HOWTO CHANGE A SHAPEFILE COORDINATE SYSTEM TO USE WITH

SOM

1. Download Quantum GIS Desktop from:

http://hub.qgis.org/projects/quantum-gis/wiki/Download

2. Install it.

3. Run Quantum GIS Desktop

4. Import your shapefile using: Layer/Add Vector Layer ...

5. Select your shapefile clicking on Browse:

6. When loaded, click on Settings/Project Properties ...

7. Activate Enable 'on the fly' CRS transformation
Write "wgs 84" on filter textbox
Finally select Geographic Coordinate System/WGS 84 on Coordinate reference systems of
the world list:
8. Now you will see the project is using this coordinate system:
9. Then you can export your shapefile. Right click on your shapefile and select Save As ...
10. Select the path and name of your modified shapefile
Select "Project CRS"on CRS list
Click Ok
