1. Kshema Multi-speciality Hospital, Bangalore, (visited on 25.02.2023)

Studies undertaken: In this hospital students did an extensive study about,

 Hospital space planning requirements and facilities to be provided for each speciality departments like
Emergency Department, In patient Department, Outpatient department and consultation rooms, treatment
rooms, diagnostics department, Gynaecology department, paediatrics, ENT, operation theatres, Intensive
care units, Private wards and General wards, Pharmacy, etc.

 Building services requirements like electrical services, Plumbing services, CCTV, Fire alarm systems, Medical
gases, parking requirements, Air conditioning services, Medical waste disposal, etc.

2. Vydehi Multi-speciality Hospital, Bangalore, (visited on 26.02.2023)

Studies undertaken: This hospital is one of the best of its kind, and one of the premier hospitals in this category. Our
students had a wonderful opportunity to study and understand about the floor plate space planning, which includes,

 Vertical lift and staircase cores, common areas for the hospital, corridor connectivity, structural systems and
materials finishes, interior layout for furniture arrangements, toilet facilities, building elevation features, fire
safety and evacuation routes, zoning of spaces and common connectivity, Diagnostics and laboratory spaces
and layouts, Treatment rooms, consultation rooms, equipment storages, executive wards, electrical panel
rooms, etc.

 Building services requirements like Electrical services, Plumbing services, CCTV, Fire alarm systems, Medical
gases requirements like Oxygen storage room, parking requirements, Air conditioning services, Medical waste
disposal, Manifold rooms, etc.

3. Abhiahasta Multi-speciality Hospital, Bangalore, (visited on 27.02.2023)

Studies undertaken: In this hospital students studied extensively about the operation theatre design and associated
facilitates and spacial requirements, including Intensive care units.

 The operations manager of the hospital did an orientation program to our students about the good practices
in hospital planning and effective operations of the hospital. Students had an insight about the circulation
patterns inside the hospital and about the external entry and exits.

 The layout of the operation theatre and other services like echo cardiogram, ICU unit are explained in detail.
Students thoroughly understood the space planning requirements of the operation theatre and its associated
supporting spaces, and had an insight about the sterile and non sterile area and their connectivity.

critical care.
