SPECIFICATIONS

GENERAL INFORMATION
FPV sedan and ute wheels and tyres vary in
specification from other Falcon models. This
supplement contains unique information specifically
for these vehicles, and is in addition to section 204-04
of the BF Falcon Workshop Manual. For additional
detailed wheel and tyre service information,
precautions, and procedures, refer to BF Falcon
Workshop Manual, Section 204-04.

DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

Wheels should be taken during driving and parking to avoid
potentially damaging obstacles and road surfaces.
The road wheels are of the double safety rim type. Tyres should be regularly checked for damage,
particularly sidewall blisters and bulges.
FPV Sedan Wheels
The rear wheels fitted to the FPV sedans have a Spare Wheel and Tyre
reduced positive off-set, giving a wide rear track. The
spare wheel is of the same off-set as the front wheels. The spare wheel is a full-size matching alloy wheel.
The tyre is mounted to the wheel as a left-hand
assembly. The spare may be fitted to the right hand

Tyre Pressures
The tyre pressures quoted are cold pressures. In this
context, the tyre temperature is considered ’hot’ after
extended motoring at speed. Under certain extreme
conditions of operation, a tyre may require up to one
hour at rest before it can be considered ’cold’.
Tyre Wear
If irregular wear is noticed, check the wheel bearings
and front suspension ball joints for excess play and
also check the front suspension geometry.
Tyre Care
It is essential that the recommended minimum
inflation pressures are always maintained. Radial ply
tyres may appear under-inflated at the correct
recommended pressures. This is normal and they
should never be inflated beyond the pressures
recommended by the tyre manufacturer, which are
typically shown on the tyre’s sidewall.

GENERAL PROCEDURES

Wheel and Tyre Rotation

1. Tyre rotation should be performed at the intervals
detailed in the service schedule.

NOTE: The rear wheels fitted to FPV sedans have a

different off-set to the front wheels. Consequently, tyre
rotation must be performed by removing the tyres
from the rims.
Refer to section 204-04 of the Falcon Workshop
Manual for other general procedures.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Removing and Installing the Centre

Cap
Removal
1. To remove the centre cap, push the cap’s
retaining spring clips inwards, one at a time with
the flat end of the wheel nut lever. Keep firm
pressure on the back of the cap with your
finger(s) or other available tool while doing this.
The cap will then pop out.
NOTE: Take care not to allow the centre cap to
drop onto a surface that could damage it (use a
clean rag or other soft material to catch it).

Installation
1. The centre cap can be fitted to the wheel by
pushing the cap firmly in until it clicks into place.
The cap must be kept quite straight whilst doing
this, not letting it cock to one side. No tools are
required for installation.
