Hansel and Gretel lived in the forest in a tiny cottage with their poor father, who was a
woodcutter, and their evil stepmother. ( Hansel and Gretel livt in de forest ina tainy

IN THE COTTAGE…

FATHER (ESLYN)

What is wrong with you? ( waris rong wiziu?)

STEPMOTHER (IRMA)

Now that the children are sleeping, I have to talk to you. ( nau dat de children ar slipin,

FATHER (ESLYN)

About what? ( ebaut wot?)

STEPMOTHER (IRMA)

We don't have enough food to feed the children. Tomorrow morning we will take them
into the deep woods and will leave them there. ( wi ron jav inof fud to fid de children.

FATHER (ESLYN)

I will not do that to my own children! Do you think that I will leave them there where

STEPMOTHER (IRMA)

She insisted so much in that idea that the woodcutter finally agreed. But Hansel and
Gretel were not sleeping; they were listening to the whole conversation. (shi insistid sou

IN THE DEEP FOREST ….

STEPMOTHER (IRMA)

Don't eat this bread before lunch, because this is all you are going to eat today. ( don’t it

HANSEL / GRETEL ( HEYDI Y JASSY)

We won't. ( wi wont)

NARRATOR 2. (BÁRBARA)

While they were walking, Hansel was leaving trail of breadcrumbs in order to find their
way back home. And when they reached the deep forest, their stepmother said to them:

STEPMOTHER (IRMA)

Hansel and Gretel did as they were told, but then night came. ( Hansel and Gretel did as

HANSEL (HEYDI)

Come on Gretel, it's time to find our way home. ( caman Gretel, is taim to faind oaur

GRETEL (JASSY)

I knew it! The animals ate them! Now what are we going to do? ( ai nu it ! di animols

NARRATOR 2. (BÁRBARA)

They stayed in the cave for a few days without eating, until they finally decided to go
out and find some food to eat. So they walked deeper into the forest when suddenly

AT THE WITCH'S HOUSE….

HANSEL (HEYDI)

This house is weird. Look Gretel! It's all made up of chocolate, cookies, and bread! ( dis

GRETEL (JASSY)

And it's delicious! ( and is delishius)

HANSEL (HEYDI)

I've never tasted anything like this in my whole life! ( aiv never teistid enizen laik dis in

NARRATOR 2. (BÁRBARA)

It was then that a witch opened the door. ( it was den dat a wich opend de door)
WITCH (WENDY)

How did you get here, little children? ( jau diriu get jier, lirol children? )

HANSEL (HEYDI)

We got lost in the forest. ( wi gat lost in de forest)

WITCH (WENDY)

Oh, poor of you! Please, come inside. ( oh, puroviu! Plis, caminsaid)

GRETEL (JASSY)

HANSEL (HEYDI)

WITCH (WENDY)

The two brothers stayed with the witch but Hansel knew deep inside him that there was

GRETEL (JASSY)

What is wrong? ( wats rong)

HANSEL (HEYDI)

Why does she care so much about us, if she doesn't even know us? ( wai das shi ker sou
mach abaut as, if shi dasent iven now as?)

GRETEL (JASSY)

And she gives us so much food! ( and shi givs as sou mach fud!)

HANSEL (HEYDI)

She wants us to be fat ... ( shi wants as tu bi fat…)

GRETEL (JASSY)

To eat us! ( tu it as!)

GRETEL / HANSEL (JASSY Y HEYDI)

Oh No! ( oh nou!)

NARRATOR 2. (BÁRBARA)

The witch was hiding behind the door listening to every word they said. ( de wich was

WITCH (WENDY)

You´re right! ... Get in the oven! ( iur rait! … Guerin di ouven!)

GRETEL / HANSEL (JASSY Y HEYDI)

In the oven? ... It´s too small! ( in de ouven? … is sou smol!)

WITCH (WENDY)

NARRATOR 1. (DIREYDI)

Then the witch got inside the oven and quickly they shut the door, leaving her locked

HANSEL (HEYDI)

Come on ... run!! ... run!! ( camon … ron!! … !!)

NARRATOR 2. (BÁRBARA)

They ran outside the house as fast as they could. They walked for two days until they

IN THE COTTAGE …

HANSEL (HEYDI)

We are finally home! ( wi ar fainali jom )

NARRATOR 1. (DIREYDI)

They knocked at the door and their father opened it. ( dei nokt at de door and deir fader
opend it. )

FATHER (ESLYN)

My dear children! Mai dier children! )

HANSEL / GRETEL (HEYDI Y JASSY)

(hugging) Father!!! ( joguin) fader !!!

FATHER (ESLYN)

My wife died and all this time I have been thinking of you. ( mai waif daied and old is
taim ai jav bin zin oviu. )

HANSEL (HEYDI)

We missed you! ( wi mistiu! )

GRETEL (JASSY)

We suffered a lot but we learned to survive by ourselves. ( wi soferd alat bat wi lernd tu
servaiv bai auarselvz. )

FATHER (ESLYN)

Please forgive me! ( plis forguiv mi)

HANSEL / GRETEL (HEYDI Y JASSY)

We love you, there is nothing to forgive! ( wi loviu, der is nozin tu forguiv! )
