Where does the Andean Bear live?

In Peru, it lives in a great variety of environments

and altitudes, as it has been found in Lambayeque,
Piura, Cajamarca, Amazonas, San Martín and even
other regions.

What characteristics does the Andean bear have?

It is one of the eight species of bears that exist in the

world and is the only species present in South
America. Their fur is generally black, although
some individuals have chestnut hues. They have
yellowish markings on the neck, chest and around
the eyes, in the shape of glasses, hence their name.
What abilities does the Andean bear have?

Although they may not look like it, they are very
good swimmers and climbers. They build platforms
on top of trees where they take naps and bring their
food to digest. They are solitary but seem to leave
messages on trees for other individuals, signaling
with their scents where they have gone.
Why is the Andean bear in danger of extinction?

Vulnerable (Reduction)

Spectacled Bear/Conservation Status

Explanation:

The spectacled bear or Andean bear, a new symbol

of the S/1 coins, is an endangered species for
different reasons that cause concern. ...
Unscrupulous hunters kill bears because they
consider them a threat to livestock and crops such as
corn

What would happen if the Andean bear became

extinct?

If the bear becomes extinct, the regeneration and

renewal of the forest will slow down. “He eats fruits
and defecates the seeds all over the place and thus
sows again. He is a gardener, he takes care of the
forest and that is where the water is produced.
How can we protect the Andean bear from
extinction?

In order to avoid the extinction of the spectacled

bear, it is appropriate that man stop cutting down
the forests, since the animal lives in the forests. Stop
hunting them. Hunters kill them for their skin and in
a few cases for their meat. Avoid sea pollution
