INTRODUCTION
financial resources to meet their needs and obligations. There are several factors that contribute
to financial problem of Senior High School Students; including low income of parents or
guardians, unexpected expenses and lack of financial knowledge. Financial problem can also
have a significant impact on a person’s life it includes stress, anxiety, and difficulty in meeting
basic needs.
Low income of parents or guardians is one of the major factors that affects the financial stability
of Senior High School Students. Many families struggle to provide basic necessities such as food
and shelter, leaving little or no budget for expenses–such as school supplies, transportation and
or repair of appliances can also lead to financial stress for Senior High School Students. Lack of
financial knowledge, especially to students who do not have ideas about budgeting. Budgeting that
students need to learn to create and manage a budget to help them track their spending and be
aware where their money goes. Stress and Anxiety actually reduces your motivation to study and
do school works such as assignments, projects and paper works. Difficulty in meeting basic needs,
especially personal needs such as food, shelter, health care and clothing.

This is one of the common issues in our country, most of us experiencing this problem, also
parents and community. Financial problem affect the academic performance of a student, moreover
due to inflation and trade war, it had made most of the country facing recession and increases the
cases of student facing financial problem. Students have their different kind of expenses such as
school fees and transportation fees in daily life as a Senior High School students.
Our target respondents for this study will be our fellow Grade 11 Humss Students here in Cat
College, who currently experience this financial problem that affects their academic performance.
Also this problem affects their mental health, that can lead to some health problems; such as
sleeping problems, eating habits and difficulties to focus. This proposed respondents will be given
a questionnaire that they will answer based on their personal experiences. In that case that collected
answers will be discussed in this research, and identity the Impact of this financial problem to their
academic performance.
According to Halliday Wynes, (2014), a student financial position will affect their commitment
in learning which will affect their academic performance. When a student is having an ongoing
financial stress, it will affect their personal life such as sleep problems where they worry about
their financial statue and could not fall into sleep. Financial problem will also affect a student
mental health such as facing depression and anxiety. According to (Thomas Richardson, 2013),
Worldbank.org, 55% of students in the Philippines report not having enough money to pay for food

or basic necessities and 26% say that this is a regular occurrence. Estimates derived from the
survey data indicate that about 23 million adults making financial decisions face this situation.
This research will discuss the possible impacts of financial problem to the academic performance
of Grade 11 Senior High School students here in Cat College. This study gather 15 Grade 11 Humss
students in Cat College, who completed the given questionnaire. This will address other students
problem and descriptive analysis will help to analyze the data collected.
