1) The expenditure on different items and savings made by Renuka every month is
shown in the bar graph. Interpret it in a tabular form and find :
a) Renuka’s total expenditure per month.
b) On which item was the maximum amount spent and how much?
c) Her annual savings.

Solution:
a) From the above graph , we have the following data

Food 5,000
Education 2,500
Rent 5,500
Entertainment 1,000
Miscellaneous 3,500
Savings 2,500

Renuka’s total expenditure per month = Rs (5,000 + 2,500 + 5,500 + 1,000 + 3,500)
= Rs 17,500
b) Maximum amount was spent on rent = Rs 5,500
c) Her annual savings = Rs 2,500 × 12 = 𝑅𝑠 30,000

Solution:
a) The bar graph represents the number of students participating in various clubs in
school.
b) 6 clubs.
c) Y-axis represents the number of students.
d) Music club has the least number of participants.(30)
e) Mathematics club.
f) 55 students are there is Mathematics club.

3) Dahlia, Zinnia, Erica, Lily, Ivy were contesting for the post of Head Girl in your
school. Votes in their favour are shown in the bar graph below. Study the bar graph
and answer the following questions:
a) Who won the election?
b) By what margin did the winner defeat her nearest contestant?
c) Find the total number of votes casted by the students?

Solution:

a) Zinnia won the election.(1600)


b) Zinnia = 1600 votes . Dahlia = 1200 votes .
Difference =1600 – 1200= 400 votes
The winner defeated her nearest contestant, by 400 votes.
c) From the above graph , we have the following data
Dahlia=1200
Zinnia=1600
Erica= 400
Lily = 600
Ivy= 1000
Total number of votes casted = 1200 +1600+400+600+1000 = 4800

which were plying on the road during a short interval of time and made a list like this:

Solution:

a) Class VI .(500)
b) Class VII (300) and Class IX (300).
c) Class V=450 Class VIII=250. 450- 250=200.

200 students are more in Class V than Class VIII.
