1.

DC fuses: Its function is to protect the circuit since when the current exceeds a certain
value, the fuse breaks due to the heat generated.
2. AC fuses: They are small and oscillate between fifty and sixty seconds from the
minimum to the máximum.
3. Cartridge fuses: They are used to protect electrical appliances where high currents and
high voltage ratings are required.
4. D – type cartridge fuse: The circuit is complete when the tip of the cartridge makes
contact across the fusible link lead.
5. HRC fuse: The fuse wire carries a short-circuit current in a given period. If the fault
occurs in the circuit, then it shuts down.
6. Higth voltage fuses: They are used in power systems to protect the power transformer.
7. Automotive, Blade & Bolted Fuses: They are used in automobiles for wiring and short
circuit protection. Car fuse rating is low, 12V to 42V.
8. SMD, Chip , Radial, and Lead fuses: They are used in DC power applications such as
hard drives, DVD players, cameras, mobile phones, etc.
9. Rewireable Fuses: It is used in industrial and domestic electrical wiring for small
current applications in low voltage systems.
10. Thermal fuses: They are one-time use fuses. They are made of temperature sensitive
alloy.
11. Resettable fuse: Is a passive electronic component used to protect against short
current faults in electronic circuits.
