DESCRIPTIVE TITLE: Data Mining

TARGET POPULATION : BS. Information Technology II

SUBJET CREDIT: 3 units

TARGETED NUMBER OF HOURS: 3 hours

PRE REQUISITES:

I. SUBJECT DESCRIPTION: This course is a process of discovering patterns and relationships in large data sets by using statistical,
algorithmic and machine learning techniques.
II. GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

A. COGNITIVE:

- Understand the key concepts, theories and methods used in data mining.This includes knowledge of machine learning algorithms, statistical
methods and database management.
- Interpret data mining results as well as explain the underlying processes and techniques.

B. AFFECTIVE:
- Develop an interest in data mining and a desire to learn more about the subject
- Develop a positive attitude towards data mining and its potential impact on various fields and industries
- Motivated to apply what they learned in the classroom to real-world problems and data sets
- Develop confidence in their ability to use data mining techniques and tools to solve problems
- Develop a sense of responsibility to use their knowledge and skills in a responsible ways.

-Manipulate data sets, extract patterns, and generate insights.


-Operate data mining software and tools to perform various data analysis tasks, such as clustering, classification, and regression.
-Implement data mining algorithms, models, and techniques to solve real-world problems and data sets.
-Diagnose and resolve problems that arise during the data mining process, including issues with data quality, model selection, and algorithm
performance.
- Visualize tools and techniques to effectively communicate data mining results, including charts, graphs, and maps.
