Supplementing and
Replacing Material
Here, we'll look at supplementary material. A coursebook may require supplementation
in a number of different areas, but the following are the most commonest, that are:
Reading & Listening: There are several existing coursebooks that focus on certain skills like
as reading and listening and can be chosen to meet the level of the learners. This manner,
teachers may select exercises from the book to assess and quantify the level of their
students.
Pronounciation: Some pronunciation coursebooks include a cassette tape for students to
practice their pronunciation according to their level.
Vocabulary: These vocabulary can be linked in with topic areas which come up in the main
coursebook, and learners can have the opportunity to widen their vocabulary in connection
with topics which interest them.
Grammar: Grammar coursebooks are typically used to accompany books such as
communicative coursebooks, which include supplementary material such as grammar rules
and exercises.
