that applies to ALL human languages and books: Zipf’s Law, which “states that

thereason the Quran does not follow Zipf’s law in the actual word rankings compiled from its

Actually the statement of the ultraviolet catastrophe is more complicated than it needs to be to
explain why quantization is needed: it brings you down the rabbit hole of having to understand
modes in a cavity, and the fact that there are more ultraviolet modes than infrared modes and so on.
It’s not the cleanest statement that it could be.
A simpler version is the question is as follows: why do hot objects seem to have a characteristic
wavelength that depends on its temperature, with the characteristic wavelength shortening with
higher temperatures?

energy scales and length scales, so as you heat up a system, you would expect all wavelengths to be
excited equally.

modes than long wavelength ones, with the number increasing as the inverse of the wavelength
squared. If there is really no difference in energy between these modes, then there should be more
and more radiation produced by the blackbody cavity at shorter and shorter wavelengths.
With quantization, an object at a certain temperature will now distribute less energy into shorter
wavelength modes, even if there are way more of them. On the other hand, there are fewer modes at
long wavelengths to distribute energy into. Somewhere in between is a nice compromise between
these two extremes, and that sets the characteristic wavelength. You can easily estimate the
characteristic wavelength to occur at λc≈hckBT��≈ℎ����. This resolves the ultraviolet catastrophe,
and also tells you why the color of light emitted is closely associated with the temperature of the
object.
