Overview
Summary
GE Digital Energy introduces enhancements to the Multilin 469 Motor Management Relay through the release of
firmware version 5.20, and EnerVista Setup Software version 5.20.

Highlights of the Firmware release include:

 Loss of Communications Detection

 Improved Starter Failure Alarm

In the following enhancement descriptions, a revision category letter is placed to the left of the

Multilin 469 Motor Management Relay - Firmware Version 5.20

N Loss of Communications Detection

The Multilin 469 Motor Management Relay has been enhanced to provide a loss of communication detection
feature. Upon detection of a loss of communications, the Multilin 469 relay will activate an alarm or trip assigned
output relays. Based on the relay’s selected communications options on the Multilin 469 relay, any one of the
following ports may be selected for loss of communications monitoring:
- COMPUTER RS485
- AUXILIARY RS485
- Ethernet 10Base-T
- DeviceNet

Please refer to the Multilin SR469 instruction manual (document # GEK-106474M) section 5.12.5 for more details.

U Improved Starter Failure Alarm

In previous firmware versions (version 5.12 and prior) for the Multilin 469 relay, the Starter Failure Alarm Delay
would always function in 200ms, ignoring the delay setting. Firmware version 5.20 corrects this issue.

Multilin 469 EnerVista Setup Software Version 5.20

N Support for Loss of Communications Detection

The Multilin 469 EnerVista Setup Software Version 5.20 has been enhanced to support the Loss of
Communication Detection feature. The following setpoints have been added to the setup software under the
following menu: Settings -> Monitoring -> Loss of comms
The specific setpoints added to support this enhancement is as follows:

LOSS OF COMMS Trips (ACTUAL VALUES->Maintenance->TripCounters)

This upgrade can be done either via Multilin EnerVista Launchpad or by direct download from the following site:

If using GE’s EnerVista Launchpad, please follow these steps:


1. Open Multilin EnerVista Launchpad
2. Click “IED Setup”
3. Click “Check Updates”. Note: this will check for available updates for all of the IED setup software shown.
4. Select the 469 version 5.20 upgrade for download.
