Accurate and Reliable Metering Systems are key to the reliable operation of the
Central Settlement system. Whilst it is a requirement that the metering system
registrant has access to the data from these meters (generally in pulse format), it is
vital that the third party equipment connected to these meters cannot inadvertently
affect or damage the tariff meters. Where pulse signals leave the confines of the
sealed metering system, this protection is provided by the inclusion of a Metering
Impulse Interposing Unit (MIIU).
Traditional MIIUs achieved this isolation / protection ¡ ot being subject to wear, they offer a significantly
