It every so often remains the talk of the town that whether feminism is for all or it is for it is

only for selected few. A popular belief is that it is only in favor of elite western women. As
it is considered a western import, it is believed to be harmful even to most of the eastern and
Middle Eastern women, let alone men. If it doesn't benefit all, it is not feminism. It is
something else. In fact, feminism seeks to change gender roles and abolish sexist practices.
Roles and practices by which men are equally affected as women. So, feminism is important
for men also. Why? Four reasons are listed below.

1. Man will be free to express his emotions

Society genders man in a way that he is always reluctant to express his emotions. He would
very rarely show his vulnerability. Expression of empathy or sadness is not his thing. And, it
is not the man himself who is responsible for all this. Society has constructed a sexist
culture. If a man doesn't adhere to the culture, he will be penalized. Studies Suggest that
when male leaders ask for help in the workplace they are looked upon as less competent and
capable. The same doesn't apply to women. This should ring the alarm bell. Man is trained
to not ask for help when it is needed. This, obviously , will lead to low performance and
development. It may also disturb the man mentally.

In workplace, everyone would like to work with nice colleagues. But, studies suggest that
calm and agreeable men make significantly less money. And, stereotypically masculine men
are preferred for managerial positions. Because they are considered more competent and
confident. Hence, man tend to comply with sexist culture to be more successful. That being
said, if feminism is embraced it will encourage man to accept and express himself. That will
be beneficial for everyone.

2. Man will not be bound to bear the burden of others

In societies where the gender gap is wide, women are discouraged from participating in the
workforce. So, the man becomes bound to take responsibility to feed all family members. In
most of the South Asian countries, only one man would work to support the family.
Remaining would rely upon him. Only 25% of literate women in Pakistan participate in the
workforce. The remaining 75% are financially dependent on men. At the same time, In
Iceland, a country with the least gender gap, 86% of women took part in the workforce in
2016. That was almost equal to male participation. This means: no one depends on no one
else. This ensures that everyone leads his life in whatever manner he likes. And, What
would one desire more than freedom!

3. Man won't consider it a shame to admit that he is psychologically disturbed

As the man is overburdened, he is more likely to suffer certain psychological disorders like
depression and anxiety. Statistics also suggest the same. Three times more men than women
die by committing suicide. And, quite unsurprisingly, 87% of men don't get proper sleep.
While more than 14% of men in Unite states suffer mental problems, only 60% of them go
for treatment. Why are they so reluctant to talk about it? Societal expectations and gender
roles play the trick again! Man is expected to act strong, dominant, and confident. Showing
vulnerability and seeking help is something against so-called "manhood". If man endorses
the idea of feminnism, he will be free from socialy constructed gender roles. He will seek
help and opt for therapy. He will be able to lead a better life.

4. Man's life expectancy will increase

It is general trend that women live longer than men. Apart from biological reasons there is
social factor- steriotypicall mascluinity. Man society encourages man to take dangerous
risks. Additionally, as afforesaid, man is least likely to seek emotional and psychological to
support, he ends up either ending his life or seeks refuge in hazardous drugs as escape.
Icelande has highest life expectancy - 81 years for men and 84 for women-in Europe
becuase the gender gap is lowest there. At the same time life expectancy for men in india is
68.24 years. And for women it is 70 years. This suggests, greater the gender gap, least the
life expectancy of man. So, man will live longer if feminism prevails.
