Greetings:

Thank you maam Adelfa for the kind introduction. Thank you for inviting me to be part of this big
celebration.
To our supportive School board members headed by our chairperson, pastor Mitchel Domingo, to
our dynamic Brgy. Officials of Mabini headed by Brgy. Capt. Hon. __________________,to the teaching
force of MAMS, through the leadership of maam Joyce Mercado our school head, to our generous and ever
supportive parents who are with us today, to our church members who are faithful in giving their support to
MAMS, and of course to our learners, the very reason why we are here today, the main purpose of this
Adventist institution, my greetings to all of you, great morning and happy 26th founding anniversary.
Foundation Day is an exciting day for our school and provides students, staff, parents and guests alike an
opportunity to reflect on the growth of the school over the last 26 years and the school’s bright future ahead.
Foundation Day is an important milestone each year, where we show our gratitude for the wisdom, courage
and commitment demonstrated by those who contributed to the establishment and progress of the School. To
celebrate the faithfulness of God in leading this institution.
In the bible there were individuals who showed their thankfulness to God encouraging us to follow their
excellent example:
1. Mirriam
Miriam, the older sister of Moses and Aaron, gave thanks to God while playing her tambourine and
dancing with joy with the other women whom God saved from the Egyptians after they crossed over the
Red Sea:

“Sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously;

the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.” Exod. 15:20–21

2. Hannah
Hannah gave a long prayer of thanks to God in 1 Samuel 2 because God granted her petition for a son.
Once Samuel was weaned, Hannah and her husband, Elkanah, brought him to Eli the priest to be
dedicated to the Lord:

And Hannah prayed and said,

“My heart exults in the Lord;

my horn is exalted in the Lord.
My mouth derides my enemies,
     because I rejoice in your salvation… (1 Sam. 2:1–10)
3. David
David gave thanks to God after winning his battle against the Philistines:

And David spoke to the Lord the words of this song on the day when the Lord delivered him from the
hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. He said,

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,

my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield, and the horn of my salvation,
     my stronghold and my refuge,
my savior; you save me from violence.
I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised,
and I am saved from my enemies… (2 Sam. 22:1–51).
4. Solomon
King Solomon, in his prayer of dedication for the temple, thanked God for all he had done to provide for
Israel:

Then the king turned around and blessed all the assembly of Israel, while all the assembly of Israel
stood. And he said, “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who with his hand has fulfilled what he
promised with his mouth to David my father…” (1 Kings 8:14–21 ).
5. The Leper
Ten lepers came to Jesus and asked him to heal them. Jesus sent them to the priests, and they were all
healed along the way. Only one of the ten healed people returned to thank Jesus, and that person was not
even a Jew. He was a Samaritan who was considered to be a foreigner in Israel’s sight:

Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice; and he
fell on his face at Jesus' feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus answered, “Were
not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except
this foreigner?” And he said to him, “Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well.” (Luke 17:15–
19)
6. Paul
Paul gave thanks in the middle of a storm.

This story in Acts 27 reads like a modern-day action adventure. Paul had been imprisoned and put on a ship
for Rome under Roman guard. The ship was soon caught in a violent hurricane. The crew first tried to hold
the ship together by passing ropes underneath, then they threw cargo and later ship’s tackle overboard. By
the 14th day, when they’d seen neither sun nor stars, “they gave up all hope of being saved.”

But that night, an angel appeared to Paul in a dream, assuring him no one would die. The storm raged on and
the ship looked like it would be dashed against rocks. They dropped four anchors and prayed for daylight.
No one had eaten for 14 days, and just before sunrise, Paul urged everyone to eat to regain strength. In the
midst of the storm, Paul took bread, gave thanks to God before the entire ship, broke the bread and
distributed it. The next day, all 276 aboard made it safely to shore.

If Paul gave thanks not after the storm had passed, but right in the midst, we can give thanks in our storm as
well.

5. Jesus gave thanks before there was enough.

When Jesus fed the 5,000, he was grieving deeply, having just learned his cousin, John the Baptizer, had
been beheaded. He was also weary and had tried to get away to a quiet spot with his apostles for rest. But the
crowds followed and with great compassion, Jesus taught for hours. Seeing the people were hungry, Jesus
took five loaves and two fish, and “looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves.” The apostles
distributed the food to the crowd, the people ate until satisfied and they gathered 12 baskets of leftovers.

The odds are 100% God will meet our need. We may not see it yet, but God has promised and He will do it.
When we ask God to meet our need, we can thank him in advance for his sure provision.
And so with us today, we are thankful to God for founding MAMS
There are some benefits I listed here in attending Adventist Christian school
Spiritual Focus

Seventh-day Adventist schools focus on preparing students not just for success in this life, but for eternity. The
ultimate goal of each teacher is to see each student in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Academic Achievement

Cognitive Genesis, a four year study of 30,000 students enrolled in Seventh-day Adventist schools across North
America found that students in Seventh-day Adventist schools achieve an average of half a grade above predicted
ability in all subjects.

Higher Education

Students who attend Seventh-day Adventist schools are more likely to attend college. Over 85% of graduates from
Seventh-day Adventist high schools attend college and over 80% of them complete college degrees. This is compared
to 66% and 14% of public high school students respectively.

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

Students who understand the principles of right and wrong and the attributes of God’s kingdom are
better scholars, leaders, family members, and citizens. Our society needs ethical leaders – and this
developmental training experience for young people is a joint effort between home, school, and church.

Adventist education prepares scholars with life training and character development. Adventist education
is the best way to educate citizen scholars who demonstrate respect, integrity, truthfulness,
perseverance, responsibility, caring, courage and problem solving.
IMPACTFUL TEACHERS

Our teachers understand their mission to offer redemptive education to help students make good every
day decisions now that will impact the future. Educators regularly participate in professional
development and continuing education to keep their skills on the cutting edge. Our team of educators
goes beyond teaching content to nurture, care and pray for students in their whole person growth
journey

Before I end, I want to share with you an acronym for your theme “Enliven”
