GIRL 1(Amelia) – What happens when the hunter becomes the hunted? To the Gregg family,
hunting is just fun. To me, that I live next door, it’s just horrible. The Greggs have two boys. Their
names are Philip and William. Sometimes I go over to their farm and play with them…

When I am very, very angry my magic finger takes over. I can’t control it.(Gets all red and looks
angry trying to hold her finger)That happened last week, I’m going to tell you about it as best as I
can…

MR. GREGG(Mateo)– Boys! Hurry up, it’s time to go hunting. Prepare your guns and be ready to
go off into the woods.(Moves his hands calling his children)

PHILIP(Max)– I’m excited to use my new shotgun. Let’s look for animals and birds. Let’s have
fun!(Plays with his gun, acts out shooting the gun)

WILLIAM (Fran)– Oh, it’s a lovely Saturday morning and the sky is clear enough to have a
successful hunting day…(Points at the sky and looks at it with his hands over his eyes to protect it
from the sun)

GIRL 1(Amelia) – I can’t stand hunting!!! You shouldn’t kill animals just for fun… That is very
unfair!(Puts her arms down with a lot of strength angrily)
The boys laugh and make faces .

MR GREGG(Mateo) – Little girl, You shouldn’t be here! Do me a favour…… Go home and mind
your business!!!(Moves his hands for her to move away)

GIRL(Amelia)– This is soooo unfair… I’m getting really angry (she starts pointing at them while they
leave the stage)

MAGIC WAND SOUND

Oh, dear! Oh, dear! (Takes her head looking worried)I even put my magic finger on Mrs Gregg, who
wasn’t there! Poor woman!

Girl: Catalina Mrs Winter:Agustina Student: Martina

GIRL2(Catalina)– For months I‘ve been telling myself that I would never put the magic finger upon
anyone again – not after what happened to my teacher, Mrs Winter…(Put her hands over her face
as she shakes her head)

RING BELL SOUND

MRS WINTER (Agustina)– Children! Come inside! The break is over! We have lots of work to do.
Please sit down and open your books…(Moves her hands for children to enter and takes a sheet of
paper from the table)

Students sit down in the classroom

We have to practice for the Spelling Competition… Let’s see… who wants to spell “BALLOON”
(Points at a student who is raising his hand)

STUDENT 1(Martina Dinardo): Me! Balloon, B-A-L-L-O-O-N, balloon (Raises his hand)

MRS WINTER(Agustina) – Well done! Let’s try another… (Students raise up their hands and the
teacher points to one) Your word is MONDAY.

STUDENT 1(Martina Dinardo) – Monday, M-O-N-D-A-Y, Monday(Raising her hand)

MRS WINTER(Agustina) – Excellent! Now, it’s your turn (talking and pointing to the girl). Your word
is CAT.
GIRL 2(Catalina) – That’s an easy one, Cat, K-A-T, cat.

MRS WINTER (Agustina) – You’re a silly little girl!(Taking her own head between her hands) You
don’t know how to spell CAT…. You must study the alphabet harder!

GIRL 2(Catalina) – I’m not silly, I am a smart girl. You’ll see! (Stands up from her chair angrily)

MRS WINTER (Agustina)– Be quiet!(Puts her finger in front of her mouth for her to shush) Go and
stand in the corner and practice spelling!! (Points at the corner and behind the board)

GIRL 2(Catalina) – I’m getting really cross, I’m going to put my magic finger on you, Mrs
Winter!(Spinning her finger in the air until she points at Mrs Winter )

MAGIC WAND SOUND

When Mrs Winter appears, she has whiskers on her face and a very long tail.The class is laughing
at her.

MRS WINTER(Agustina) – What is so funny? Can you tell me? Do you want to miss minutes of
your break?(Points at her watch)

GIRL 2 (Catalina)– If you are wondering whether Mrs Winter is all right again now, the answer is
NO. And she never will be.(Puts her hand over her forehead)

MR GREGG(Mateo) – Boys! Come on! Let’s go hunting.(Walking towards the trees with his gun)

PHILIP(Max) – This time we should go for wild ducks… what do you think William?(Walking with
William)

WILLIAM(Fran)– Great idea! Let’s go towards the lake…(Points at the lake and both start walking
towards the lake)

LONG BANG SOUNDS / SLIDE 8

They walk around the stage shooting their guns…

GIRL3 (Connie)– In the first hour they got ten birds…

In the next hour they got another six.(Looks very sad)

MR GREGG (Mateo) – What a day! This is the best yet!(Stands very straight with his gun over his
shoulder looking very happy)

WILLIAM(Fran) – Look, dad! Three wild ducks are coming (three ducks appear on stage and begin
to follow them)

PHILIP(Max)– Yeah! They are easy to shoot! They are quite close to us…

BANG SOUND

The Greggs can’t kill the ducks.

MR GREGG (Mateo) – I don’t know what’s going on. It’s getting dark to see.(Looks confused) Let’s
go home, boys.

The 3 of them start walking home.

GIRL 3(Connie)– All the way home, those three ducks flew around in the sky and nothing would
make them go away…

GIRL 4 (Guadalupe)– When the morning came, Mr Gregg was the first to wake up. He couldn’t find
his hands. He gave a yell and jumped.

MR GREGG (Santi)– Where are my hands? What happened?(looking at his arms in disbelief)

MRS GREGG (Dolores) – Oh! What’s going on, dear? (Stretching her arms out)

MR GREGG (Santi)– I HAVE wings and you too!( Moves his arms up and down and points at his
wife)
MRS GREGG (Dolores)– What’s happened to both of us…this is witches’ work! BOYS!(Puts her
hands together like praying)

Philip and William enter on stage moving their wings.

WILLIAM(Lucio) – Mama! Mama! We can fly!!!

PHILIP (Bauti)– This is too much fun… we’re flying… let’s go out the window!

GREGG FAMILY(Santi, Dolores, Bauti, Lucio) – What are they doing?( with their hands over their
eyes)

MRS GREGG ( Dolores)- Oh, dear! They have taken our house. What shall we do? We have no
place to go…(looking very worried)

PHILIP (Bauti)– Cats and foxes are going to eat us in the night!running in circles with his wings
spread)

WILLIAM (Lucio)– I want to sleep in my bed! (Crosses his wings)

MR GREGG (Santi)– Stop crying! (Takes Philip by his arms)That won’t help us! We’re going to
build a nest…(uses her arms to show a big nest)

MRS GREGG – So, we need to look for some sticks to prepare a nest.(with his hand under his chin
like thinking)

WILLIAM (Lucio)– But we need lots and lots of little sticks.(moving his arms to show a lot a lot)

FREE AS A BIRD (The Beatles) while they prepare the nest

GIRL 4(Guadalupe) – When they got to the house, they found all the windows and doors closed.
There was no way in.

MRS GREGG ( Dolores)– Just look at that duck cooking on my stove!(points at a duck and then
puts her hands around her face)

MR GREGG (Santi)– And look at that one holding my lovely gun!(points at a duck and then puts his
hands around his face)

WILLIAM and PHILIP (Lucio,Bauti)– One of them is playing with our video games!(point at a duck
and then put their hands around their faces)

MRS GREGG ( Dolores)– Oh, dear! They have taken over our whole house! What are we going to
eat?

MR GREGG (Santi)– Just because we have wings, we don’t have to eat bird food. We shall eat
apples instead. Our trees are full of them. Come on!(moving his hands to show an apple tree)

GIRL 4(Guadalupe) – In the end, they were able to get a few small bites each. And then they flew
to the nest and lay down to sleep.
Back in my house, I picked up the telephone and tried to call Philip. I wanted to see if the family
was all right.

DUCK MUM (Helena)- Quack!

GIRL4 (Guadalupe) – Who is it?(Looking confused)

DUCK MUM (Helena)– Quack – quack!

GIRL 4(Guadalupe) – Philip? Is that you?(Looking confused)

DUCK MUM - Quack – quack! Quack – quack! (Laughing)

GIRL 4 (Guadalupe)– Stop it! … And I put down the phone. (shakes her head)Oh, that magic
finger! What has it done to my friends?(grabbing her own hand)

GIRL5(Valentina) – That night, while Mr and Mrs Gregg and Philip and William were trying to get
some sleep in the nest, a wind began to blow.

STORM WIND SOUND

Then came the rain and the water ran into the nest and they all got wet.
At last, the morning came, and with it the warm sun.

MRS GREGG(Marti VL) – I never want to sleep in a nest again. Help! Look!(waving her wings)

MR GREGG (Joaco)– What is it, my love?(opens and closes his eyes repeatedly)

CAN’T HOLD US , by Macklemore

The Duck family appears on stage dancing CAN'T HOLD US DANCE , then they take their guns
pointing up at the nest.

PHILIP (Bauti)– Look, Dad! Are those our guns?(points at the guns)

WILLIAM (Lucio)– Are those ducks with guns? Please, don’t shoot!(putting his hands together like
praying)

DUCK MUM(Helena) – Why not? You’re always shooting at us!(prepares herself to shoot the gun)

MR GREGG(Joaco) – But that’s not the same, we are allowed to shoot ducks.(nodding his head)

DUCK DAD(Agustin) – Who allows you?(puts his gun down)

MR GREGG (Joaco)– We allow each other…

DUCK 1(Juani) – Very nice.(smiles) And now we are going to allow each other to shoot you.(laughs
hysterically)

MRS GREGG(Marti VL) – Oh please! My two little children are up here with us. You wouldn’t shoot
my children…(putting her hands together like praying and then takes her children under her wings)

DUCK MUM(Helena) – Yesterday you shot all six of my children.(wipes)

MR GREGG(Joaco) – I will never shoot another duck as long as I live!(falls down on his knees and
puts his hands together like praying)
WILLIAM and PHILIP (Lucio and Bauti)– We promise not to do it again.(both put down on their
knees) Please! Put down the guns.

DUCK DAD(Agustin) – Will you give me your word on that?(comes one step closer with his head
up)

DUCK 1(Juani) – Will you throw away your guns?(comes one step closer with his head up)

MR GREGG, PHILIP and WILLIAM(Joaco, Lucio and Bauti)– We will, we will…(nodding

desperately)

DUCK DAD(Agustin) – Very well. You may now come down.(put their guns down) And by the way,
congratulations on your nest.For a first effort it’s pretty good.(ducks look at each other and nod in
agreement)

GIRL 5(Valentina) – The Gregg family flew down. Then all at once, everything went black, after it
turned to blue, to green, to red and to gold. Suddenly, everything was back to normal once again.

MAGIC GLOW SOUND / SLIDES 21, 22, 23, 24,25, 26

WILLIAM(Lucio) – Our wings have gone and our arms…(spinning on himself looking at his human
body)

PHILIP (Bauti)– and our arms came back.(shaking his arms)

GIRL 5(Valentina) – Good morning, Mrs Gregg!(greeting as she walks towards the Gregg family)

MRS GREGG(Marti VL) – My name is not Gregg anymore. In honour of my feathered friends, I
have changed it from Gregg to Egg.(removes the letter G from the mailbox)

WILLIAM(Lucio) – I will tell you a strange and magical story…(moving his arm showing expectation)

GIRL 5(Valentina) – Those who don’t believe in magic, will never find it. Just believe in magic!

MAGIC WAND SOUND

The girl spins her arm and points to the audience with her magic finger.
