This study aims to understand


individual differences in reasoning
across cultures and the factors
associated with it. It is conducted by an
international team of researchers from
the Philippines and partner countries,
and is funded by the Templeton World
Charity Foundation, Inc.

You are eligible to participate if you are:


18 years old or above
A Filipino citizen residing in the
Philippines
Have internet connection
Willing to forward a survey link via
email to 2 other participants

Questions
WHAT WILL I BE EXPECTED TO DO
AS A PARTICIPANT?
You will be asked to rate your agreement to some
statements about your cognitions, emotions, and
behaviors. This will involve answering
approximately 200 questions and should take
about 60 to 90 minutes.

After completing the items, you will be expected to


forward a separate survey invitation via email to 2
people whom you consider to be close contacts
who know you well. Your close contacts need to:
be 18 years old and above;
be a Filipino citizen residing in the Philippines;
have access to the internet

If your two nominees do not wish to participate,


you will still receive your token for completing the
survey. However, if your two nominees accomplish
the survey you will receive an additional token.

Questions
WHAT WILL MY INVITED CLOSE CONTACTS BE
EXPECTED TO DO AS PARTICIPANTS?

They will be asked to answer a shorter survey.


Specifically, they will be asked to respond to items
that are related to what you accomplished. For
some items, we will request them to think of you
as the subject of those statements. This should
take no longer than 10-15 minutes for them to
complete. They will receive a token of Php 50.00
for accomplishing their survey.

Note: The participants you will invite do not need


to nominate anyone else to participate in the
study.

Questions
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR ME TO FINISH THE
SURVEY?
Participating in this survey will involve answering
approximately 200 questions and should take around
60 to 90 minutes. We recommend finding a quiet and
comfortable spot where you can focus on answering
the survey.

CAN I STOP ANSWERING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE


SURVEY?
You can completely withdraw from the study at any
time. You will be included in the study only after you
have given your consent to participate by filling up a
consent form. Please notify the researchers if you
wish to withdraw your consent.

ARE THERE ANY SPECIAL EQUIPMENT OR TOOLS


THAT I MAY NEED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE
STUDY?
All you will be needing is steady internet connection
and a device that can access the survey, such as a
smartphone, tablet, or laptop.

ARE THERE REIMBURSEMENTS


FOR PARTICIPATION?
There will be no reimbursements for
participation and no class credit of any kind.
However, a token of Php 100.00 will be
remitted to your chosen mobile wallet account
within 7 working days once you accomplish the
survey and send a survey invitation via email to
two people who know you very well.

If your nominees decline to participate or fail to


respond within 7 working days, you may send
the email to two more people.

Once two of your nominees complete the


survey, you will receive an additional token of
Php 50.00. This token will be remitted to your
chosen mobile wallet account within 7 working
days.

WHAT KIND OF INFORMATION WILL I BE
SHARING WHEN I CHOOSE TO
PARTICIPATE?
Most of the information that you provide will
revolve around your thought processes, your
interpersonal experiences, and your
knowledge of yourself. You may decline from
providing any information that you may not be
comfortable with sharing at any point of the
study.

WILL THERE BE CONSEQUENCES IF I


CHOOSE NOT TO PARTICIPATE?
Your participation in this study is completely
voluntary, and there will be no consequences if
you choose not to participate. If you decide to
participate, you do not have to answer any
questions you do not wish to.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE INFORMATION THAT
I WILL PROVIDE?
The identifying information that you provide (such as
your name) will be replaced with a participant code and
will not be directly linked back to you. These personal
and identifying details will not be included in this
study’s data analysis. Documentary records will be
stored securely, and these will be accessible only to the
research team. Members of the research team are
obligated towards the non-disclosure and protection of
your personal data.

The responses you and other participants provide to


the items on this survey will be analysed, and the
findings of this study will be publicised through
scientific publications and conferences. The data
records of this study will be destroyed five years after
its completion.

We expect to accomplish the study report by


December 2022. If you wish to receive a copy of the
