Cabo Delgado covers an area of approximately 77,867 square kilometers (30,063 square
miles) and has a diverse geographical landscape. Cabo Delgado offers beautiful sandy
beaches and natural harbors. Inland, the province is characterized by rolling hills, rivers,
and forests, including parts of the Quirimbas National Park.
The population of Cabo Delgado is predominantly rural, with a mix of ethnic groups,
including the Makonde, Makua, and Swahili people. The province has a rich cultural
heritage, with traditional customs, dances, and music that reflect the local traditions and
history.
Economically, Cabo Delgado is known for its significant natural resources. It is home to
large deposits of natural gas, particularly in the Rovuma Basin, which has attracted
major international investments in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector. The
exploitation of these resources has the potential to transform the region's economy and
contribute to Mozambique's overall development.
