Ans : OPEN SOURCE:

Open-source software is a type of computer software in which source code is

released under a license in which the copy right holder grants users the right to use,
change, and distribute the software to anyone and for any purpose.

EXAMPLE:
1. Open office
2. Firefox browser
3. Linux operating system
PUBLIC DOMAIN:
Public-domain software is software that has been placed in the public
domain. In other words, there is absolutely no owner ship such as copyright, trade
mark, or patent.
EXAMPLE:
1. KOffice
2. Thunder bird
3. Apache
RETAIL SOFTWARES:
Retail software is computer software typically installed on PC-type
computers or more recently delivered via the internet. Traditionally this software was
delivered via physical data storage media sold to end consumers but very few companies
still provide their software using physical media.

EXAMPLE:
The most famous example of retail software are the product offered on the
IBM PC and clones in the 1980s and 1990s including famous program like Lotus 123, Word
Perfect and the various parts that make up Microsoft office.

2. How you find personal Interest Applications and Communication Application are
different from each other, explain with help of some application example?

Ans: Personal Interest Apllications:

Nowadays more and more desktop, web and mobile apps

are being designed for specific activities related to lifestyle, entertainment, medical,
convenience or education activities. Most of them are absolutely free and few are
quite expensive. These types of application seither focus on a single service or
provide several services in a single application.
Following are the list of personal interest application.
•Lifestyle applications
•Medical applications
•Entertainment applications
•Convenience applications
•Education applications
Communication Applications:
Communication software is an application or program designed to pass
information from one system to another. Such software provides remote access to
systems and transmits files in a multitude of formats between computers.
Communication software forms a part of communication systems with software
components classified according to functions within system according to the
requirement.t
Typical communications applications include wireless system using RF and
microwave, MIMO, monitoring satellite communications.
3. Why disk defragmenter is necessary in Hard Drive or in Optical Drives?
Ans:
The defragmenter will search you hard drive partition and move data from one
location to another location, so that files stored there are one contiguous piece,
instead of being spread through out multiple locations on the hard drive’s partition.
Optical drive have less storage capacity than hard drive. If a hard drive is too
fragmented, your computer may freeze up or not start at all.
