ASPERGER’S SYNDROME

An Infographic by Mencias & Manalastas

What is Asperger’s Syndrome?

Asperger’s Syndrome (AS) is a

developmental disorder affecting
social skills, social relations, patterns,
and behaviors.

It is a part of the Autism Spectrum

Disorder (ASD) and is sometimes
referred to as High-Functioning
Autism. AS is no longer a diagnosis
in itself.

What causes Asperger’s Syndrome?

Similar to other types of autism, there is no known cause for

Asperger’s Syndrome. However, it is widely believed to be
hereditary and lasts for the entirety of an individual’s life.

Since Asperger’s is considered to be a milder form of autism, a

person with AS may function normally and appear neurotypical.

However, some people who have symptoms of AS grow into

adulthood without knowing it or receiving help.
