NAME: Victoria Abad

GRADE: 10th B
DATE: 24/05/2023

This activity will be graded with the following assessment criteria:

MYP CRITERIA

● Criterion A strand i (Questions from 1 to 7 only)

● Criterion D strand i (Reflection Journal section only)

IMPORTANT: Each plagiarized response will subtract one point from criterion A.

INSTRUCTIONS: Read the lectures and answer the questions below (1-7):
1. Identify: What document did English nobles hope would limit the king’s power?

The English nobles passed Magna Carta in 1215 to restrict the power of King
John. It represented one of England's first moves to become a constitutional
monarchy.

2. Explain: How was the creation of Parliament a step toward the creation of
democracy in England?

It limited the king's power and gave some people a say in how the government
was run.
3. Identify: Who rallied the French troops during the Hundred Years’ War?

As a teenager, Joan of Arc (c. 1412–1431) led the French army against the British
during the Hundred Years War.

4. Elaborate: The Hundred Years’ War caused much more damage in France than in
England. Why do you think this was the case?

The English won most of the Battles and all the Battles were fought in France. So
all the damage goes there.

5. Describe: What was the Black Death?

The Black Death was a bubonic plague pandemic that took place in western
Eurasia and North Africa between 1346 and 1353. It is the most deadly pandemic
in known human history, killing between 75 and 200 million people, reaching its
highest point in Europe between 1347 and 1351.

6. Explain: How did the Black Death contribute to the decline of the manor system?

The significant decline in population due to the large number of deaths causes a
labour shortage that helps to end serfdom. Cities grow. The decline of the guild
system and the expansion of manufacturing change the European economy and
society.
7. Argue: Why do you think the Black Death was able to spread so quickly through
Europe?

Because of the via land and sea trade routes of the ancient Silk Road system.

REFLECTION JOURNAL

1. What specific skills did you use during the individual task, and how did they
contribute to your performance? (50 words minimum)

Suggested link: IB learner profile

I engage in research, developing and using conceptual knowledge and

understanding. In this activity, I also develop time and spread it out so that
we have sufficient development. We engage with issues and ideas of local
and global importance.
2. Looking back at the task, what are some ways you could have applied your
skills more effectively, and what would you do differently next time? (100
words minimum)

I distributed my time and organized myself effectively to be able to

complete, apart from these hours, more of the activities that I had pending
and it did help me a lot since before it was not something that I was aware
of, but now I was able to do it, and I feel more organized and I distribute my
school life and that is something too important to me. It would further
strengthen my communication, since I always wanted to ask someone
about one of these topics but I tried as much as I could to do it by myself,
and it worked for me.
