AFTER AN EARTHQUAKE SCRIPT

(ANCHOR 1) Good day everyone or maybe not? Especially for the country, as this just came in. The most
powerful earthquake ever recorded in the country (its magnitude being 8.9) struck less than 100 miles
offshore which unleashed a devastating tsunami today. At 10:00 am local time, tsunami waves blasted
ashore. A surged that measure 23 ft. tall crushed homes, factories, cars and ships.

(ANCHOR 2) Even if the water has receded it left massive debris. The quake also flattens out buildings
along 1300 miles of the country’s east coast; and the violent shaking sent crowds rushing out of high rise
buildings. Transportations severely disrupted throughout as highways leading to the worst hit coastal
areas buckle. Train in the northeastern part of the country were suspended; leaving untold passengers
stranded in stations or roaming the streets. Thousands of people were still stranded where the streets
were jammed with vehicles. The country’s officials said they were straining to respond the scope of the
devastation.

(POLITICAL REPRESENTASTIVE) The situation was worse than expected, but not to worry for the
government will bring support to the affected areas and contained the damage.

(ANCHOR 1) In what situation are these people right now? For further details, let us refer to our news
reporter_________ who is currently present at the scene.

(NEWS REPORTER 1) Tsunamis are the deadliest sub-type of an earthquake, with an average of 79
deaths for every 1000 people affected; this one killing more than 7000 people in the process. Most of
these victim lost their shelter just roaming around streets and stations. Water and food supplies are
scarce and it great demand for most of it was contaminated. Injuries such as broken limbs and head
injuries such as broken limbs and head injuries are caused by the physical impact of people being
washed into debris such as houses, trees and other stationary items. I have also interviewed one of the
victims, in which she/he stated that her/his son was one of the 29 people who went missing because of
the said event.

(VICTIM) I have never even witness a tsunami in my life, who would’ve guess it was actually so tragic.
You know...I lost my son because of it, he’s one of the people who have gone missing; At this point I am
holding to a belief that he will be back, he will survive but every second I see all these dead people I
couldn’t be calm knowing that somewhere out there he could’ve died. He was such a young man Why?
Why can’t it be just me. I don’t even know what to do…

(NEWS REPORTER) If ever you do happen to find these people, please do contact the following numbers

(ANCHOR 1) Preparing before a tsunami strikes and surviving during are important. But how about
after? What are we supposed to do? Well here we will discuss what should we do to BE SAFE after.

(ANCHOR 2) Save phone calls for emergencies. Phone systems often are down or busy after a disaster.
Use text messages or social media to communicate with family and friends

(ANCHOR 1) Stay away from areas that have been damaged for your own safety and so emergency
responders can have full access.

(ANCHOR 2) Avoid wading in floodwater, which can contain dangerous debris. Water may be deeper
than it appears

(ANCHOR 1) Be aware of the risk of electrocution. Underground or downed power lines can electrically
charge water. Do not touch electrical equipment if it is wet or if you are standing in water.

(ANCHOR 2) If you become injured or sick and need medical attention, contact your healthcare provider
and shelter in place, if possible. Call 9-1-1 if you are experiencing a medical emergency.

(ANCHOR 1) Stay out of the tsunami hazard or evacuation zone until local officials tell you it is safe. The
cancellation of a tsunami warning does not mean the danger has passed. For that update, Our Mayor
will give us a statement about that.

(ANCHOR 2) Before that we will be back after a short commercial break.

need time to inspect the area for us to identify whether it is safe or not. For the meantime we would be
assisting all the people affected.
