Introduction

Objective of the Work Immersion

Work immersion will help develop among the learners* life and career skills, and will

prepare them to make decisions on post-secondary education or employment. Through

partnership building. DepEd hopes that the Partner Institutions will provide learners with

work immersion opportunities, workplace or hands-on experience, and additional learning

resources. It aims to make the learners:

appreciate the importance and application of the principles and theories learned in school;

enhance their technical knowledge and skills;

enrich their skills in communications and human relations; and

develop good work habits, attitudes, appreciation and respect for work.

By the time learners reach Senior High School, they would have already acquired almost

all the competencies and skills that would prepare them for the curriculum exits (higher

education, employment, middle-skills development, and entrepreneurship). Work

immersion provides them with an avenue to test themselves and apply what they have

learned in a non-school scenario. In work immersion, learners are not only able to apply

their previous training but are also able to experience the social interactions in a work

environment. Their experiences during work immersion will develop many skills and

values that would help them as they transition from high school to real life. To assure the

achievement of the above objectives of Work Immersion, this policy serves to guide

schools in:

creating flexible work immersion arrangements for their learners;

providing options for work immersion that are relevant to learners' purposes and needs:

In our first day of immersion April 28, 2023,the chief of police introduced the San Vicente

MPS personnel. Moreover, we had a short briefing regarding their Moa, chief of police

Martinez explain their rules and regulations for us to be aware of it. Furthermore, we go

to the third floor and Sir Elmer Rosal demonstrated the steps on how to disassemble and

assemble guns, after that he called us one by one to go in front and do it as well, we

disassembled and assembled 3 types of guns such as caliber 45,glock 9mm, and m16 rifle.

Meanwhile, Ma'am Pinzon discussed the RA. 9262 Anti-violation against women and

children. She explained what are the actions that considered as violation and how it works.

Day 2

In the second day of our immersion PNP personnel and the new OIC Sir Halover together

with the life coaches Pastor Carlito, Pastor Edna ,and Pastor Leonita conducted an KWIM

(Kasimbayanan Weekly Interactive Meeting)with the topic creating values and others. The

police officers told us that we must come to join the Zumba at the plaza Burgos at 6:00 in

the morning. In the afternoon the police personnel conducted a checkpoint and we the
5

immersion students allow by the police personnel to go with them to observe on how the

police personnel conduct an checkpoint operation .And we observe that mostly

Motorcycle are those who they stop and see if they have a license. In addition the police

personnel also tell us on how to see a fake license.

Day 3

On the third day, 2023,personnel of San Vicente MPS under the supervision of PCAPT

PEDRO R HALOVER, OIC conducted lecture to us regarding ELCAC EO#70, eight

focus crime, Anti Criminality Tips and RA 9165. Also, we watched a movie entitled "The

Bone Collector", and after watching it Sir Elmer Rosal asked questions about the video we

watched. Meanwhile, In line with CPNP's Peace and Security Framework we conducted

formation to ensure that we are complete and it also served as the permission from the

second highest Police officer that we can already have our time out.

Day 4
6

On the fourth day of our work immersion, we introduce ourselves to the chief police upon

arrival at our designated workplace, the San Vicente Ilocos Sur Police Station. After that,

we went to the office and waited for the assigned officers to tell us what we needed to do.

We decided to clean the area while we waited by mopping, cleaning, and sweeping the

floor. Then Ma'am Pinzon came for us together with Sir Rosal to discuss the REPUBLIC

ACT 8353 via power point presentation and which is the "Anti Rape Law". Ma'am Pinzon

explained on how this law works and she also discussed all the types of activities that

violate this law. On the other hand, Sir Rosal also discussed on what are the penalties that

will be given to people who violate it. The discussion took an hour, and after that they took

us to get our lunch break. When we were finished, we get back at office and wait for the

assigned officer again, but they was unable to meet us due to a busy schedule of that

afternoon. As a result, the other officers eventually let us go home.

Day 5

On our fifth day May 05 2023, our last day of immersion we don’t have any activities in

the morning, the reason is that San Vicente MPS personnel was busy with their duties to

maintain the peace and order in the community and we understood that. However, in the

afternoon sir Cabonce gave a words of encouragement to pursue to be part of PNP. He

enlighten us that “Yes it’s true that PNP was indeed difficult, yet the only thing that we

need to keep in our mind is we can do it, we need to believe and trust ourselves”. Also, he

shared his experience and journey when he is still young like us and still pursuing his
7

dreams in life until he became successful. In life there are many obstacles but always

remind yourself that you are stronger than anything, that you can stand despite the

problems and struggles that you might encounter.

Observation and Insights

During our work immersion, I felt the sincerity of their hearts when they welcomed us.

They are always smiling to us and nice. My observation in our work immersion is they are

all showing respect to each other especially to those in higher positions, In their workplace

they create a positive work environment where everyone feels valued and respected. And I

learned that showing courtesy to others is not a sign of weakness, but rather a sign of

strength and professionalism. My insights of the PNP San Vicente is they are always

wearing uniform even if it’s hot and they are all representable.

Overall Reflection and Self- Appraisal

Throughout my work immersion experience, I was able to obtain practical information,

improve my abilities, and gain a better grasp of the professional world. The last few weeks

have been a voyage of self-discovery, growth, and learning that I will treasure and carry

with me for the rest of my life.

I was lucky to work with a team of competent experts who generously contributed their

knowledge and expertise during the immersion. Their advice and mentoring were

important in molding my understanding of the sector and provided me with insights that

could not be obtained only through textbooks or classes. I saw their work ethic,

problemsolving abilities, and attention to detail, and it encouraged me to strive for

excellence in my own work. Furthermore, my work immersion experience allowed me to

put the skills and knowledge I gained during my academic path to use. I was able to put

theory into practice, which allowed me to reinforce my comprehension of numerous

subjects while also developing new talents. Whether it was research, data analysis, or

project collaboration, each work brought a fresh challenge that forced me to think

critically and creatively.

8

In 5 days of our immersion I get the chance to increase my knowledge and able to know

the duties of police officers. We learned how to disassemble and assemble guns and we

are also able to experience how to conduct checkpoint .
