Magazine/Newspaper/Website Assignment # 3

The article talked about how there was a student named Lee majoring in math and he became a
learning assistant who helped fellow students and peers create an active learning environment. He
didn’t want the students to feel uncomfortable or like they could not come to him about the things/
questions they needed and wanted to ask. He reminded them that he was a student like them and that it
is okay to ask for help. The LA experience has given a lot of students the opportunity to change lives by
giving students career opportunities to become teachers.

I liked this article because of the fact that students have the opportunity to ask help from their
peers thanks to the Learning Assistant Program and that the students don’t have to be scared or
uncomfortable to ask questions and come to someone that is not their teacher. I also like that the LA
Program spans across multiple courses of study/ learning and that the LA program is meant to boost
confidence in students and help them learn and grow. I wish when I was in High school, they had a LA
program to help us all out. I think the LA program is a great opportunity for students to learn more and
grow.
