In a really (TrAdItioNaL) country like Sri Lanka, elders, heh, they seem to be kind of off the track these

days. No offense but they still don’t understand that this is not the 1940s. These elders seems to have
this common belief, which is the HoRoScOpE! Astrology plays a huge part starting from having an
auspicious time for u to use the toilet, to having your horoscope checked by a scammer for every issue
you have, and using more money when you are already facing financial issues, go in debt, get court
cases and just get a mess into their life! Yep, I know, Sri Lankans are weird! Astrology is an interesting
concept actually, it is the first to figure out a fairytale story through a science fiction concept!

And now, let me tell you some examples for what this Horoscope really is. Once I heard one of my
distant relatives telling my mom “Isn’t it better if you read the Horoscope before her exams? I know a
good place!! Very Good Very Good! He tells the truth instantly!!!”. And well, my mom got interested
aswell and I had to go to this so called place. And when I saw the queue…(pause with surprise). THERE
WAS ABOUT 100 PEOPLE!!! 100 PEOPLE WAS WAITING TO GET A PIECE OF PAPER READ TO CREATE A
FANTASY STORY BY A SCAMMER!!!!! HOW RIDICULOUS IS THAT!!! And then after waiting like 100 hours,
or atleast that’s how it felt like, I finally saw this magic man! He was in a serious posture, probably
gathering up energy to read my planets and starts! And then he spoke “You came here for a marriage
reading right? Ahahahahhaha! I knew itt!!” And also remember I was just 16!!! My mom said “Noooo
Noo Nono! Its for a exam prediction!” I saw the change in his face and I knew he is just another good old
scammer but my mom then whispered ‘He is the guy! He is the guy!! See he knows everything!’…..what
was in my mind was just full dissapointment that I even agreed to going there! Then we sat down, also
in the floor for some reason although there was some chairs right beside us, and then he started doing
this weird thing, a so called chant and then in the middle he goes “OOHOHOHOH I SEE SOMETHING!! I
SEE SOMETHING!!” and my mom is really keen on knowing what it is. He says ‘Ohh she will pass the
exam with 9As!! I see I see!! Very intelligent!!’, when I kind of got interested he stated “Ahhhh but her
jupiter is touching mars so sunlight cant travel through her brain, so we have to get a BLUE GEM!! It’s in
our store for just…Nothing much just 50,000!! 50,000!!!!??? BLUE GEM??? SUNLIGHT??? I was so
confused about what he was talking abt but my mom..well she was like (smile and nod)! And in the end
SHE EVEN BOUGHT THIS BLUE GEM THING!! AND I HAD TO WEAR THIS WHEN I WAS WRITING MY
EXAMS!!!

And time passed on and the results were announced, Mom was like “9AS 9AS 9AS 9AS!!! THE GEM
SHOULD HAVE WORKED!!! And guess what, it was not! I was not that surprised, I still had a good result
but that’s when my mom realised! Took her loongg enough!

This is when I realised I can use this for my advantage! Once when I wanted to cut my hair I used my
horoscope as an excuse saying that my hair is the reason I cant study and it is abosorbinggg all my
Astrological Energy or whatever! Also when I wanted to cut school I stayed home saying the placements
are not right today! And the funny part is they BELIEVED ALL THIS!!!

Also there was this one other time where one of my friends who is 30 years old and his girlfriend who
was 27 planning to marry. Suddenly the Brides family REFUSED!!! You might be curious to know why!
They say that it is not good for her to marry until she reaches 30 because her mars is on retrograde!!! I
REALLY WANTED TO BURY MYSELF WHEN I HEARD THAT!!!
All these showcases how stupid people can be when they are dilusional and unaware of how these
smooth tounged hyporcrites scams people. These sort of relatives who recommends advices, and even
these “Oscar Worthy Actors” will not be there when you fell down in the pit. When you take action,
people will be there to advice and manipulate you, but when you fail through those, they will be gone.
Nobody is ready to take any responsibility of what they have done which put you into issues. So
remember, always have a piece of mind, and work on your own instincts. Yes, advices matters, but just
for consideration, do not all into traps. Because in the end, its you! Not others!
