the commands available for an RCP-ABAe.

before you continue the Add
process. You must use RouterMapper v.6.03 or higher to add an RCP-ABAe panel. You
can download a copy of the most current version of RouterMapper from our
website. At the Download page, select RouterMapper from the Request Files
For drop-down list box, and then click on the appropriate EXE file to start the
download.
RouterMapper is used to define a database describing the routing switcher and
then used to define panels, assigning sources and destinations to each panel as
required. RouterMapper also allows the operator to set other functional aspects
of the control panels, such as the operation of the four function keys.
Once a panel has been defined by RouterMapper, its configuration is
downloaded to non-volatile memory within the actual panel via the serial port
and control network, at which time RouterMapper is no longer required and
may be removed from the system. RouterMapper can also be used to print key
cap inserts for all of the Function, Source Select and Destination Select keys on
the control panel. This feature will ensure that buttons on panels will accurately
represent the actual programming of the panels.
Because a panel’s downloaded configuration is stored in non-volatile memory it
will not be lost if the panel loses power. RouterMapper can also save a panel’s
configuration to a disk file. This disk-based definition can later be retrieved to
program other panels, make future adjustments to this panel, or as a backup in
case the configuration is lost.

Setting Up the Control Panel in a RouterMapper Database

1. If necessary, power down the RCP-ABAe.
2. Set DIP switches as follows:

system is set to the same baud
rate. • Set the SW1 DIP switch poles 2-8 (Panel ID) to the panel’s address.
• Check the SW3 DIP switch poles 7-8 (serial port baud rate). In most
cases, you will not need to change the default setting of 9600 baud (both
DIP switches set to OFF); however, if you have other peripheral devices
or automation software that calls for a different baud rate, set these
switches appropriately.

Chapter 4
Operation

Overview
RCP-ABA1EXYp (Figure 1-5 on page 5) panels provide three source selection
windows. RCP-ABA1ESBp (Figure 1-1 on page 3), RCP-ABA2ESBp
(Figure 1-2 on page 3), RCP-ABA2EMBp (Figure 1-4 on page 4), and
RCP-ABA2EXYp (Figure 1-6 on page 5) panels provide four source selection
windows. Each window corresponds to a level or group of associated levels.
The RouterMapper configuration utility allows you to set which levels are
assigned to each of the windows.
The Level Select keys allow you to specify the levels on which they are about to
select sources. If a level key is lit, then that level is selected and source selection
will appear in that level.
The RCP-ABA1ESBp and RCP-ABA2ESBp single bus control panels control
and display the status of one router destination. The controlled destination is
assigned to the control panel when it is initially configured and cannot be
changed from the front of the control panel. The displays on the panel show the
sources connected to the destination on each of four levels. Sources may be
switched on all four levels simultaneously (AFV switching), or they may be
switched independently (breakaway switching). Procedures for selecting
sources are covered in detail in the sections that follow.
The RCP-ABA1EMBp and RCP-ABA2EMBp multibus control panels
simultaneously provide control and status of four destinations. A specific
destination is assigned to each display when the panel is initially configured.
This destination cannot be changed from the front of the control panel. The
source connected to each destination is displayed in the control display, and can
be changed using the procedures outlined in the following sections. Sources will
be switched on all levels simultaneously (AFV switching).
The RCP-ABA1EXYp and RCP-ABA2EXYp control panels include pushbutton
keys, displays, and a scroll knob. Both sources and destinations are selected on
the front of the control panel, while the destination and sources may be
monitored in the display screens. Sources may be switched on all levels
simultaneously (AFV switching), or independently (breakaway switching).
These control panels may be operated in Logical Control mode (see page 38) or
Physical Control mode (see page 75).

When a panel is operated in logical control mode, selection keys can be used to
select devices in two ways:
• Category + index (see “Category + Index Operation” on page 46 for more
information)
• Favorite key (see “Favorite Key Operation” on page 54for more
information)
When a panel is configured, each of the selection keys is assigned two pieces of
information:
• A name, which appears on the top row of the key’s legend. The name
portion can either be a category name VTR, CAM, SAT, etc.) or it can be
the full name of a favorite device (REC VTR, CAM 6, ON AIR 1.).
Pressing a key once selects the name (e.g., category or favorite device).
• An index character, which appears on the bottom row of the key’s legend.
Pressing the next key selects the index character. Indexes continue to build
until the TAKE or CLEAR keys are pressed.
When a selection key is assigned to a favorite device, it is called a favorite key.
See “Favorite Key Operation” on page 54 for more information.

Chapter 4: Operation

Category + Index Operation

All RCP-ABAe panels support category + index operations. An RCP-ABAe
control panel operating in Logical Control mode typically uses category + index
as the primary method to select sources and destinations. With category
indexing, both a category (e.g., VTR, CAM, MIC, etc.) and an index (e.g., 21, 2,
36, etc.) are needed to identify a device.
• Press a key once to select the name (e.g., category or favorite device).
• Press the next key to select the index character. Indexes continue to build
until the TAKE or CLEAR keys are pressed.
Category + index selection is a two-step, multikey operation that allows access
to an unlimited number of sources and destinations. See Figure 4-8 through
Figure 4-10 for illustrations of this operation.

Chop Operation
All RCP-ABAe panels support chop operations. In chop operation mode, you
can alternately switch the controlled destination (on all applicable levels)
between two sources, in a repetitive manner. This operation is particularly
useful in applications such as signal timing and camera matching.
A “chopping” destination that is locked may not be switched or altered by other
users. The destination must be unlocked to allow takes or changes to the “chop”
state. (See page 60 for more information about locking and unlocking
destinations.)

Favorite Key Operation

All RCP-ABAe panels support favorite key operations. The use of favorite keys
allow easy access to frequently used sources or destinations. The source or
destination (e.g., CAM 1 or VTR 2) is programmed to appear on a specific
button. Press this button to select the entire source or destination name. (Refer
to your RouterMapper configuration utility manual for more information on
how to assign sources and destinations to selected keys.)
Favorite key operation provides rapid access to these frequently used sources
and destinations, but is limited on the 1RU panel style because only 16 selection
keys are available. This operation is most useful on the RCP-ABA2EXBp
model.

Groups
RCP-ABA1ESBp, RCP-ABA2ESBp, RCP-ABA1EXYp, and
RCP-ABA2EXYp control panels support group operations. RCP-ABA1EMBp
and RCP-ABA2EMBp control panels do not support group operations.
Groups can be assigned in logical associations and can be programmed into
panel keys for display. Refer to your RouterMapper configuration utility manual
for more detailed information on how to perform this function.

Level Select Key Operation

RCP-ABA1ESBp and RCP-ABA2ESBp control panels support level select key
operation. RCP-ABA1EMBp, RCP-ABA2EMBp, RCP-ABA1EXYp, and
RCP-ABA2EXYp control panels do not support level select key operation.
RCP-ABA1ESBp and RCP-ABA2ESBp control panels provide four source
selection windows. Each window corresponds to a level or group of associated
levels. Refer to your RouterMapper configuration utility manual for information
on how to set which levels are assigned to each of the windows.
The Level Select keys allow you to specify the levels on which to select
sources. If a level key is lit, then that level is selected and source selection will
appear in that level. Figure 4-20 on page 58 provides an illustration of the Level
Select key operation.

Locking, Unlocking, or Overriding a Lock

All RCP-ABAe panels support locking, unlocking, and overriding locks
operations. A destination may be locked to prevent accidental changes. If a
destination is locked, sources cannot be selected from any control panel in the
system (destination status is stored in the router frame, not in the control panel).

Destination Locking
To lock the currently selected destination, press the LOCK key. The key will be
illuminated whenever the LOCK is active. Changes cannot be made to the status
of this destination by anyone until the lock is removed.

Destination Unlocking
If the destination was locked from this control panel, simply press the LOCK
key again to unlock the destination. The light will turn off and the destination
will become available to everyone in the system.

Overriding a Lock Set by Another Panel

If a destination was locked elsewhere in the system (i.e., on another control
panel), it cannot be unlocked using the procedures described in “Destination
Unlocking” on page 61. To override a lock set on another control panel, press
and hold the LOCK key until the light stops blinking (approximately 5
seconds). The lock will be removed when the light turns off. Release the key.
Sources can now be selected for this destination.

Paging
RCP-ABA1ESBp, RCP-ABA2ESBp, RCP-ABA1EXYp, and
RCP-ABA2EXYp control panels support paging operations. RCP-ABA1EMBp
and RCP-ABA2EMBp control panels do not support paging operations.
Paging can be programmed into two or more keys to allow “pages” of the
sources on all levels to be displayed one at a time. The page keys are necessary
because only a limited number of sources connected to a particular destination
can be displayed at a time. Therefore, those sources on the other levels are not
displayed unless they can be viewed using the page keys. Refer to your
RouterMapper configuration utility manual for more detailed information on
how to perform this function.

Preset/Take Operation
All RCP-ABAe panels support preset/take operations. An RCP-ABAe control
panel is generally configured to operate in Preset/Take mode. In this mode, a
source is selected by first being “preset” (displayed but not yet selected), and it
remains “preset” until you either press the TAKE key to execute the switch or
press the CLEAR ALL key to abort the switch.
The control panel includes a pair of LED indicators which display either
STATUS or PRESET. If the STATUS LED is lit, then the displays are showing
the current router status. Pressing TAKE at this point would have no effect on
signal routing. If the PRESET LED is lit, then the displays are showing a
PRESET or “ready to be executed” source selection. Pressing TAKE at this
point will execute all preset sources.
When performing a breakaway source selection, it is possible to preset different
sources on different levels before pressing the TAKE key, allowing a split
switch (e.g., CAM 1 on Video, VTR 2 on Audio 1 and VTR 4 on Audio 2) to be
simultaneously executed on all levels using a single TAKE operation.

Selecting Destinations
RCP-ABA1EXYp and RCP-ABA2EXYp control panels support Select
Destination mode. RCP-ABA1ESBp, RCP-ABA2ESBp, RCP-ABA1EMBp,
and RCP-ABA2EMBp control panels do not support Select Destination mode.
The currently selected destination is displayed in the control panel’s top left
display. Sources currently connected to that destination will be displayed in the
remaining displays. Note that only three or four of the possible eight switching
levels can be viewed in the four source selection screens.
To change the currently selected destination, the panel must first be placed in
select destination mode. This can be accomplished by pressing the SELECT
DEST key located below the knob or by pressing the knob itself. In either case
the panel will enter Select Destination mode. When in Select Destination mode
the SELECT DEST key will be lit.

Chapter 4: Operation

Operating a Panel in Physical Control Mode

Your control panel has been assigned basic default DIP switch settings at the
manufacturing facility. You may reconfigure the control panel for your specific
settings. Refer to Chapter 3 for additional, more specific configuration
information.
For applications where the use of names (categories and indexes) or logical
source and destination mappings is not required, it is possible to configure the
RCP-ABAe panel to operate in Physical Control mode. In Physical Control
mode, the panel will operate using the physical input and output numbers
instead of logical names (categories and indexes).
Operation of the panel in Physical Control mode is almost identical to the
operation in Logical Control mode, with the following exception: In Physical
Control mode, the sources are selected by pressing the physical input number
instead of the category name and index.

Audio Follow Video (AFV) Operation

All RCP-ABAe panels support Audio Follow Video (AFV) operation. All
RCP-ABAe panels support Audio Follow Video (AFV) operation. In AFV
operation mode, the same source is selected on all levels. In breakaway mode,
different sources can be selected on different levels.
Selecting a source when all levels are enabled (when every level key is lit) will
change all levels for that source simultaneously (AFV switching).

These devices are for professional use only and comply with Part 15 of
FCC rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions:

1. These devices may cause interference to radio and TV receivers in

residential areas.
2. These devices will accept any interference received, including
interference that may cause undesired operations.
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by Leitch
Technology,™ the party responsible for compliance to the FCC Part 15
Rule, could void the user’s authority to operate this equipment legally in
the United States.
These devices do not exceed the Class A limits for radio noise emissions
from digital apparatus as set out in the interference standard entitled
“Digital apparatus,” ICES-003 of the Canadian Department of
Communications.

Additional EMC Information

This device is for professional use in a controlled EMC environment, such as
purpose-built broadcast studios.
EMC regulations require that the radiation emitted from this unit does not
exceed certain limits. These limits are only met when the front panel is closed
and the two thumb screws are secured.
Compliance to the EMC regulations is also dependent on the use of suitably
shielded (screened) cables. Coax cables should be of the double-shielded
(screened) variety. Unused BNCs should be fitted with 75Ω terminations.
All audio cables should be screened with the shield (screen) making good
contact with the metallic parts of the cable connectors.
D-type connectors used with this unit should always have metallic shells with
the shield (screen) of the cable mechanically bonded to the metal shell. It is
further recommended that the D-type cable connectors be of the “dimple”
variety. These connectors make a better contact and consequently improve EMC
performance.
