LCP BRIDGING TM
FEATURES
Steel purlins & girts are designed to carry load in one
direction, that is perpendicular to the roof plane.
Purlins/Grirts cannot be allowed to deflect from that
line. Bridging is a method of preventing torsion and
increasing the carrying capacity. It helps the purlins
from twisting and to keep it perpendicular to roof plane.

Bridging is by far the quickest and most common

method to stiffen and enhance the load carrying
capacity of purlins.

MATERIALS
High tensile steel – for high strength and low weight
LCP BRIDGINGTM manufactured using cold rolled formed
Z275 zinc coating – for economic corrosion protection sections with high strength galvanised steel in base
thicknesses ranging from (G550 up to 1mm thick, G500
Economical - can maximise the purlin spacing and up to 1.2mm thick and G450 for thickness greater than
purlin support span. 1.2mm) comes with a Z275 zinc coating (275 grams per
square metre minimum coating mass) in accordance

INSTALLATION
Bridging can be installed up the slope of the roof, starting with fascia bridging, then all intermediate bridging. Then
install the ridge bridging to pull the purlins straight, and finally adjust the fascia bridging to correct fascia purlin twist.

Alternatively, install the ridge bridging and straighten the ridge purlins, then install the immediate bridging to the fascia.
Fix and adjust the fascia bridging for straightness and twist.

Note that on steep roofs or where long bridging runs are used, the turn-buckles used for the ridge bridging are not
intended to pull straight a large number of sagging purlins.

Similarly, care should be taken when girts are used on high wall, whereby long intermediate bridging members are not
subjected to an excessive compressive load.
