AVA Teacher Questionnaire 2022 - Asnwered
AVA Teacher Questionnaire 2022 - Asnwered
Teacher Questionnaire
1. What does teaching at a Christian school mean for you, and how do you plan to teach
the gospel in and through your classes?
Teaching at a Christian school means that experiences that I have not yet had may present
themselves ahead of me as well as new approaches to education and pedagogy. Gospel
readings and interpretations should be an outstanding way to introduce new vocabulary
and promote reflection within a language classroom. Strategies using the Word and
meetings to discuss its meaning seem to be a great way to motivate thinking, self-
assessment, and the learning of new words.
2. Why do you want to teach at AVA specifically (as opposed to other schools)?
As mentioned before, AVA is not only a famous institution as it holds important and
relevant adjectives that would make any teacher interested in having a position at the
school. I want to become a teacher at AVA because it can, and certainly will, provide me
with life-changing experiences both in my spiritual life and professional career.
6. Where do you see yourself 5 years from now (Can be spiritually, physically, cognitively,
etc.)?
In 5 years from now I want to be practicing my spirituality on a regular basis and I want to
have my PhD.
7. Give one experience from teaching that has really helped you grow and explain why.
Five years ago, I had a student that was feared by all teachers at the school that I worked
for he was known to hit, destroy objects and curse any adult around him. The time came
and I had to teach him and like no other I also feared him. As time passed, I transformed my
fear and sometimes anger into love. I started treating him as my own son. By the end of the
schoolyear, he was a completely different learner and so I was a different educator.
Teaching showed me that if you have the vocation to love and care about your classroom,
you can change lives.
9. How do you usually handle discipline and classroom management? Please use some
examples from your experience.
At the very beginning of the schoolyear, I stablish an agreement with the entire classroom,
and I consistently refer to it as the year progresses. I am also prone to use positive discipline
in the classroom promoting talking time and classroom meetings to discuss with learners
possible solutions to issues raised by me and the students themselves.
In my last employment, I used to have classroom meetings every Friday and during the
week learners would deposit notes on a box with their complains and suggestions to be
discussed during the meeting. I would share the notes and we would vote on the best
solutions to everyone. Somethings were negotiable and others were not. We could only
debate on negotiable things.
10. What is your previous experience teaching students who speak English as a second
language? I was an academic coordinator of a major Canadian school in São Paulo and as
such I was responsible for the education of 450 children studying on Elementary School.
They were all students of English as a second language. I was primarily responsible for
training the teachers on how to linguistically educate the pupils.
Theology Questions
Biblical inerrancy is the belief that the Bible "is without error or fault in all
its teaching"; or, at least, that "Scripture in the original manuscripts does
not affirm anything that is contrary to fact". Some equate inerrancy with
biblical infallibility; others do not.
I wouldn’t know.

other books like the book of Mormon, the Koran
The Bible is the word of God according to my believes. I wouldn’t know the
difference or explain why.
6. Genesis 1 says God created the world in 6 days? Describe for me what you
believe is meant by the phrase “6 days”?
7. The Bible says Jesus performed many miracles. What is your understanding
of a miracle? Do you believe Jesus did them? Are miracles being
performed today? If not, why do you think that is?
9. Describe what you believe the Bible teaches about what hell is? Is it a
physical place or is it a metaphor in the bible? Part B If you believe it is a
place where people go how do you explain how a loving God could send
people there just for not believing in Jesus.
I am prone to believe that it is a metaphor as infinite love is what God
consists of. We can only exist because there is this supreme power that
believes in us even when we cannot trust ourselves.
12. Jesus said “I go to prepare a place for you, and if I go and prepare a place
for you, I will come again.” thoroughly describe what the phrase “I will
come again means” means to you.
That He still lives and will come to save each one of us.
Sincerely,
