The EcbingrEen prototype has been created by students from the University of Baguio who are pursuing

a Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering. This prototype has the capability to segregate three
types of garbage: Paper, Plastic, and Metal.

To initiate the operation of this prototype, the switch must be turned on to power up the system. The
LCD will display the message "PLEASE WAIT," while the DC motor in the input compartment and the
servo motor move to their home positions. Once the startup process is complete, a short buzzer will
sound to indicate readiness.

The LCD display will then change to "WAITING FOR NEW MATERIAL." At this point, garbage falling into
the specified classifications can be placed in the input compartment.

An ultrasonic sensor will detect the presence of material in the input compartment, activating when the
distance is 10cm or less. The LCD will display the text "CLASSIFYING MATERIAL." An Infrared sensor,
mounted on the side, will be responsible for determining whether the material is paper or plastic. The
principle behind this is that when the Infrared light penetrates the material and returns to the
transmitter, it can identify whether the material is plastic or paper. Additionally, a metal sensor
mounted at the bottom of the input compartment detects the presence of metal materials.

After classifying the type of garbage, the LCD will display the classification, accompanied by a short
buzzer beep and the illumination of a corresponding LED. The servo motor will adjust its position based
on the material type. Following that, the motor in the input compartment will activate to release the
garbage, directing it to the appropriate bin. When no material is detected by the ultrasonic sensor in the
input compartment, the LCD prompt will change to "CLASSIFYING COMPLETE," and both the motor in
the input compartment and the ultrasonic sensor will return to their original positions. The LCD will then
display the message "WAITING FOR NEW MATERIAL" again.

To indicate the level of each bin, three Ultrasonic sensors are positioned in each classification beneath
the system, facing the respective garbage bins. These sensors are calibrated to detect if the bins reach or
fall below a distance of 10 cm. When this threshold is met, a buzzer will sound, signaling that a bin is full.
Additionally, the LCD will display the corresponding message based on the bin type: "METAL BIN IS
FULL" for the metal bin, "PLASTIC BIN IS FULL" for the plastic bin, and "PAPER BIN IS FULL" for the paper
bin.
