EXT. EARTH - SPACE


Like all images of Earth seen from space, this image of our
planet is mythical and majestic. Silence. Just a section of
it fills the screen.
The globe seems almost tangible, slowly spinning, floating in
the endless void of space. It is a blue planet, and bright
white clouds twirl and stretch in capricious patterns across
the deep blue of the oceans and the jigsaw of continents.

SUPER: "65 MILLIONS YEARS AGO"


Tranquility is broken when a METEOR appears miles away,
falling like a shooting star toward Earth.
It BURNS in the atmosphere as it disappears behind the
curvature of the globe, vanishing from our view completely.

A long beat.
Then --

-- A SHOCK WAVE RIPPLES ACROSS THE GLOBE.


The clouds SPREAD momentarily for moments later to cluster
again, DARKER. Dense.

EXT. OCEAN - DUSK

An almost apocalyptic scene: DARK CLOUDS crackling above,


raging TIDES capable of wrecking any ship, deafening
THUNDERS.

CAMERA DROPS INTO THE WATER --

EXT. OCEAN DEPTHS - CONTINUOUS

-- DIVING into the depths of the sea ever deeper.


There are glimpses of PREHISTORIC FISHES as we go to the
bottom. With every second we descend, the light fades,
getting further away from the chaos on the surface.
After a moment of free-fall toward the seabed, we are in
PITCH BLACK.
And everything is finally QUIET.

Until... the muffled sound of rocks CRACKING and GRATING


tears the silence.
It's getting LOUDER and CLOSER.

THEN -- A CREVICE SPLITS OPEN on the seabed.


Inside the gap, a growing VOLCANIC LIGHT leaks from the
interior of the rocks, causing the water to BOIL.

Merged with this, a GUTTURAL and PRIMITIVE GROAN sounds like


a sleeping snore. Unlike from any living creature we know.

CUT TO BLACK.
The first of the CREDITS appears over a black screen.

FADE TO:

INT. PRIVATE OFFICE - NIGHT

This whole sequence is shot using only extreme CLOSE UPS of


hands, book sheets, pens, brushes, inks.
A MAN, with his back to us, works at his desk, writing and
painting. We NEVER see his face.
As he works, the sound of various NEWSCASTS are heard over
the scene.

NEWSCAST (V.O.)
The world lives a new era. Super
powerful beings manifested
themselves after the arrival of the
alien known as Superman. However,
this divided opinions around the
world.

HARD CUT TO BLACK UNDER:

More of the CREDITS appear.


ANOTHER NEWSCAST (V.O.)
The Secretary of Defense Amanda
Waller held a conference this
afternoon at the White House
claiming that the government will
not succumb to these vigilantes,
with powers or not.

INT. PRIVATE OFFICE - NIGHT

CLOSE ON: the hand of the mysterious man writing on a page


vigorously.

NEWSCAST (V.O.)
-- a terrorist group was caught in
Midway City by a pair of winged
vigilantes during an attack in the
financial district. No one was
injured.

As the man flips the page --


BACK TO BLACK UNDER:

More credits appear on screen.

ANOTHER NEWSCAST (V.O.)


The war now extended into the
oceans. Another oil rig was
destroyed by what workers dubbed,
"The Aquaman".

INT. PRIVATE OFFICE - NIGHT


CLOSE ON: instead of writing, the man now sweetly paints a
sheet with a paintbrush.
NEWSCAST (V.O.)
More information has just arrived:
the police clashed with the
vigilante of Starling City. The
persecution spread through the
streets, but the criminal managed
to escape.
The man dabs the tip of the paintbrush in the ink and back to
paint the page.

NEWSCAST (V.O.) (CONT'D)
Any information you have about the
suspect, inform the authorities.

They are freaks! All of them! -- I
do not feel so safe with these
loose creatures -- they're
defending the world, and we have to
thank them -- all they do is
destroy! -- these superheroes are a
new hope for mankind --

INT. PRIVATE OFFICE - NIGHT

CLOSE ON: after finishing writing his last page, the man
closes the book.

NEWSCAST (V.O.)
The new S.T.A.R. Labs building in
downtown Metropolis will be
inaugurated next month with the
support of LexCorp.

The man opens a drawer under his desk. He pulls a REVOLVER


from within, checks its bullets -- cylinder full.

ANOTHER NEWSCAST (V.O.)


Here is Metropolis News bringing
the world news to you.

The man raises the gun toward his own head. As he FIRES,
BLOWING UP HIS BRAINS --

CUT TO:

EXT. EARTH - SPACE

Unlike the first time, the presence of civilization on the


continents below is now remarkable.

A SATELLITE glides across the screen, wandering the Earth’s


orbit.

FEMALE VOICE (PRE-LAP)


-- and the world we live in today,
have those people wanting to help
society...

INT. TELEVISION STUDIO - DAY

The HOST of the show sits between the reporter LOIS LANE and
a SENATOR of Metropolis.

LOIS
... we would only have to gain with
them.

SENATOR
"People"? Is that what you call
those things? Please! We don’t know
if all of them are human at least.
LOIS
These "things", senator, saved more
people in this country than you on
your mandate.
The Senator gets visibly offended.

SENATOR
What? Who do you think you are to
talk to me like that?
LOIS
Lois Lane, winner of the Pulitzer
Prize, very pleased.
The host realizes that the discussion is overheating.
HOST
Well, after these statements, I
think we will go to the merchan --
SENATOR
(cutting in)
Do not think that just because of
an idiot prize can say whatever you
want! I can process you.
LOIS
Process me? What if I process you
for bribery?
HOST
Please, calm...

SENATOR
You do not know what you're getting
into, Ms. Lane. I bet you supports
these vigilantes just because you
"interviewed" Superman.

LOIS
(indignantly)
Excuse me -- What do you mean?

SENATOR
Nothing... just a reporter who won
the Pulitzer Prize is eager to have
a "super-baby."
After hearing that, Lois doesn’t control herself and ADVANCES
toward the Senator like a berserker.

LOIS
You son of...!
But the host of the show grabs Lois seconds before she
reaches the Senator and tries to keep her away.

HOST
Miss Lane, please!

INT. NEWSROOM - DAILY PLANET - DAY

It's a madhouse as reporters on the phone, watching TVs, on


computers, calling out to each other etc.
JIMMY OLSEN -- the young journal photographer -- watches Lois
Lane on a TV.
Beside him is CLARK KENT, wearing a suit, tie, and thick
glasses. He turns off the TV.

JIMMY
C’mon, Mr. Kent! Now that it would
be exciting!
CLARK
I think Lois would not want to
comment about this, Jimmy.
JIMMY
But we would not comment about it.
It’s just between us... and the
rest of building... maybe.
Clark smiles and walks back to his desk. Jimmy follows him,
sits on the edge of the desk.

JIMMY (CONT'D)
The whole media is boiling after
this vigilante outbreak. They said
people saw a guy with bird wings in
skies of Midway City.

CLARK
Maybe Perry send you to go
photograph him someday.

JIMMY
It would be awesome, but who I want
to catch really is this guy...
Jimmy picks up his cellphone and types something. Seconds
later, he shows it to Clark.

ON JIMMY’S PHONE: a headline from the GOTHAM JOURNAL about


the mysterious "BATMAN".
CLARK
The people do not say he's a legend
of Gotham?
JIMMY
You can't believe everything you
hear, Mr. Kent. He will still
appear.
CLARK
I’ll be cheering for you, Jimmy.

EXT. MOVING OVER GOTHAM CITY - DAY


The Gothic and dangerous city. It seems peaceful at this time
of day.

SUPER: GOTHAM CITY"

INT. CAFE - DAY

Families eat at the tables, groups of friends chat, customers


come in and out every moment.
COMMISSIONER GORDON lunches alone at the counter.

When he's about to finish his pie, a man walks into the cafe.
Meet HARVEY BULLOCK.
He spots Gordon and approaches him.

BULLOCK
There you are. Next time try to
leave your phone turned on.
Gordon pulls out his cell phone and shows Bullock that he has
not received any messages.
GORDON
It's on. Are you sure you sent to
the right number?

Realization hits Bullock.


BULLOCK
(to himself)
Shit.
(then)
Anyway, Kevin and Goldsmith
arrested a possible suspect
involved in that cases of
kidnapping.
GORDON
He has been interrogated?

BULLOCK
That's why I came to you.
Gordon finishes lunch and takes his coat off the back of the
seat.

GORDON
Let's go.
He and Bullock leave.

EXT. POLICE STATION - DAY


Bullock's car pulls up in front of the building. Gordon and
Bullock get out of the vehicle as we HEAR:
BULLOCK (V.O.)
Ethan Wright. 32.

INT. BULLPEN - POLICE STATION - DAY


A bustling hive of activity -- COPS, DETECTIVES, PERPS and
LAWYERS all zipping about the bullpen.

Gordon walks down the place flanked by Bullock while he reads


a file in hands.
BULLOCK
At the time, it seemed to be just
an ordinary prison for theft. But
Kevin found something hanging on
his neck.
Bullock shows a PICTURE of a strange MEDALLION attached to a
chain. Gordon gets intrigued to see that.
BULLOCK (CONT'D)
Looks familiar?

GORDON
It's like the other cases we found.
Surely this guy knows something.

INT. INTERROGATION ROOM - POLICE STATION - DAY

ETHAN WRIGHT sits alone with his handcuffed hands on the


table. Quiet.
A moment later, Gordon enters toting a file folder with him.
Then he sits across the prisoner.
ETHAN
Are you going to take me to jail,
finally?

GORDON
Not yet, Mr. Wright, I want to have
a conversation with you before.

ETHAN
About the fail theft? I already
told them everything.
GORDON
Not exactly.

Gordon takes the same picture of the medallion that Bullock


showed and puts it on the table to Ethan see too.
GORDON (CONT'D)
I want more information about this
object, since it was found in your
possession.
As Ethan looks at the photo, unpleasant memories pop up in
his mind, but he tries to ignore it.
ETHAN
(flinches)
That's just... just a cord for
garnish.
GORDON
Garnish?
Gordon opens the folder and pulls out some papers and more
pictures, and shows all to Ethan. He tries not to express his
HORROR.
ON THE PHOTOS: VICTIMS OF MURDER -- and some of them are
CHILDREN, while others, teenagers.

And in some pictures, there are the medallion symbol on a


cloth -- a kind of BIG EYE.

Ethan turns his head away.


GORDON (CONT'D)
These sacrifice" took place 3
months ago and all involve this
symbol. Still garnish for you?
It's hard to Ethan talk about it. He knows it's wrong, but he
gives up.

ETHAN
I never felt good about this... but
it was necessary. We had to do.
GORDON
You participated in other cases?
ETHAN
(beat)
Some. Yes.
GORDON
What happens if there are no
sacrifices?
Ethan HESITATES.
ETHAN
It will come... and will punish the
Earth of all those who live on it.
Gordon can feel real FEAR in ETHAN's words.
GORDON
Tell me what you fear. Maybe we can
help you in some way.
ETHAN
No, there is nothing to do. We need
to give the offerings so that it is
satisfied, even if...
Ethan stops. It's hard to admit what he did.
GORDON
At least tell me where there will
be the next sacrifice. Help me save
an innocent soul.

Beat as Ethan considers. His mind is now in conflict, part of


him wants to tell Gordon but the other is still devoted to
the secret cult.
Seeing that Ethan plans to remain silent, Gordon stands.
GORDON (CONT'D)
If you seek some kind of
redemption, you better start
trying. This way things will only
get worse for you.
Gordon pushes the photos of the other victims closer to
Ethan.
GORDON (CONT'D)
Because more blood will bathe your
hands.

As Gordon walks toward the door, Ethan stares at the


pictures. A sense of guilt and regret weighs on his
conscience at the sight of those dead people.
Ethan grabs his head with eyes closed as tears trickle down.
As Gordon grips the door knob, about to leave...
ETHAN
Wait!

... he stops and turns to Ethan, who looks at him with his
teary eyes.
ETHAN (CONT'D)
They... they... there will be a new
sacrifice in the old church on the
West Side. That's all I know, I
swear.
GORDON
Good job, son.

Gordon nods to Ethan and leaves.

INT. OBSERVATION ROOM - POLICE STATION - DAY


Gordon joins Bullock, who watched the whole interrogation
through the two-way mirror.
BULLOCK
Are we really going to consider
what he said?

GORDON
You saw how he spoke -- that man is
broken inside, I could feel the
fear in his voice. And I will not
risk having to see another dead kid
in the newspaper tomorrow.
Gordon heads off.

EXT. CENTRAL CITY - DAY


An AIRBORNE view of the city.
SUPER: "CENTRAL CITY"

INT. BARRY'S LAB - CENTRAL CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT - DAY


CAMERA PANS ACROSS a bunch of CHEMICAL EQUIPMENT on a table,
as well as piles of papers and files scattered everywhere.
VOICE (O.S.)
You know, I was thinking to myself:
how could a nobody like me get
someone as perfect as you?

REVEAL: BARRY ALLEN. Seated in his chair, dressed in a LAB


COAT, with his feet stretched out on the table while he talks
passionately on the phone.
BARRY
I mean, not that I'm complaining.
We hear a sweet LAUGH on the other side of the line.

EXT. CENTRAL CITY STREET - DAY


IRIS WEST -- a beautiful, smart young woman -- strides down
the sidewalk talking to Barry on her phone.
IRIS
Did you call me just to tell me
about your deep thought?
BARRY (V.O.)
Why? Sounds pretty justifiable to
me.

INT. BARRY'S LAB - CENTRAL CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT - INTERCUT


The conversation continues.

IRIS
I was planning on scheduling that
dinner for next week, what do you
think?
BARRY
Next week? What happened this time?
IRIS
You know, the usual. Jeffrey is
pushing me more and more stuff to
cover up and making me want to
multiply myself in four.

BARRY
Four Iris would not be a bad idea.
Are not there other reporters for
him to use as well?
IRIS
Surely there is, but guess who's
his favorite. I have to go -- maybe
I'll visit you after work.

BARRY
I can't wait.
IRIS
Send a hug to dad.
Iris hangs up the phone and enters the building of the city
newspaper.
That's when DETECTIVE JOE WEST -- charismatic good cop and
Iris' father -- appears at the doorway of the lab.
DET. WEST
Hey, Allen!
Barry quickly pulls his feet off the desk and gets up,
turning to Joe.
BARRY
Oh, hey Joe, Iris sent a--

DET. WEST
Suit up, we're going to the subway
now.
Joe walks off, leaving Barry with a puzzled stare.

INT. SUBWAY PLATFORM - DAY


A CRIME SCENE TAPE cordons part of the platform. Cops
surround the area in addition to some PARAMEDICS treating
three people with GUNSHOT WOUNDS.
At the edge of the platform, a dead SUBWAY GUARD is lying
flat on the floor with a pool of BLOOD under his head. Eyes
wide open, staring at the ceiling. A GUN in his motionless
hand.

Joe and Barry -- who now wears his CSI outfit -- come in.
Barry is horrified by what he sees there.
BARRY
My God. What happened here, Joe?
DET. WEST
The witnesses said that the guard
suddenly began to feel strange,
complaining of a very intense
headache.
Barry lifts the yellow tape to pass and approach the corpse
of the guard. He crouches beside it, scanning.
DET. WEST (CONT'D)
Then he started to speak randomly,
asking the voices to shut up. Then
he drew his gun and... well, we
already know the rest.

BARRY
What voices were he listening to?
DET. WEST
According to the witnesses, they
were from the head of the guard
himself. The strangest thing is
that he has no history of mental
illness.

Off Barry, staring at the dead man, pensive.

EXT. OPEN SEA - DAY


FLYING over calm blue waters. There is nothing around but sea
that extends as far as the eye can reach, except for...
... AN ISLAND looming in the distance. The only thing
standing out there.

SUPER: "THEMYSCIRA"
15.

EXT. TRAINING GROUNDS - THEMYSCIRA - DAY


DOZENS of ARMORED FEMALE WARRIORS -- AMAZONS -- are engaged
in a dazzling array of training exercises.
They spar with BO STAVES, KNIVES, SWORDS. Practice ARCHERY,
SPEAR THROWING, and LASSO from horseback.

Among them we find PRINCESS DIANA. Athletic, tall. Her jet


black hair sways gracefully with her movements.
Diana faces off more FOUR AMAZONS at once -- all of them
wielding shield and swords. Despite this, Diana shows that
she is able to deal with the situation.
Around them, some Amazons watch. One of them is ANTIOPE,
general of the Amazon army. The other is LYLA, Diana's best
friend. And finally, HIPPOLYTA -- Queen of the Amazons and
mother of Diana.

SPARKS fly as swords and shields CLASH. Diana is visibly a


warrior superior to all others, knocking down her opponents
with precise techniques.
But one of the Amazons strikes from behind. Diana turns to
shield herself, but the blow knocks the shield out of her
hand. Rapidly, Diana KICKS the Amazon in the chest, dropping
her in the muddy ground.

Antiope picks up the BOW and an ARROW of an Amazon next to


her, and prepares to shoot at Diana while she fights the last
standing Amazon. Then she FIRES.
Diana is focused on her duel when she suddenly SENSES
something. In a flash of movement, Diana JERKS her opponent
away and spins...
... BLOCKING THE INCOMING ARROW WITH HER METAL BRACELET.
Diana looks at Antiope.

ANTIOPE
The enemy will come from where you
least expect it, do not trust only
what your eyes see.
Diana nods to Antiope. As she turns around back to her
opponent...
... the Amazon crash tackles Diana unexpectedly to the
ground, staying on top of her.

The Amazon grabs Diana's sword on the ground and readies to


deliver the final blow. Hippolyta and Lyla watch with
concern.

As the Amazon fighter SWINGS the sword down...


... Diana PARRIES the blade with a bracelet, and UPPERCUTS
the Amazon squarely in the chin with another hand -- throwing
the warrior BACKWARDS.

Diana jumps to her feet, takes her sword back, and points it
at the lying Amazon warrior, who holds up her hands in
surrender.
The training is over. Diana and her fellow warrior exchange
smiles, then helps her to get up.
The audience CHEERS. Hippolyta and Antiope smile, proud of
Diana.

CLOSE ON: LYLA, while she claps for her friend, a sudden pain
in her head makes her SCREAM.
Everyone turns to Lyla as she falls to her knees, grabbing
her head and MOANING in pain. Diana runs up to her friend.
DIANA
Lyla!
Diana crouches beside Lyla while the other Amazons ring them.
No one knows what's happening.
DIANA (CONT'D)
I'm here, Lyla. Don't worry. Don't
worry.
A moment later, Lyla calms down in Diana's arms. The pain is
gone, but she is tired, stunned.
LYLA
I saw it again, Diana... I saw...

Lyla is too weak to continue talking and faints.


HIPPOLYTA
Take Lyla to the infirmary
immediately!
Two Amazons lift Lyla and start to carry her across the
field. The other Amazons in training stop their activities
when they see what.

EXT. TEMPLE OF HEALING - THEMYSCIRA - LATER


Hippolyta walks toward a small building with a CADEUCIS
carved over the lintel -- two snakes twined over a staff,
the ancient symbol of HEALING.

INT. TEMPLE OF HEALING - THEMYSCIRA - DAY


After a few hours, Lyla sleeps peacefully in bed. Diana is
standing in the room, eyeing her.
Hippolyta walks in and joins Diana.
HIPPOLYTA
How is she?
DIANA
She'll be fine, just need some
rest.

HIPPOLYTA
Good. I'll tell the others.
As Hippolyta turns to leave:
DIANA
Mother, it was her visions again.
They are getting more frequent and
more intense in recent months.

HIPPOLYTA
What does she see?
DIANA
The last time Lyla told me she saw
only destruction. The damnation of
the world of men.
HIPPOLYTA
We can't worry about it, Diana, not
all of Lyla's visions come true.
You know that.
DIANA
Yes, but...
HIPPOLYTA
When she wakes up, escort her back
to her bedchamber.
DIANA
As you wish, mother.
Hippolyta walks off. Diana returns to watch her friend.

EXT. CADMENDOH - SPACE


A planet the color of rust. There are no green or oceans, it
seems to be something without life, revolving around two
overlapping suns.
SUPER: "CADMENDOH, SECTOR 674"

EXT. MARKETPLACE - CADMENDOH - DAY

Cadmendoh market is a steamy, slum nightmare. A labyrinth of


narrow alleys and fetid vapor.
Vendor stalls pack that place, all interconnected. Muddy
water trickles down from above, forming cloudy puddles.
A variety of ALIEN RACES roam the streets, some selling their
products, others buying. Strange languages are spoken at the
same time.

A dogfight of sorts is taking place in a small ring. Instead


of pitbulls, multi-limbed creatures leap at one another while
violent bettors laugh and shout.
PULL BACK, RISING, THROUGH A WINDOW INTO:

INT. HOTEL SUITE - CADMENDOH - DAY


Where a man in a green and black suit eyes all that below,
quietly. This is GREEN LANTERN (HAL JORDAN).

His expression can't be other than disgust. Green Lantern


then speaks to his emerald RING.
GREEN LANTERN
(into ring)
Kilowog, report.
Kilowog's voice SOUNDS over the ring.

KILOWOG (V.O.)
What you want to know? It's just a
sea of shit down here.
Green Lantern just sighs.

EXT. MARKETPLACE - CADMENDOH - DAY


In the midst of that crowd is KILOWOG, a gargantuan rhino-
creature and a member of the Green Lantern Corps.

He's disguised under a cloak while speaking with Hal through


his ring as well.
KILOWOG
It's good that your source is right
about this place, Jordan, otherwise
I'll gladly break some of his
teeth.

INTERCUT: GREEN LANTERN/KILOWOG


GREEN LANTERN
If Kanjar Ro was seen here
recently, we should consider.
Cadmendoh is the perfect place for
any outlaw.
KILOWOG
Oh, I know far better places than
this dump. Kind of like my toilet,
for example.
Green Lantern cracks a smile.
GREEN LANTERN
I don't know what you're talking
about. You yourself said that you
wanted to stay on the field to be
the first to catch Ro.

KILOWOG
I changed my mind. He's probably
going to die with some infection
here.
GREEN LANTERN
Anyway we'll have to take his body
to the station. Stay sharp.
END INTERCUT.

KILOWOG
Yeah, of course.
The connection is cut. Kilowog shakes his head, hating every
second he stays there.
An INSECT rests on Kilowog's arm. With the other hand, he
smacks the insect and eats it as if it were an appetizer.

INT. HOTEL SUITE - CADMENDOH - DAY


Meanwhile, Green Lantern continues his vigilance like a hawk
looking for its prey. Always attentive to everything.

TIME CUT:
A few time later, Green Lantern still stands at the window,
looking for any sign of his target. He seems to be almost
giving up.
At that moment, something out there catches his attention.
Hal Leans Closer to the Window.
GREEN LANTERN'S POV: A SUSPICIOUS MAN paces hastily in the
market, pushing through people. The figure wears a gray
cloak, making it difficult to see his face entirely.
GREEN LANTERN
Ring: complete structural analysis.
Green Lantern aims his ring at the suspect. It starts to
BLINK quickly.
RING
Scanning.

One minute later, the Ring stops blinking. Then it projects a


display of the suspect.
RING (CONT'D)
Analysis completed. Approximate
level of suspect facial
recognition: 87%.
GREEN LANTERN
(into ring)
Kilowog, do you read me?

EXT. MARKETPLACE - CADMENDOH - DAY

Kilowog stands in the mouth of an alley watching all around


when Hal SOUNDS over his Ring.
KILOWOG
Did you find anything?
GREEN LANTERN (V.O.)
Old gray cloak, going east. And he
looks pretty rushed.
KILOWOG
I'm on it.

Kilowog starts to move, mingling in the crowd. Thanks to his


high height, he can have a good view.
He walks looking for someone with the description that Hal
has told him, but the market is very crowded.
KILOWOG (CONT'D)
Damnit.
Suddenly, he hears hysterical shouts coming from somewhere.
Kilowog turns to the sound source...
... where a street vendor quarrels angrily with a man wearing
a gray cloak, who seems to have bumped into the vendor.
Kilowog stops, trying to recognize the man's face.
The suspect looks at his surroundings, eventually his eyes
match with Kilowog's. And he realizes: it's KANJAR RO.
Kanjar Ro turns around and starts RUNNING. Kilowog removes
his cloak and goes after him.
KILOWOG (CONT'D)
(into ring)
Jordan, it's him!

meters behind him.
As a GREEN AURA wraps around his body, Green Lantern TAKES
OFF through the window like a missile.

EXT. MARKETPLACE - CADMENDOH - DAY


Back to the CHASE. Kanjar Ro RACES headlong through the tight
streets, WEAVING through or KNOCKING into the locals.
Not far behind him, Kilowog keeps pace. But with his bulk,
it's hard to get around faster.
KILOWOG
Move away! Move away!
But the street becomes a mess in all that commotion. Kilowog
knows he will never be able to reach Kanjar Ro like this.
KILOWOG (CONT'D)
All right then.

Kilowog projects from his ring A COUPLE OF LONG STEEL CABLES


made of SOLID GREEN ENERGY that stretch through all that
crowd and SPREAD to opposite sides...
... pushing the people and opening a clean aisle between
Kilowog and Kanjar Ro.
KILOWOG (CONT'D)
(shouts)
Kanjar Ro!
Kanjar Ro halts.
Green Lantern hovers in mid-air, aiming his glowing ring at
Kanjar Ro as Kilowog walks toward him.

Kanjar Ro turns to Kilowog. We see his face more clearly this


time. There is something wrong -- he seems to be having some
disturbance in his mind.
KILOWOG (CONT'D)
I should have arrested you just for
choosing to come to this damn
place. Now you'll chill out and
come with us.
Ro pulls something discreetly from his back without Kilowog
realizing yet. But up there, Hal notices there's an OBJECT in
his hand.
GREEN LANTERN
Kilowog, look out!
KILOWOG
What?
Kanjar Ro draws a HIGH-TECH ALIEN WEAPON and FIRES AN ENERGY
BLAST at Kilowog, sending him FLYING across the market and
CRASHING into one the stalls.
The next target is Hal. Kanjar Ro FIRES again, but Green
Lantern projects a FORCE FIELD that BLOCKS the round.
Kanjar Ro starts to run again. Green Lantern turns to his
fallen friend, who rises a bit dizzy. He's okay. Green
Lantern flies after Ro.
Green Lantern creates a TOWERING WALL in the way of Kanjar
Ro, preventing his escape. Lantern lands.
GREEN LANTERN
This time we'll lock you in a cell
where you will not escape so soon.

Kanjar Ro fires an energy blast JUST AS Green Lantern


projects a MEDIEVAL SHIELD around himself. But the blast
BOUNCES OFF the shield and HITS the top of a building,
crumbling DEBRIS toward some locals.
Without thinking twice, Green Lantern creates a green BUBBLE
around those people, protecting them as the debris fall
without making contact with them.
Kanjar Ro seizes this moment to shoot again while the hero is
busy. When it looks like Hal will be hit...
... A GREEN BARRIER defends Hal from the shot. It's Kilowog.
He ROCKETS past above Hal and rams Kanjar Ro in mid-flight,
HURTLING THROUGH THE ENERGY WALL created by Hal with him.
The wall SHATTERS like glass as Kilowog and Kanjar Ro roll
over the ground.
Both of them get up at same time. Kilowog materializes a WAR
HAMMER in his hand and starts to FIGHT Kanjar Ro, who wields
his weapon like a stick.
Moments later, Green Lantern joins the fight with a green
energy MACE, teaming up with Kilowog against the villain.
GREEN SPARKS fly everywhere with the friction. Kanjar Ro is
having his ass kicked by the two Green Lanterns. Maybe he can
handle one, but not two at the same time.
In a desperate measure, Kanjar Ro fires a blast on the ground
causing a big EXPLOSION that knocks the three men away, and
lifts a cloud of smoke in the middle of the market.

ANGLE ON: GREEN LANTERN, within the smoke, struggling to get


to his feet. He spots Kanjar Ro a few meters ahead.
Green Lantern's energy mace MORPHS into a GATLING GUN -- and
he FIRES A HAIL OF ENERGY BULLETS AT KANJAR RO before he can
react, LAUNCHING him into a stall.
Green Lantern takes off toward Kanjar Ro, who lies sprawled
on the ruins of the stall.
As soon as the hero comes very close to him, Kanjar Ro
WALLOPS Hal ASIDE with his alien weapon.
Green Lantern goes CRASHING into a building, vanishing from
our view deep inside the construction.
With difficulty, Kanjar Ro gets up and rushes off, limping
through an alley.

A moment later, Kilowog appears. He sees that hole in the


building.
KILOWOG
Jordan, are you still alive?
He waits. Then a GREEN LIGHT flares from inside the building,
expelling all the rocks and debris as Green Lantern emerges
from there.

GREEN LANTERN
Maybe more angry than alive. Lets
just get that bastard.

EXT. DECAYING WAREHOUSE - CADMENDOH - DAY


With difficulty, Kanjar Ro heads toward an old, abandoned
warehouse. He glances back to make sure he was not followed.
No sign of the Green Lanterns. Then he enters.
But on top of a building across the street...
... Kilowog and Hal Jordan watched Kanjar Ro without him
noticing them.

INT. DECAYING WAREHOUSE - CADMENDOH - DAY


Inside, it's where Kanjar Ro used as a hiding place. He
starts packing his stuff to get away from there.

BUT SUDDENLY --
-- GREEN LANTERN BLASTS THROUGH THE CEILING, landing in front
of Kanjar Ro.
The outlaw makes a grab for his weapon attached to the belt,
but Kilowog wraps his hands from behind -- with energy
HANDCUFFS -- before Ro can reach the weapon.
Hal creates a kind of BRASS KNUCKLES with the power of his
ring and SWIPES Kanjar Ro across his face, knocking him out.
TIME CUT:
Moments later, Kanjar Ro is awake and trapped by a chain
created by Kilowog's ring.
Although he has lost, Ro tries every moment to free himself
from the chains, writhing and shaking himself, but in vain.
Meanwhile, Hal talks to a GREEN HOLOGRAM of TOMAR-RE -- a
prissy fin-headed fishman -- via RING.

TOMAR-RE
(hologram)
Was it too troublesome for you
guys?
GREEN LANTERN
Some mild bruising, nothing to
worry about.

TOMAR-RE
(hologram)
There's a special cell waiting for
him here.
GREEN LANTERN
We will not be long.
The hologram shuts off. Kanjar Ro still tries to break free,
grunting non-stop.
KILOWOG
Com'on, dude, it's over for you.
KANJAR RO
You do not understand -- I heard
him say I would be called -- that I
would be essential. He needs me! He
needs me!

Kilowog frowns, confused. Green Lantern approaches.


GREEN LANTERN
Who the hell are you talking about?
Kanjar Ro keeps talking to himself, like a lunatic coming
from some hospice.
KANJAR RO
I must continue -- my definitive
journey, he claims for me and I
must serve him...
KILOWOG
I think you hit him too hard,
Jordan.
Something beyond the camera draws Hal's attention. He walks
toward a wall. Kilowog just watches him.
KILOWOG (CONT'D)
Jordan?
With his ring, Hal makes a BEAM OF LIGHT like a lamp,
illuminating that wall and revealing --

Kilowog joins Hal and stares at the image on the wall.

(to Kanjar Ro)
Hey, you who designed this thing?
What is it?
But Kanjar Ro seems to be out of reality, talking to the void
without any sense.
KANJAR RO
I must continue... I must serve...
KILOWOG
(to Hal)
Do you think he's faking it?
GREEN LANTERN
It's a possibility, although he
sounds very convincing to me. Let's
get him back.
KILOWOG
I'll take care of him, you have to
go back to your sector.
GREEN LANTERN
All right. Keep me informed.

EXT. PENTAGON - WASHINGTON D.C. - DAY


Establishing.

INT. HALLWAY - PENTAGON - DAY


TRACKING with a WOMAN striding down the hallway. This is
AMANDA WALLER. Tough, imposing.

WALLER (PRE-LAP)
Yesterday, our biggest concern was
governments that could send a
nuclear warhead to the heart of any
place at any time by pushing a
single button.

INT. SITUATION ROOM - PENTAGON - DAY


Waller sits at the table along with some important figures:
NSA and CIA directors; some HIGH-RANKING OFFICERS -- one of
them is GENERAL EILING.
WALLER
Now we have people with that level
of power walking the streets of our
own country. Among the people we
must protect. Measures need to be
taken before it is too late.
EILING
The people of Metropolis seem to
love their flying blue man.

WALLER
For now. Maybe Luthor is right.
Maybe he's trying to earn our
confidence to strike first.
OFFICIAL #1
But with that power, I think he
would already have--
WALLER
(interrupting)
Any step we take will be risky,
since we do not know what they are
capable of. That is why the Project
Cadmus is now a priority.
The others in the room exchange confused looks.
OFFICIAL #2
I thought Cadmus was vetoed by the
president two years ago.
WALLER
That was the official intel. Now,
with the world on the brink of
collapse, the project can not be
ignored.

General Eiling, what about the Sea
Man?
EILING
Our battleships were positioned. At
any sign of him, we'll be ready
this time.
OFFICIAL #1
Secretary Waller, that way we can
start an unprecedented war.
WALLER
War is inevitable. But I want to
have the bullet in the barrel when
it arrives.

EXT. UN BUILDING - DAY


A hectic MASS of people swarm the perimeter of the building
as police officers try to keep them behind the protective
barrier.
SUPER: "NEW YORK CITY"
However there are not only civilians there, but also
REPORTERS and CAMERAMEN from all over the world. They seem to
be expecting something... or someone.
Moments later, a MAN in the crowd sees something in the sky
and gets excited.
MAN
(points up)
Look! Up in the sky!
ABOVE THEM ALL --
-- SUPERMAN hovers in the air like a divine figure. His red
cape gently billows with the wind.

Even the police officers GAPE at him.


Superman lands and walks toward the building as the people
CRY and SCREAM for his name.
CAMERAMAN'S CAMERA POV: A REPORTER speaks into the camera as
we see Superman heading for the building while he waves shyly
at people.

REPORTER
After months of their meeting
request, the protector of
Metropolis so far has arrived in
the United Nations building to
discuss this wave of metahumans and
vigilantes scattered around the
world.

INT. GENERAL ASSEMBLY HALL - UN BUILDING - DAY


Different leaders of nations and other representatives fill
the great hall. Lois Lane sits in the area reserved for the
press.
Superman stands in the center of the hall, facing the UN
LEADERS in front of him.

SUPERMAN
Honored delegates, thank you for
allowing me to join this session.
It means a lot to me.
One of the UN Leaders reads something at the table.
UN LEADER #1
In your interview for the Daily
Planet, you said you came from
another distant world. Am I right?
SUPERMAN
Yes, sir.
UN LEADER #1
What are the risks we run on this?
Do you still have contact with your
people? Are they peaceful beings?

SUPERMAN
My planet exploded years ago, when
I was still a baby. I'm the only
survivor. The only one of my kind
nowadays.
UN LEADER #2
These masked vigilantes appeared
after your public appearance,
coincidentally or not. Do you feel
responsible for them somehow?
SUPERMAN
I believe they want to do good, but
in their way.
(MORE)

SUPERMAN (CONT'D)
The people fear what they do not
understand or have no control over,
so the fear will continue. But I
have hope that they will accept
these super-beings as their
protectors.
UN LEADER #1
This may end up opening many
precedents, Superman. What if these
vigilantes think they are above the
law? Who will be able to stop a man
capable of raising a car with one
hand?
SUPERMAN
I understand that the social
balance we hold is a delicate one.
Freedom and order are ideals that
are often in opposition. While
trying to maintain one, the other
may suffer.
(beat)
Unfortunately, I don't know all the
metahumans, but what I can say,
from what I have seen over the
course of these months, is that
it's men and women using their
gifts to devote to the betterment
of the world.
UN LEADER #2
Are you telling us to just accept
that everything is okay?
SUPERMAN
What I'm asking is that they give
us a chance to try. A chance to be
worthy of your trust.
UN LEADER #1
I confess that your optimism is
enviable, boy, but I do not think
part of the population sees it in
the same way.
SUPERMAN
I may not be from Earth, but I've
grown my whole life here. My
parents taught me to love this
world as if I were a part of it, my
home, and I will do everything to
protect it.

I think those masked people risking
their lives are doing the same
thing.

INT. HALLWAY - UN BUILDING - DAY


After the session ends, Superman walks down the corridor. In
the end, a crowd of reporters clamoring for an interview.
That's when Lois reaches him.
LOIS
Beautiful words back there,
congratulations.
SUPERMAN
Thanks, but I do not know if I
could be very convincing.
LOIS
I think it was enough to make them
think a little before bed. But to
be honest? They will fear the
uniformed vigilantes even though
they do the right thing.
SUPERMAN
Does not have to be this way
forever. I just wanted to know if
I'm going the right way.
LOIS
Your only mask is the one you use
to be one of us. They will only
listen to someone with a face. So
yeah, I think you're on the right
road.
They stop and face each other.

Superman nods to her and keeps moving as Lois watches him go
to that group of reporters.

EXT. BEACH OF THEMYSCIRA - DAY

A beautiful WHITE SAND BEACH, opening onto crystal blue


water. The breeze is gentle. Waves break on the glittering
shore.
But tranquility is broken by swords CLANGING.
It's Diana and Lyla TRAINING.
Diana is more experienced, she strikes with caution. Lyla
works hard to defend herself.
Lyla then takes some distance to catch her breath.
LYLA
You do not have to hold on to me,
Diana.
DIANA
I don't want to push you so hard,
Lyla. I should not even have
accepted to train with you so soon
after what happened.
LYLA
I'm not going to lie in bed just
doing nothing -- being useless.
Lyla attacks! But Diana keeps up easily.
DIANA
My mother believes that your
visions may not be true.
LYLA
Unfortunately I can not even say
that. Though I feel real.
Now Diana begins to retaliate, making Lyla back off as she
blocks the blows.
Lyla looses her footing, falling to the sand. Diana stops.

DIANA
I think we'd better take a break.
LYLA
(rising)
No -- I can take it.
DIANA
Whether you want it or not, we have
to replenish our energies.
Lyla stands in a fighting pose, ready to fight.
LYLA
Just one more round.
Even though she does not like the idea, Diana takes on a
fighting pose as well. As Lyla prepares to deliver the first
strike...
... she suddenly TUMBLES, moaning in pain as we saw before.
Diana hurries up to her friend.
DIANA
Lyla!
Lyla grabs her head with eyes closed tight as Diana crouches
beside her trying to help.

DIANA (CONT'D)
Stay with me, Lyla -- hear my
voice!
Then Lyla's eyes SNAP OPEN -- CLOUDY -- taking us to...
A CHAOTIC FLASH OF COLLIDING IMAGES. WE SEE:
The world sunk in destruction and chaos; cries of despair and
pain; a FIREBALL blazing through the skies; countless
SILHOUETTES of figures with one RED GLOWING EYE in the middle
of the face, standing in formation; and finally, a huge,
frightening ALIEN EYE.
BACK TO -- LYLA, as her pupils back to normal. A bit of BLOOD
drips from her nose. She stares at Diana with teary eyes.
LYLA
I can feel... death is resurfacing.
Fire will fall from the heavens --
millions will march in a single
step with red eyes...
Lyla speaks as if delirious. Diana takes her in her arms and
moves away as quickly as possible.

EXT. PALACE COURTYARD - THEMYSCIRA - DAY


Diana and Hippolyta walk across the large courtyard of the
royal palace as they talk about Lyla.

DIANA
I'm telling you, mother, we can no
longer ignore these visions. Lyla
saw a world sunk in chaos and
despair.
HIPPOLYTA
We talked about this, Diana.
DIANA
No, you tried every time did not
talk about it, always avoiding the
subject. What really holds you
back? Why turn away from something
like that?
Hippolyta takes a deep breath and looks into Diana's eyes.
HIPPOLYTA
Very well, you really want to know
why I'm not worried about the
visions? It's because the outside
world is not the responsibility of
the Amazons.
Diana is taken aback.
DIANA
What do you mean?
HIPPOLYTA
The gods have blessed us with this
island where no one is able to find
it. Our duty is with it, only.
DIANA

War against Ares and his army ages
ago. You and the Amazons protected
this world!
HIPPOLYTA
Yes, we did it. But it was when we
realized how the world of men
really was. They have been doomed

innocent people out there who do
not deserve this.
HIPPOLYTA
How do you know? You've never been
out there, Diana. I have. And I can
say that this world has had its
chance, but they've wasted it.
DIANA
If the world of men will suffer,
Themyscira will also. It's only a
matter of time.
HIPPOLYTA
And we'll be ready for it when the
time comes.
That strikes Diana in the heart. Hippolyta walks out, leaving
an indignant Diana behind.

EXT. ARMORY - THEMYSCIRA - NIGHT


In that moonlight night, the armory stands monolithic amongst
the other buildings of Themyscira.
Diana surveys from an opposing hillside. The building's face
an impenetrable mountainside, accessible by only one main
entrance, monitored by several GUARDS who stand watch.
Studying the building further, Diana spots a SINGLE WINDOW in
the high tower.
Diana’s face darkens with fixed focus. She LEAPS into the
air, SOARING through the night...
... arriving to the window without being noticed by the
guards below.

INT. ARMORY - THEMYSCIRA - NIGHT

In the moonlit darkness of the deserted armory, Diana DROPS


onto the ground quietly. She walks up to the ANCIENT WONDER
WOMAN ARMOR -- resting on an altar.
Burnished golden EAGLE breastplate matching with a TIARA. The
leather beneath the gold is dyed a rich, crimson RED. Lying
next to the armor, THE LASSO OF TRUTH.
Diana's eyes widen with delight and determination.

EXT. BEACH OF THEMYSCIRA - NIGHT


Alone, Diana stops at the edge of the sea wearing dark robes
-- giving us just a hint of the warrior's garb beneath it.
She looks at the starry sky, thinking about what she's about
to do.
A beat.
HIPPOLYTA (O.S.)
Don't.
Diana turns around to Hippolyta standing behind her.
HIPPOLYTA (CONT'D)
This is a mistake, Diana.
DIANA
All my life, you taught me to be
strong and never give up. I will
not stay here idly waiting for the
war to come to us. I'm sorry but I
can't.
(beat)
If you want to stop me, the time is
now.
Mother and daughter face off in a tense silence. Diana is
ready to fight if need be, but Hippolyta does not have the
same courage. And Diana notes that.
Diana turns her back on her mother.
HIPPOLYTA
(with fury)
Diana! If you leave this island you
may never return. You will be
banished from me... and from
everyone.
For a moment, Diana HESITATES as Hippolyta's words sink in.
But the decision has already been made.
Then, Diana closes her eyes and TAKES OFF into the heavens.
Hippolyta watches her disappear into the night with tears
streaming down her cheeks.
HIPPOLYTA (CONT'D)
(quietly)
You have been my greatest love.

EXT. GOTHAM CITY - NIGHT


Establishing.

INT. GORDON'S CAR - NIGHT


Gordon drives through the grim, dirty streets of the city.
Bullock's in the passenger seat, looking out the window in
disgust.
BULLOCK
How can anyone endure to live in
this such place?
GORDON
Well, we are here now.

BULLOCK
Is it serious that you never
thought to get out of this hell?
GORDON
Every day. But you would not
survive without me.
BULLOCK
Do not be so optimistic. Only the
mad ones, like everyone else in
this city, want to stay here. And
I'm including us.
GORDON
Somehow, I can still see a little
hope in the streets. A small light
at the end of the tunnel.
Bullock shoots Gordon a look.

GORDON (CONT'D)
What?
BULLOCK
You just confirmed my theory about
madness.

EXT. CHURCH - NIGHT


Gordon's car pulls up at the front of an ancient gothic
church. Both officers step out the vehicle and approach the
entrance door.

BULLOCK
Seems to be abandoned.
GORDON
We have to make sure. Go through
the back.
Bullock draws his REVOLVER and goes to the back of the
church. Gordon looks at chain and padlock locking the front
door.
Gordon walks back to his car, opens the trunk and returns to
the church door holding a WHEEL WRENCH. He sticks it to the
chain and TWISTS it with all his might.

After some effort, he SNAPS the chain and enters the church.

INT. CHURCH - NIGHT


A dozen of cultist ZEALOTS are assembled in a semicircle. All
wearing the same red garment.
Only candles lit the place. Banners around adorn the reunion,
with a symbol printed on the fabric -- the same as the
medallion we saw earlier.
The ZEALOT LEADER reads a huge BOOK before a TEN-YEAR-OLD BOY
tied up hanging on the wall, his mouth gagged. The other
members of the sect pray in an unknown language.
After finishing reading, the Zealot Leader closes the book,
which has a LOCK on the cover, and approaches the boy.
ZEALOT LEADER
I know it sounds scary, but I ask
you to not be afraid. All this is
for a greater cause.
Tears stream down the boy's face.
ZEALOT LEADER (CONT'D)
It is with your spirit that we
delivered purgatory to come, and
unfortunately, no sacrifices, no
achievements.
One of the zealots steps closer the leader with both arms
stretched, supporting an OBJECT covered in a red cloth.
ZEALOT LEADER (CONT'D)
I will be as fast as possible.

The Zealot Leader grabs the object under the cloth, revealing
a DAGGER. Seeing it, the boy SHAKES nervously, trying to
escape.
ZEALOT LEADER (CONT'D)
Do not resist, you'll just make
things worse.
The Leader holds the dagger as something sacred. And
ritualistically, he raises the blade above his head.
ON GORDON

Hidden behind a pillar, sighting the fanatics a little


distant. He knows he needs to act quickly.
But before, he takes his RADIO and speaks:
GORDON
This is commissioner Gordon
soliciting support at the old
church in West Side. Now.
As soon as Gordon takes his next step, he HALTS as if he
feels something around.
ON THE ZEALOTS
The Leader closes his eyes, the tip of the dagger is pointed
at the boy. When it looks like he’ll kill the child...
... A GRAPPLING HOOK shoots out from up and WRAPS around the
Zealot Leader’s ankle.

BEAT as everyone stares at that, confused.


Before anyone had any reaction, the cable starts to HOIST the
Zealot Leader to the ceiling -- consequently, he drops the
dagger and his MEDALLION.
The others just watch their leader being taken.
As the Zealot Leader disappears into the darkness of the
ceiling, a BLACK FIGURE with BAT WINGS falls toward the
zealots gang.
ON GORDON
Who observes that SHADOWY FIGURE landing among the zealots.
John stares, impressed.
And in the next second, we began to hear the sound of the
STRUGGLING -- punches, kicks, heavy blows.
40.

TWO ZEALOTS are knocked away.


With the gun in hands, Gordon rushes toward the commotion to
help whoever is there. But before he gets to the fight...
... BOOM! A SMOKE BOMB EXPLODES in the middle of the
fanatics, covering everyone around in a cloud of smoke.
ON THE ZEALOTS

Within the smoke. Most zealots are stunned by smoke, fighting


at random while the black figure acts like a veteran.
The mysterious fighter is too quick to see him clearly. He is
a black blur moving from one side to the other.
Every hit from him makes the target spit blood out, or even
teeth. Gradually, the number of standing enemies decreases.
Two more zealots advance toward the shadow by the flanks,
surrounding it. But the mysterious fighter realizes them in
time.
SLOW-MO -- as the black figure JUMPS striking SIMULTANEOUS
KICKS in each zealot at same time. The movement disperses the
smoke revealing: THE BATMAN.
Full shape. Black and gray. Eyes white.
BACK TO NORMAL SPEED as Batman touches down, fighting the
rest of the men.

CLOSE ON: A ZEALOT, lying on the ground. He spots the dagger


near him and grasps it. Then he stands up, approaching Batman
from behind without him realizing.
When it looks like he'll stab The Dark Knight's back --
-- Gordon TACKLES him roughly to the ground.
The zealot tries to cut Gordon, but the Commissioner GRIPS
the enemy's wrist tight enough to make him let go of the
dagger.
Gordon starts to PUMMEL the zealot's face with his fist until
he faints.

knocks out the last of the fanatics.

You always knew how to show up at
the last second. How did you find
out about this place?
Batman scans the area while talking to Gordon.

BATMAN
I have my own sources.
GORDON
Of course.
Gordon goes to the boy and starts untying him from the ropes.
The poor kid is in SHOCK.
GORDON (CONT'D)
(gently)
Easy -- everything is gonna be fine
now.
As he walks among the fallen zealots, Batman approaches the
strange book on the pedestal, studying it with his eyes.
Batman slides his finger over the empty space on the cover of
the book, thinking. Then he looks at the medallion of the
Zealot Leader on the floor -- and realization hits him.
ANGLE ON: GORDON, as he picks up the boy in the arms, who
embraces him tightly.
GORDON (CONT'D)
It's okay. It's okay.
(to Batman)
You know, I think--
He turns to Batman, but he's GONE -- with the book and the
Zealot Leader's medallion.
That's when Bullock appears, gun drawn. As he notices all the
zealots down, he lowers his weapon.
BULLOCK
Sorry the late. I did not know they
had put the chain in the back. Good
job, by the way.
GORDON
It wasn't me.
BULLOCK
Wait -- you're not talking about
the Bat, are not you?

Gordon just gives Bullock a look.


BULLOCK (CONT'D)
Dammit.
Bullock holsters his revolver, angry. Incoming police SIRENS
sound outside.

INT. BATCAVE - NIGHT


Deep underground the Wayne Manor.
It's a cavernous space, illuminated by a series of lights on
the rock ceiling. BATS SCREECH past overhead.

There are FLOORS of open-air rooms, filled by HIGH-TECH


GADGETS, WEAPONRY, and others like laboratories and
workshops. All joined by crisscrossing STAIRWAYS.
On a platform stands the BATMOBILE -- an ominous armored
monster on four wheels.
AT THE COMMAND LEVEL...
... is where BRUCE WAYNE stands at a metal table. He’s still
wearing the Batman suit, but no cowl.
On the table is the book of the fanatics and the medallion of
their leader.
He takes the medallion and places it in the circular cavity
of the book cover -- fitting perfectly. Wayne turns the
medallion and UNLOCKS the book.
That's when another figure joins him. It's ALFRED. The
faithful butler of the Wayne family. He holds some BATARANGS.
ALFRED
The new batarangs are ready, master
Bruce. I would like to point out
the care in handling them as they
are very sharp.
Bruce does not give a word, he's focused on the book,
flipping its pages. Alfred puts the batarangs on another
table and approaches Bruce.
WAYNE
This book belonged to one of the
cultist fanatics who are
sacrificing around the city. From
what I saw, they treated it as
sacred.

Alfred takes a quick look. There are some psychedelic


drawings and loose sentences that are meaningless on almost
every page.
ALFRED
Any idea who made the book?
WAYNE
Not yet. First I want to have all
the pages scanned for a deeper
analysis.
ALFRED
I'll take care of it, you have a
meeting scheduled tomorrow morning.
WAYNE
Postpone it.
ALFRED
You already did it. Three times,
sir.
Wayne gives Alfred a look.
ALFRED (CONT'D)
Go be Bruce Wayne for a while, I
guarantee you'll stay alive.
WAYNE
Okay, Alfred, you won. But I want
to be up to date on everything.
ALFRED
Of course.

EXT. SKY - DAY


The lull of the gorgeous crisp blue sky. A sea of clouds
stretches as far as the eyes can see.
SUDDENLY --
-- AN F-35 FIGHTER JET goes SCREAMING through the frame,
feeling like it's TEARING the fabric of the sky.

INT. F-35 COCKPIT - DAY


The pilot is Hal Jordan. He maneuvers that machine with
mastery, always at ease.
A FEMALE VOICE sounds over his radio.

HAL
A cakewalk. Cakewalk.

INT. CONTROL TOWER - FERRIS AIRCRAFT - DAY

A wide 360 degree view of the sky. TECHNICIANS monitoring


their screens. Among them is CAROL FERRIS -- talking with Hal
through her headset.
CAROL
I hope you're serious, because that
is what I like to hear.
HAL (V.O.)
The little bird is doing well,
believe me. One day I'll still take
you on a tour of these.
CAROL
I've been flying since I was
thirteen, Highball. You'll need to
think a lot about how to impress
me.
HAL (V.O.)
I love challenges. I bet you've
never flown high enough to touch a
star.
CAROL
That's right. But first, I want you
to put down my two hundred million
safely.
HAL (V.O.)
Roger that.

INT. LOCKER ROOM - FERRIS AIRCRAFT - DAY


Hal is alone changing his pilot suit when his power ring
BEEPS. He checks if there's nobody around first.
From the ring, a HOLOGRAM of Kilowog materializes.
HAL
So, good news?

(hologram)
I would love to say yes, but Kanjar
Ro has not cooperated during the
interrogation.
HAL
How so?
KILOWOG
(hologram)
He's totally nuts. He keeps talking
about voices in his head all the
time and practically ignores anyone
near him.
HAL
Have you ever tried to do a
complete neural readout with him?
KILOWOG
(hologram)
Yeah, and that's the interesting
part. Our scanners detected his
synapses as a real mess, as if
someone had brainwashed him.
HAL
Okay, it's a start. What about the
drawings on the wall?
KILOWOG
(hologram)
Nothing yet. I'm going to meet the
Guardians now to try to find out
something.
HAL
All right. If you need anything,
you know you can count on me.
Kilowog nods and his hologram winks out.
CUT TO:
A BROADCAST. The journalist SNAPPER CARR reports to the
camera.

Here is Snapper Carr directly from
Happy harbor bringing the breaking

distress call coming from the oil
station near our coast. The worker
who sent the request says that the
Sea Man is the author of the
attack.

EXT. ATLANTIC OCEAN - DAY


A U.S. BATTLESHIP cruising the waters. In the main deck,
SOLDIERS getting ready for an incoming battle.

INT. BRIDGE - BATTLESHIP - DAY


BINOCULARS POV: in the distance -- an OIL RIG.
REVEAL: General Eiling as he hands the binoculars to the
ADMIRAL of the ship.
EILING
Tell them to prepare.

EXT. PLATFORM - OIL RIG - DAY

ANGLE ON: 300 OIL RIG WORKERS, all held prisoners kneeling
and hanging head.
VOICE (O.S.)
The oceans are 3/4 from around the
world, and you use it as if it were
a simple backyard for your actions.
But this is over. I command it to
end.
We just hear the heavy FOOTSTEPS of the owner of the speech.
Some workers tremble in fear at his presence.
VOICE (O.S.) (CONT'D)
My Kingdom suffers from your
decisions, and as a duty of a king,
I must protect it...
This man is AQUAMAN. Handling his GOLDEN TRIDENT, now
pointing it to the workers.

AQUAMAN
... whatever the cost.
SUPERMAN (O.S.)
I'm sorry but I'll have to
disagree.

That voice makes Aquaman turn to Superman, who lands on the


platform.

AQUAMAN
Superman, the dweller of skies.
Since your military can not stop
me, they sent their greatest
champion?
SUPERMAN
I have not come to fight, just want
to talk.
AQUAMAN
Talk? About how men act like pigs?
SUPERMAN
I know you do not want to hurt
these people. There were no
casualties in your attacks, but
this needs to stop.
AQUAMAN
Give me a good reason.
SUPERMAN
Because if it’s not my way, it will
be theirs.
Superman points to something on the water. Aquaman spots that
battleship coming for the oil rig.
AQUAMAN
They can try. I will protect my
people as you protect yours. And
these machines...
(re: the oil rig)
... pollute the sea. My people.
Must crumble.
SUPERMAN
People like us must have a
responsibility with our own
abilities. People are afraid --
afraid of us when the feeling
should be the opposite.
AQUAMAN
I'm not a simple vigilante that
hang out there after bad guys. My
father taught me the value of life,
but when I became who should be, I
learned the value of a king.

SUPERMAN
You know I can not afford you to
continue this madness. Sooner or
later, will come out of your
control.
AQUAMAN
I am able to risk.
Aquaman grips his trident as Superman clenches his fists. The
Man of Steel realizes that he has no choice.
The tension increases, the combat between the two super-
beings can begin at any second.
But AT THAT MOMENT --
-- Superman HEARS something with his SUPER-HEARING. Whatever
it is, took his focus away from Aquaman.
Aquaman CHARGES at Superman, trident up. But Superman PUSHES
the King of Atlantis back and JUMPS INTO THE AIR shielding
himself as --
-- BOOM! SUPERMAN IS HIT FULL ON by A CANNON-BLAST, launching
him meters away in the oil rig.
Aquaman climbs to his feet as Superman falls past him,
SMOKING. He runs up to the platform edge and sees the
battleship TAKING AIM at the rig.
AQUAMAN (CONT'D)
(to the workers)
Go to the cargo hold!
They all look at each other, confused. Aquaman slams his
trident on the ground.
AQUAMAN (CONT'D)
Now!
Then everyone RUNS desperate.

INT. BRIDGE - BATTLESHIP - DAY


General Eiling sees Aquaman in the platform's edge, facing
him directly.
EILING
Fire again!

ADMIRAL
General, there are people up there.
Workers.
EILING
I have orders directly from
Secretary Waller to eliminate the
target. It is this order that I
will fulfill.

EXT. PLATFORM - OIL RIG - DAY


The battleship’s cannon rotates, pointing right to Aquaman,
but he’s not intimidated.
As Aquaman LEAPS off the platform, the cannon FIRES at him.
The King of the Seas SLASHES the projectile with his trident,
BLOWING IT UP IN MID-AIR.
A small cloud of black smoke swells up in the air. Aquaman
LUNGES through the smoke --

EXT. DECK - BATTLESHIP - DAY


-- landing in the middle of the armed soldiers. After a short
beat, every soldier aims their rifles at Aquaman.
They OPEN FIRE, but Aquaman EVADES at superhuman SPEED. Using
only his trident and his agility, he knocks down the soldiers
with BRUTAL blows.
The poor men are thrown meters away thanks to the strength of
the king. No one is a match for him.
Aquaman hears weapons from behind.
Three soldiers fire as Aquaman spins, PROPELLING HIS TRIDENT
very fast and REPELLING the bullets off.
Aquaman ADVANCES toward the shooters.
He DISPATCHES the military -- SLICING their weapons and
STABBING them through their legs with his trident.
One of the soldiers drops his empty rifle and pulls his
pistol in a desperate act.
BANG. He fires a single shot into Aquaman’s HEAD, making it
tilts backwards.
The deck falls in silence. The scared soldier steps back.

Then Aquaman brings his head forward, smoking from the shot
spot in his forehead. He locks on the shooter, with fire in
the eyes.
Aquaman raises his trident and HURLS it to kill the soldier.
But in that instant...
... Superman lands between the man and the trident. He
CATCHES Aquaman’s weapon with his bare hands. The impact
makes him skid a few inches back.
SUPERMAN
Enough! No more fighting! You did
not realize what you are doing
here? All you are willing to make a
senseless war risking innocent
lives?!
Silence. Superman tosses the trident back to Aquaman.
SUPERMAN (CONT'D)
It's over.
AQUAMAN
You're still very naive, Superman.
I hope you do not continue with
this blindness for long.
SUPERMAN
I'm trying to open their eyes.
Aquaman turns and jumps off the ship, diving into the water.
A moment later, General Eiling approaches.
EILING
(to Superman)
You! What do you think you're
doing?!
SUPERMAN
Saving lives, unlike you.
EILING
You let that maniac escape! Are you
on his side?
SUPERMAN
I have no sides. You tried to blow
up an entire oil rig with 300
workers there!

EILING
In a war there are always
consequences that we have to deal
with. But you're an alien and you
do not know what that is.
Superman can not believe what he hears, disgusted with the
man in front of him.
SUPERMAN
Excuse me.
Superman pushes through the Eiling to leave, but the General
draws his pistol and aims at the hero.
EILING
If you are not on our side, you are
one of them. I don't care how many
fans you have.
Superman just turns his head and fires his HEAT VISION to
MELT Eiling’s gun. He drops that hot object.
In the next moment, Superman TAKES FLIGHT.

EXT. GOTHAM CITY - DAY


One building stands out among the others: THE WAYNE
ENTERPRISES.

INT. BRUCE'S OFFICE - WAYNE ENTERPRISES - DAY


Bruce Wayne enters talking to someone through his EARPIECE.
WAYNE
Have you finished?
ALFRED (V.O.)
It's a very large book, sir. There
is still much to be done.

INT. BATCAVE - DAY


At the command level, Alfred sits at the CENTRAL CONSOLE of
the cave, working.
In several of those monitors there are SCANNED PAGES from the
zealots' book -- and more to come.

ALFRED
And I'm trying to keep the images
in the best possible quality.
Wayne sounds over the central console.
WAYNE (V.O.)
All right. Send me what you already
got there.
ALFRED
As you wish, master Bruce.

INT. BRUCE'S OFFICE - WAYNE ENTERPRISES - DAY


Bruce sits at his desk and starts using the laptop. It does
not take long until Alfred sends some pages of the mysterious
book to him.
As he begins to read some excerpts on the screen, we see his
look of horror at that. Although we still do not know what is
there, Bruce's expressions tell us everything.
Then -- a KNOCK on the door.
WAYNE
Come in.
Wayne's SECRETARY opens the door.
SECRETARY
Mrs. Wayne? Mr. Palmer is here.
WAYNE
Good. Send him in.
Wayne closes his laptop as a man walks in: RAY PALMER.
RAY
(extends his hand)
Ray Palmer, sir. Much pleasure.
They shake.
WAYNE
Likewise, Mr. Palmer. Please, have
a sit.
Ray sits in the chair.

WAYNE (CONT'D)
When you said you had something
technologically innovative to show
me, I was curious.
RAY
I hope to satisfy this curiosity.

WAYNE
Me either. So... what you have for
me?
RAY
Well, I have some reports of 600
pages each...
Ray hands Bruce a huge FILE BOOK -- most like a bible -- and
Bruce begins to leaf through it.
RAY (CONT'D)
... or I can show you in practice
how this project works.
Off Wayne's grinning face...

INT. APPLIED SCIENCE DIVISION - WAYNE ENTERPRISES - DAY


Ray and Wayne step off the elevator and into that vast space.
WAYNE
Have you done any tests?
RAY
Of course. But unfortunately,
working with this type of
technology, close attention to
detail is needed.
WAYNE
Nothing is easy these days, Ray.
RAY
That's why men like us exist to
make it easier.
They stop at a table where Ray Palmer’s SHRINKING DEVICE
resides. Wayne gazes it curiously.
RAY (CONT'D)
Here it is: the first shrinking
device in the world.

WAYNE
Shrink? I thought that the dilemma
was to create larger and more
powerful things.

RAY
I tried to go against the tide, Mr.
Wayne. With this, we can search for
survivors trapped more easily; make
more accurate surgeries; bring tons
of food to needy countries... save
the world.
Wayne realizes that Ray really believes what he's doing.
WAYNE
Okay, show me what it can do.
Excited, Ray starts to prepare the apparatus, adjusting
various mechanisms of it.
RAY
A major problem was to try to
maintain the stable molecular level
during the reduction process. But I
believe I have solved.
Ready. But before using it, Ray takes from the pocket a
BASEBALL BALL and places it in the device platform. He takes
a deep breath. This has to work.
RAY (CONT'D)
Here we go.
Ray TURNS IT ON. Seconds later, the device bathes the
baseball with a BLUISH LIGHT coming out of its lens. Then the
light goes out.
Wayne and Ray wait for the reaction... but NOTHING happens.
RAY (CONT'D)
It's just a matter of time, I
promise.
The ball begins to VIBRATE strangely. Something is happening.
Ray's eyes fill with hope when in truth...

... the ball POPS, turning into dust. Ray gets completely
speechless.
RAY (CONT'D)
No, no, no, no...

WAYNE
Ray.
RAY
It should not do that. I fixed...
WAYNE
Ray, your project is promising, you
managed to convince me. But needs
to work harder on it. You think you
can fix it with my resources?
Ray stares at Wayne, unbelievable.
RAY
Y-Yes -- I can do it.
WAYNE
Great, it was what I needed to
hear. Now I have to go.
Wayne starts to walk toward the elevator.

WAYNE (CONT'D)
Take the rest of the day off,
professor. You seem very tense.
Lunch is on me.
Palmer stays alone with his device.

EXT. METROPOLIS - VARIOUS - DAY


We take a look upon the wondrous, bustling, city of
Metropolis.
SUPER: "METROPOLIS"
TRAFFIC streams across METROPOLIS BRIDGE, a magnificent
SUSPENSION BRIDGE spanning over the river at MID-CITY.
Sidewalks around CITY HALL are crowded with PEDESTRIANS.

EXT. BUILDING ROOFTOP - DAY


Diana stands at the edge of the building -- still wearing her
robes -- observing that new world before her, FASCINATED.

EXT. METROPOLIS STREETS - DAY


Towering buildings and busy streets fill our view. Diana
wanders on the sidewalk impressed with her surroundings.

People passing by her cannot avoid to look at that exotic


woman in a strange outfit.
Something catches her attention much. An ELECTRONICS STORE
where several TVs are displayed in the showcase -- each
screen a different story.
Diana watches cosmetic advertisements, propaganda, newscasts,
talk shows, etc. For her, all that is incredible and
innovative.

INT. DINER - DAY


Few customers in the establishment. Diana enters and sits at
the counter. Immediately all eyes turn to her. She waits.
Then, the DINER OWNER steps up. He looks Diana from head to
toe. Weird.

DINER OWNER
Have you taken a look at our menu?
DIANA
I would like to taste your best
meal and your best drink.
TIME CUT:
The Diner Owner delivers Diana a plate with a tasty pie and a
glass of juice.
She starts to eat.
With each bite, Diana delights in the taste of food. She
really enjoys it.
DIANA (CONT'D)
Your food is worthy of a feast of
gods. Congratulations.

DINER OWNER
Thank you... I think.
After finishing the pie, Diana drinks the juice in a single
swallow -- leaving the owner and some people around
surprised.
DIANA
Your culinary talents would be
warmly welcomed in my place.

Diana takes from her belt a small leather bag that fits in
the palm of her hand. From there she grabs a GOLD COIN from
Themyscira and hands it to the Diner Owner.
DIANA (CONT'D)
Thank you for your services.
The owner examines that coin, astonished.
DINER OWNER
Is this real gold?!
When he turns to Diana, she is gone.

EXT. EARTH - SPACE


Our planet spins gracefully in the vacuum of space as always.

SUDDENLY --
-- A BURNING COMET BLASTS TOWARD IT!
In its way down, the comet CRASHES THROUGH A SATELLITE,
exploding it into pieces, before it hits the atmosphere.

INT. RESTAURANT - CENTRAL CITY - NIGHT


Lots of couples and families having a nice dinner at their
tables. Waiters and waitresses swarming with trays of food.
At one of these tables are...
... Barry and Iris. Having a romantic dinner.
IRIS
-- and it was then that I asked:
"you shoot with this hair?" After
that, he did not want to be
interviewed.
BARRY
Your editor know you do this with
your interviewed?
IRIS
That guy was flirting on me, I
needed to do something.
BARRY
You could have called me to give
him some lesson, maybe.
Iris shoots him a look: really?

But then comes A TERRIBLE WHISTLE outside.
Iris, Barry and another group of people in the restaurant run
to the windows to find out what's going on.
That's when they see -- A HUGE FIREBALL STREAKING ABOVE THE
BUILDINGS.
Some people scream PANICKED inside the restaurant and on the
streets.
IRIS (CONT'D)
Oh my God -- Barry, we need to...
As Iris turns to Barry -- A RUSH OF WIND blows her hair --
and she discovers that Barry is not there. Iris looks around,
trying to find him.
IRIS (CONT'D)
Barry?

EXT. CENTRAL CITY - NIGHT


In a GOD'S EYE VIEW of Central City -- the gridded pattern of
city blocks. A RED STREAK navigates the city in a spiral.
It moves at an incredible speed, turning into streets,
dodging cars and pedestrians.
WE DROP DOWN to the streets following the BLUR. Zigzagging
through the entire city in a blink of an eye.
There is a MAN in the red blur, lit by YELLOW SPARKS twirling
that figure. TIME SLOWS as the CAMERA PIVOTS 180 to reveal
the man in the center of the frame...
THE FLASH. Red and gold. Muscles and speed. Magnificent in a
true comic book cover pose.
TIME RESUMES as the Scarlet Speedster RACES off view, leaving
us behind.

EXT. HIGHWAY - COAST CITY - NIGHT


Hal Jordan's CAR cruises down the highway.

INT. HAL'S CAR - NIGHT


While Hal drives, his power ring BEEPS again. Kilowog's
hologram materializes from it.
KILOWOG
(hologram)
Hey, are you busy?
HAL
Nope, go ahead. What did you find?
KILOWOG
(hologram)
I spoke with the Guardians about
Kanjar Ro. And the news is not very
good.
HAL
Which are...?
KILOWOG
(hologram)
The Guardians believe it is a
creature called Starro. Sounds
familiar?

Hal shakes his head "no".


KILOWOG (CONT'D)
(hologram)
It's an intergalactic conqueror who
was banished with the help of the
Guardians to a deserted and
inhospitable planet millions of
years ago.

HAL
Any idea how this thing is coming
back active?
KILOWOG
(hologram)
Not yet. But if Starro managed to
mess Kanjar Ro's mind on the other
side of the universe, we must be
careful.
HAL
I know. I'll dig deeper here.
KILOWOG
(hologram)
All right. And Jordan, if things
get ugly out there -- do not try to
solve it yourself.
HAL
You're very cute when you play the
babysit.
KILOWOG
(hologram)
Shut up. I'm just asking you not to
be as stupid as ever.
HAL
Copy that.
The connection ends.
But it does not take long for the ring to emit another ALERT.
Beeping fast.
HAL (CONT'D)
What now?
RING
Warning. Unidentified object
invading terrestrial atmosphere.

EXT. OUTSIDE CENTRAL CITY - NIGHT


The comet departs from the city, descending every second.
Flash follows on the freeway -- diverting from all vehicles
on the way -- trying to figure out where the comet will fall.

INT. FAMILY VAN - NIGHT


A LITTLE BOY plays with two action figures in the backseat of
the car.
Moments later, AN ORANGE GLOW illuminates his face. The boy
looks out the window and sees the comet PLUMMETING toward the
van.

EXT. WOODED ROAD - NIGHT


Flash stops at the roadside in a burst of dust. There are
many cars passing by. He glances over his shoulder and
realizes the comet coming.
He knows that if nothing is done now, there will be a great
tragedy.
THE FLASH
(to himself)
All right -- you got this. You got
this.
AND --
-- WHOOSH! FLASH BOLTS IN A BLUR OF SPEED AND LIGHTNING.
Meanwhile, the comet HITS THE TREES, BARRELING OVER THEM.
Everything is OBLITERATED or left in FLAMES.
FINALLY -- BOOM. The comet IMPACTS ON THE GROUND, SCREAMING
TOWARD THE ROAD!

INT. FAMILY VAN - NIGHT


Other cars on the road brake abruptly to try to avoid the
comet as it blasts on the road, sending some cars FLYING.
The FATHER on the steering wheel SLAMS the brake hard. The
MOTHER, in the passenger seat, turns to her son in the
backseat by stretching her hand in a desperate act.
But the van is about to find its doom. This is it.
AT THIS MOMENT, THE TIME FREEZES

The father behind the wheel. The mother turned to her son
with a horrified expression. The child looking at the mother
but without imagining what is really happening.

EXT. WOODED ROAD - CONTINUOUS


Outside it's no different. The world FROZE at that moment as
the comet hits the road.
Two cars are also FROZEN IN MID-FLIP, both UPSIDE DOWN due to
comet collision. And the people inside these vehicles are
FLAILING.
It is as if the whole scene were a living photograph.
The Flash appears, MOVING FREELY amid the FROZEN. He sees the
whole situation -- surveys his options, how to act.
The Flash past the cars that are at a safe distance from the
comet, going directly to those most affected.
He climbs on a braking car and LEAPS onto the other that is
flipping in the air. He stands on top the side of the vehicle
and opens the driver's door, pulling the couple inside there.
With the man and the woman on each arm, Flash jumps onto the
road, running to the shore -- DODGING the DEBRIS in mid-air -
- and placing the couple safely on the ground.
In the next second, the Flash rushes the next car flipping.
Using the flying debris tossed into the air by the crash,
Flash climbs -- springing stone after stone toward the car.
As he lands on the hood of the car, Flash VIBRATES his right
fist at high speed. Then SMASHES THE WINDSHIELD with a punch.
Flash removes two more people from inside that car and takes
them to the roadside also safely.

INT. FAMILY VAN - CONTINUOUS


The family continues the same way we saw it before. Flash
opens a van door and pulls the father out.
Seconds later, Flash opens another door and pulls the mother.
Soon after that, he comes back and takes the child in the
backseat.
At moment the boy leaves the van --
SMASH INTO REAL TIME

The van EXPLODES, somersaulting violently aside.

EXT. WOODED ROAD - NIGHT


The comet crosses the road in a destructive way. The cars in
its path -- now empty -- are CRUSHED, turning into flaming
wreckage as the comet...
... PLOWS THROUGH THE WOODS, going deeper. It leaves a HAVOC
behind and in the width of the road.
The people saved by Flash get up totally confused, not
knowing what exactly happened in that second.
The mother and father in the van rise. She's nervous looking
for her son.
MOTHER
Matthew! Matthew!
The Flash walks over to her with the little boy in his arms,
unharmed.

THE FLASH
Here he is.
The mother grabs the child from the arms of the hero, weeping
relieved. The father hugs both of them.
MOTHER
My baby... my baby.
(to the Flash)
T-Thank you.
The Flash nods with a smile.
THE FLASH
Call the authorities.
And -- WHOOSH! Flash DISAPPEARS in a blink of an eye.

INT. NEWSROOM - DAILY PLANET - NIGHT

Clark Kent is getting ready to leave work. When he collects


his coat, he SENSES something.
CLOSE ON CLARK'S EAR: thanks to his SUPER-HEARING, Clark is
able to hear the intense commotion caused by the meteor in
Central City.
He stands motionless, hearing all he can, oblivious to
everything around him there now.
64.

VOICE (O.S.)
Kent.
Clark doesn't react, he's focused on the voices of people on
the highway where the comet crashed.
VOICE (O.S.) (CONT'D)
(shouts)
Kent!
The shout draws Clark back to the reality. He whirls to PERRY
WHITE -- chief editor of Daily Planet -- at the doorway of
his office.
CLARK
Mr. White, Hi -- I was...
PERRY
(interrupting)
What the hell are you doing
standing there like a damn mummy? A
meteor has just fallen in Central
City. Do something!
CLARK
Yes, Mr. White.
Clark exits, fast paced.
PERRY
And tell Lois!
(then)
Forget it, she already knows
anyway.

INT. HALLWAY - DAILY PLANET - NIGHT


Clark runs, pocketing his glasses, looking around as he comes
to the door of the SERVICE ROOM.
He enters, TEARS OPEN his shirt revealing the classic
SUPERMAN SYMBOL.

EXT. METROPOLIS STREETS - NIGHT


Diana is once again strolling by the city sidewalks when she
notices a commotion in front of an electronics store.
Curious, she joins the crowd to know what it is about.
In one of the televisions she sees news reports about the
meteor fall in Central City.

TV VOICE
-- and so far, it was not told if
there were any casualties on the
scene. There have been reports that
the Central City vigilante, known
as The Flash, has been spotted
helping people.
AMATEUR VIDEO FOOTAGE shows up from the moment the comet
streaks across the skies of Central City.
Realization hits Diana as she sees that.
DIANA
(almost a whisper)
"Fire will fall from the
heavens..."

She turns to an OLD MAN and grabs his arm.


OLD MAN
Hey!
DIANA
Old man, which side is this Central
City?
OLD MAN
(points up)
Over there. Why?
DIANA
Thank you.
Diana turns around and...
... TAKES OFF INTO THE SKIES.
The old man just stares, jaw on the ground as Diana's robes
fall on the sidewalk. Only he witnessed that.

EXT. CRASH SITE - WOODS - NIGHT


FLAMES and SMOKE everywhere. Several trees wrecked in the
radius of impact. Strangely, there are METAL DEBRIS strewn
across the earth.
Flash skids to a stop on the devastated soil. He eyes the
situation, shocked.
THE FLASH
Holy Jesus.

The Flash walks carefully across the area toward the comet.
Until he steps on something strange that makes him stop.
Flash looks down and finds a METAL SHARD.
He bends down and picks up the small piece of metal,
examining it for a moment. It's a metal unlike any other on
the planet.
The smoke around the comet begins to disperse, slowly
revealing what is really there.
Flash rises as he finally realizes that the comet is in fact
an ALIEN SPACESHIP.
Damaged. Lying on its side. It's slim with a clean design, as
if made of an organic metal.
MESMERIZED, Flash approaches the ship slowly, still not
believing what he is seeing.
He stretches his arm to touch the surface of the ship. But
seconds before he made contact --
GREEN LANTERN (O.S.)
I would not do it if I were you.
Flash breaks off and turns to where the voice came -- it's
GREEN LANTERN, descending from the sky.
GREEN LANTERN (CONT'D)
(landing)
You can contract an alien bacterium
capable of corroding your body from
the inside out like an acid. I've
seen it happen and it was not cool,
believe me.
THE FLASH
Wait -- what?
GREEN LANTERN
You did a good job saving those
people on the road, but I assume
from now on.
THE FLASH
Thanks, but -- dude! It's an alien
spaceship! Right here!
GREEN LANTERN
Spaceships are like snow at first
glance, but then you discover that
they are nothing too much. Trust
me.

Green Lantern heads toward the ship. Flash's still processing


all that in his mind.
THE FLASH
Right... okay. I think we should
start over again. Who are you?
GREEN LANTERN
I am a member of the Green Lantern
Corps. We are more like space-cops
who help maintain order in the
universe and all. And the Earth
stays in my sector.
THE FLASH
So there's more like you?
GREEN LANTERN
We cover 3600 sectors of the known
universe. So, yes.
THE FLASH
Wow. I'm sorry for my reaction, but
it's not every day that I learn
there are alien ships and a police
force from space.
GREEN LANTERN
That's okay. I've been in your
place when I --
A POUND inside the spaceship makes Green Lantern HALT a few
meters from it.
Silence.
Then another POUND. And ANOTHER. It's as if something inside
was struggling to get out.
Green Lantern aims his glowing ring at the ship. The Flash
just stares.
THE FLASH
Huh... any guesses about what that
is?
GREEN LANTERN
Get ready.
The poundings are getting stronger until finally...
... A CHUNK of the spaceship POPS OUT. Flash STARTLES. Green
Lantern gets ready for whatever comes.

All they see inside is DARKNESS.


However, a SHADOW moves in there. Slowly.
THE FLASH
Something is coming.
A STAGGERING FIGURE emerges from the spaceship, barely able
to stand. It drops on its knees, revealing to be a MARTIAN.
Massive. Green. Iron brow. Red eyes. Long limbs. His name is
J'ONN J'ONZZ, and he's still dizzy from the crash.
GREEN LANTERN
A Martian...
THE FLASH
Martian? Like... from Mars?
GREEN LANTERN
Where else could it be?
Green Lantern takes some steps forward, always aiming his
ring at J'onn.
GREEN LANTERN (CONT'D)
You're a long way from home, pal.
Why are you here?
J'onn doesn't respond, he rests on his knees looking around,
as if trying to understand where he is.

GREEN LANTERN (CONT'D)
I am the Green Lantern responsible
for this sector, so I demand a
response.
The emerald ring GLOWS menacingly. J'onn simply turns his
head to Green Lantern, staring him with his deep red eyes.
TIGHT ON Green Lantern, as ASSORTED VOICES echo inside his
mind. Getting LOUDER and louder. Green Lantern grabs his head
feeling a terrible nuisance.
GREEN LANTERN (CONT'D)
Get off my head!
He then FIRES a green blast at J'onn, knocking him off his
feet.
THE FLASH
What did you do?!
69.

GREEN LANTERN
He was trying to invade my mind!
J'onn fights to rise again as Green Lantern walks toward him.
GREEN LANTERN (CONT'D)
You'd better start giving me
explanations or I'll take you
somewhere further from your home.
J'onn's eyes GLOW again as he glares at Green Lantern, who
stops, feeling that nuisance in his head.
J'ONN (V.O.)
Your people... need... to be...
warned.
He speaks directly to Green Lantern and Flash via TELEPATHY,
but neither is accustomed to it and what they feel most is
pain.
The Speedster falls on his knees. Green Lantern shakes his
head trying to get rid of the voice.
GREEN LANTERN
I said stay away from my head!
In an almost involuntary movement of Green Lantern, he fires
another energy blast toward J'onn.
BUT --
-- A BLUR OF RED AND BLUE appears in a SWIRL OF WIND AND
DUST, blocking the blast.
Green Lantern realizes: SUPERMAN. Who holds his palm up,
smoking green.
SUPERMAN
I think he is not a threat now.
Telepathy is interrupted. Flash gets up and notices Superman
there, staring at him AMAZED.
THE FLASH
Holy shi-- It's him.
SUPERMAN
You okay, Flash?

THE FLASH
Wait, do you know me?

SUPERMAN
I read the news about your work in
Central City. Those people are
lucky to have you.

Flash cannot contain a proud smirk on his face. Superman


turns to Green Lantern.
SUPERMAN (CONT'D)
And you are seen frequently in
Coast City, am I correct?
Green Lantern calms down.
GREEN LANTERN
That's right. But as I said, my
responsibility covers far more than
a city.
SUPERMAN
I understand. I've heard you before
arrive here.
THE FLASH
You heard him?

SUPERMAN
But as far as I can see, nothing
justifies attacking a defenseless
prisoner.
GREEN LANTERN
I was not attacking, I was
defending myself. He is a telepath,
which increases the risks here.
THE FLASH
What kind of risks are you talking
about?
GREEN LANTERN
Depending on the extent of his
power, he can control one of us --
or all of us.
SUPERMAN
No one is going to let that happen.
GREEN LANTERN
You have no guarantees. We do not
know his real intentions, so...
J'ONN (V.O.)
Let me clarify the situation then.

The three heroes feel a pain in the head at the same time.
J'onn formed a MENTAL LINK with all of them using his
telepathy.
J'ONN (V.O.) (CONT'D)
I did not want to cause so many...
disturbances with my arrival, I'm
sorry.
Green Lantern points his glowing ring at J'onn.
GREEN LANTERN
I said...
Superman grasps Green Lantern's wrist.
SUPERMAN
Wait. Let's hear what he has to say
first.
J'ONN (V.O.)
The Green Lantern is right, I'm a
long way from home. I also have my
responsibilities there. But I had
to come here to warn your people of
the imminent danger.
SUPERMAN (V.O.)
What danger?
J'ONN (V.O.)
There is something hiding in the
depths of your world. Something
that threatens to destroy all life.
And it is waking up.
Suddenly: A GOLDEN LASSO wraps around J'onn's torso,
interrupting him. He's YANKED BACKWARDS toward...
... DIANA, standing on top of a fallen tree. But from now on
the world will know her as WONDER WOMAN -- it's the first
time we've seen her with the complete hero look.
She hangs J'onn in the air, holding the lasso. Green Lantern
points his ring at her.
GREEN LANTERN
Please tell me she's with some of
you guys.
Superman and Flash share confused looks.
72.

WONDER WOMAN
I am Diana of Themyscira, princess
of the Amazons. And I am here to
end this monster and prevent the
apocalypse of the world.
THE FLASH
Apocalypse? What the hell are you
talking about?
WONDER WOMAN
The oracle of Themyscira warned me
about this day. Fire will fall from
the heavens. Millions will march in
one single step...
Wonder Woman lifts J'onn, glaring into his eyes.
WONDER WOMAN (CONT'D)
... with red eyes.
SUPERMAN
She will not hesitate to kill the
Martian. Flash, can you take him
from her?
Flash gives Superman a nod.
WONDER WOMAN
Stay out of my way and I'll take
care of this from now on.
GREEN LANTERN
It's not how it works, lady.
When she least expects, FLASH WHOOSHES PAST WONDER WOMAN,
taking J'onn from her before she can react.
Right after that, Green Lantern creates a RESTRAINING
STRUCTURE around Wonder Woman's body, keeping her stuck.

GREEN LANTERN (CONT'D)
Now it's your turn to give some
answers.
But there is something wrong -- Green Lantern's construct is
SPIDERWEBBING gradually.
Green Lantern tries to keep the structure intact, but the
cracks are spreading more and more until...
... KRASHH! Wonder Woman SHATTERS the construct with her
strength, getting free. Green Lantern stares, wide-eyed.
73.

Off Green Lantern's reaction, Wonder Woman DASHES forward


HITTING Lantern full-forced hard in the face, sending him
FLYING through the woods.
Superman grabs the Amazon from behind, trying to immobilize
her.
SUPERMAN
I don't want to fight you!
WONDER WOMAN
Then go home.
Wonder Woman HEADBUTTS Superman with the back of her head,
then takes him out with a ROUNDHOUSE KICK.
ANGLE ON: THE FLASH, seeing that woman knocking out Superman.
He turns to J'onn, who sits on the ground behind him.
THE FLASH
I'll take you further away from
here.
J'ONN
We must warn... everyone.
THE FLASH
Yeah, I know -- but now we have a
big problem to deal with, and you
are the goal here.
J'ONN
Look out!
The Lasso of Truth loops around Flash's neck. Wonder Woman
starts to DRAG him for her.
Midway, Flash gets rid of the lasso and PUSHES Wonder Woman
back using his super-speed.
She SLAMS into a tree, drops on her knees. Flash walks toward
her.
THE FLASH
Listen, we do not have to keep this
up. Lets all talk about it and know
exactly what's going on.
Wonder Woman shoots a look at The Flash. A look that tells
him that she will break him apart.
THE FLASH (CONT'D)
Wait--
74.

Wonder Woman LASHES OUT at The Flash. The Scarlet Speedster


EVADES A VOLLEY OF BLOWS from her easily.
He's too fast for her. Each punch or kick just hits the air,
and sometimes some tree trunks.
Flash then runs CIRCLES around her, leaving impossible for
Wonder Woman to see him clearly.
Flash hits the back of Wonder Woman's knees without even
realizing him, knocking her to the ground.
WONDER WOMAN'S POV: all she sees is a crimson cyclone around
her. Diana knows that she will not be able to reach him so
easily.

Wonder Woman raises both fists above her head and DRIVES THEM
INTO THE GROUND...
... ROCKING the earth hard enough to UNBALANCE Flash. As he
falls to the ground, Wonder Woman steps on his chest.
WONDER WOMAN
Your powers may equate with the
messenger of the gods, but it is
not enough to stop me.
AT THAT MOMENT --
-- Green Lantern TACKLES WONDER WOMAN IN MID-FLIGHT --
-- slamming her against a tree, which TILTS back with the
impact.
He sends a punch for her, but Wonder Woman SWERVES her head -
- letting him hit the tree instead.

Wonder Woman KNEES Green Lantern's RIBS and shoves him a few
meters back.
As Green Lantern stands, he creates a MASSIVE GIRDER above
Wonder Woman and BRINGS IT DOWN straight to her.
But the Amazon HOLDS THE GIRDER with her bare hands. The
weight makes her feet sink to the ground.
Annoyed, Green Lantern pushes the energy girder down as
Wonder Woman bears it with her muscles.
With one hand, Wonder Woman removes her TIARA and HURLS it
like a boomerang...
... which BOUNCES off Green Lantern's forehead, making him
stagger a few steps back.
75.

The concentration is broken and the girder dissolves. Diana


grabs her tiara back.
Wonder Woman quickly RIPS A WHOLE TREE OFF THE GROUND --
while Green Lantern is stunned -- and WHACKS him with it. He
flies wildly into the woods.
Half of the tree simply exploded into pieces.
THE FLASH
Lantern!
Flash BOLTS after Green Lantern and overtakes him. He stops a
few miles ahead of the emerald hero and prepares to catch
him.
BAM! Green Lantern COLLIDES on Flash -- but he was going at
such a speed that both fall to the ground.
ANGLE ON: WONDER WOMAN, realizing that there are no enemies
around except J'onn, who just looks at her without any fear.
She heads toward him, one staring at another.
WONDER WOMAN
I promise to be quick and merciful
to you, creature.
J'ONN
I had seen death before. I do not
fear you.
Wonder Woman senses something. She turns around as Superman
BULLETS toward her from behind.
THEY CLASH. Hands into hands, holding firmly. THE SHOCK WAVE
RIPPLES through the woods.
Both are in a deadlock. Measuring forces, practically
equivalent. Superman in mid-air. Diana with her feet planted
in the ground.
Superman then headbutts Wonder Woman. Her head just leans
back a few inches. She headbutts Superman back, dropping him
to the ground.
Wonder Woman LEAPS with a hauled fist toward Superman. The
Man of Steel rolls away as she PUNCHES the ground. Superman
gets up, fills his chest and blows his SUPER-BREATH.
It's like a small-scale hurricane coming out of the lungs of
the Kryptonian. Wonder Woman is driven away by the GUST,
BOUNCING over the ground until hit a tree.
76.

Wonder Woman rises wiping away the dust the wind blew over
her body. Superman raises his hands in a sign of peace.
SUPERMAN
Please! We can stop this now before
anyone else gets seriously hurt.
WONDER WOMAN
The only one I want to hurt is the
creature that will doom everyone.
You and the others have chosen your
side. I'm trying to save the
millions of innocent lives in this
world, and you're risking yours for
someone you've just seen?
SUPERMAN
I don't know your beliefs, your
culture or your... oracle. But I
know that a life is invaluable to
be taken like that. It does not
matter who it is.
Wonder Woman pauses for a second, considering that words. But
her duty speaks louder.
WONDER WOMAN
I feel nobility in your words, but
it needs to be done. For a greater
good.

SUPERMAN
Diana, please...
Wonder Woman starts to pick up tumbled LOGS on the ground and
FLING one after another for Superman.
SUPERMAN (CONT'D)
Damn it.
Superman SWATS all the logs that come to him. Wonder Woman
does not stop to throw, also alternating between logs and
rocks.
And Superman reduces everything into shreds with his steel
fists. One of the logs flies horizontally toward him.
Superman fires his HEAT VISION to SPLIT IT IN HALF.
That's when Wonder Woman ZOOMS IN, striking her knee into
Superman's CHIN. He's knocked down hard.
As Diana touches down, The Flash blows in and SHOULDER-BUMPS
WONDER WOMAN IN SUPER-SPEED.
77.

She's LAUNCHED meters away.


Wonder Woman SINKS her fingers into the ground to stop her
momentum. Flash does not waste time and runs -- in half a
second, he goes to the Amazon and TIES her body with her own
lasso.

THE FLASH
I got her!
When Flash thinks that he solved the situation, Wonder Woman
manages to hold her Lasso and SWINGS Flash with all her
might...
... sending him SAILING endlessly way, UP into the sky.
As Wonder Woman unties herself, J'onn suddenly PHASES OUT THE
GROUND behind her like a ghost.
When the Amazon Warrior notes him -- J'onn grabs her head.
His eyes GLOW red. She GASPS.
At that moment, Wonder Woman has VISIONS SHARED FROM J'ONN'S
MIND. A RAPID-FIRE SEQUENCE OF IMAGES -- each image presented
in only the fraction of a second.
Diana sees fragments of her PAST in Themyscira interspersed
with MEMORIES of J'onn and his people on Mars. Then
APOCALYPTIC images -- similar to the ones Lyla saw --
followed by a primitive GROWL, deep hoarse and threatening,
culminating in a quick image of STARRO.
Wonder Woman pulls herself away from J'onn, stunned by the
visions. Mentally exhausted. She stares at him, breathing
hard, speechless.

EXT. SKY ABOVE WOODS - NIGHT


Miles above the ground, Flash arcs through the air like a
rag-doll, HOWLING in despair.
Gravity begins to do its job by bringing Flash down now.
THE FLASH
SHIT-SHIT-SHIT-SHIT!!
The earth is swelling up fast.

THE FLASH (CONT'D)
Think, Barry -- THINK!!
78.

The Speedster DIVES for his doom. But an idea lights up in


his mind in time. Flash stabilizes himself in mid-fall,
stretching his arms down.

He begins to SPIN his arms at SUPER-SPEED, creating a


WHIRLWIND toward the ground.
Surprisingly, Flash is SLOWING DOWN -- he chuckles, not
believing that it's working.
He's getting slower and slower until --

EXT. WOODS - NIGHT


-- CRASH through the canopy, CLIPPING branches, before
finally hitting the ground hard.
Flash lies sprawled, motionless. But alive.
A long beat.

EXT. CRASH SITE - WOODS - NIGHT

Back at Wonder Woman and J'onn. She staggers to her feet,


confused.
WONDER WOMAN
What... what did you do to me? What
was all that?
J'ONN
I just showed you a bit of what
I've seen in the last few months.
Whatever it is, it comes from this
planet.
Doubts permeate Wonder Woman's head now. Maybe that Martian
is telling the truth.
Before she came to a conclusion, Diana hears the RATTLE of
trees and foliage SNAPPING and being CRUSHED.
Wonder Woman looks over shoulder as a GREEN-TRANSLUCENT
LOCOMOTIVE HURTLES OUT THE WOODS STRAIGHT TOWARD HER!
Wonder Woman SHIELDS herself as the locomotive RAMS her full
on, HUSTLING the Amazon Warrior away from J'onn, into the
woods.
Green Lantern flies in and lands. Turns to J'onn.
79.

GREEN LANTERN
You okay?
J'ONN
For now.
GREEN LANTERN
I'll take you to a safe place.
Green Lantern projects a bubble around J'onn and takes
flight, carrying the Martian with him.
BUT --
-- Wonder Woman's lasso loops around Green Lantern's ankle,
preventing him to move. He looks down and sees WW holding the
lasso, feet planted on the floor.
GREEN LANTERN (CONT'D)
Come on!
Wonder Woman TUGS her lasso, dropping Green Lantern and J'onn
onto the ground. As she approaches them, Lantern creates
another bubble around himself and J'onn.
Wonder Woman HAMMERS the bubble with her fists like a
machine. The construct CRACKS -- Green Lantern does his best
to endure.
But Wonder Woman BREAKS the energy bubble after several
consecutive blows. She grabs Green Lantern by the throat and
lifts him off the ground.
They stare into each other's eyes for a second. It's time
enough for Green Lantern to project an ENERGY CANNON around
his right arm.
As Wonder Woman realizes that...
... Green Lantern FIRES a blast at her midsection, THROWING
her meters BACKWARDS. Green Lantern drops on fours, catching
some breath.
Wonder Woman stands up, grabbing her smoking stomach.
Superman comes flying toward her. The Amazon uses his own
momentum to knock him to the ground.
Superman gets up promptly, eyes glowing HOT RED. He fires his
heat vision JUST AS Wonder Woman CROSSES HER WRISTS...
... blocking the attack with her BRACELETS. Inevitably, the
beams RICOCHET off the metal, into another direction...
... TEARING THROUGH trees, foliage and the MARTIAN SPACESHIP.
80.

BOOM! THE SHIP BLOWS UP.


The explosion knocks down Wonder Woman, Superman, Green
Lantern and J'onn J'onzz.
FLAMES spread throughout the forest, surrounding those heroes
in a ring of fire.
CLOSE ON: J'ONN, staring at the fire curtain in front of him.
Transfixed by TERROR. We realize that the flames affect him
more intensely than the others.
J'onn ends up fainting, weak.
Flash appears and comes across that INFERNO. And he's off
again. Running circles around the fire, faster and faster.
Creating a VORTEX that sucks the air out of the center.
Debris, rocks, tree leaves, wrecked logs are all sucked off
the ground, into the tornado.

Moments later, Flash stops. Panting, resting with hands on


his knees.
Superman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern recompose
themselves. They all exchange looks, without knowing how to
proceed now.
Awkward beat.
THEN --
-- PROPELLERS and ENGINES sound close. Green Lantern tilts
his head up as SPOTLIGHTS bathe the heroes in that area.
Overhead: MILITARY HELICOPTERS swarm over the gang.
HUMVEES pull up with SOLDIERS manning the .50. More soldiers
armed to the teeth emerge from every direction, surrounding
the heroes. Aiming their RIFLES at them.
GREEN LANTERN (CONT'D)
Hold on, guys, the situation is
under control.
SOLDIER
Hands up now!
GREEN LANTERN
Listen--
SOLDIER
Hands fucking up!

are under arrest on behalf of the
United States government.
GREEN LANTERN
You're kidding, right?
WALLER
(sarcastically)
Yes, Mr. Green, I'm a big joker. It

SUPERMAN
I know you're doing your job, but
we're done here. We can solve this
whole situation together
peacefully.

WALLER
Peacefully? Do you think I'm
stupid? I was listening to the
rumblings of your fight miles from
here. If we were in a downtown, it
would be all decimated.

Oh, this is not going to happen,

Green Lantern's ring glow. Wonder Woman clenches her fists.
Both preparing to fight their way out.
WALLER
Go ahead. Move a finger against me
and a nuclear missile from
somewhere will hit the heart of
Central City in a few minutes.
Our gang is taken aback -- mainly Flash.
THE FLASH
What did you say?
WALLER
You heard me very well. You can
obliterate me with your powers or
throw me into deep space, but the
missile will still come. And only I
have the code to stop it.
THE FLASH
That can't be true -- you're
bluffing. She's bluffing, right?
SUPERMAN
It's an entire city!
WALLER
Good thing you're aware of the
risks.
WONDER WOMAN
Would you sacrifice millions of
people just to give us a warning?
GREEN LANTERN
Bullshit. Nobody would do something
like that. She and everyone at the
Pentagon would rot in Guantanamo.
Waller grins.
WALLER
I doubt it. All the blame for the
destruction would fall on you, and
every metahuman scattered in the
world would be hunted down and
killed in a public square until
there was no one left standing.

coffin about your cause -- and

The heroes exchange looks, insecure and uncertain. What can

Waller takes a step closer to Superman, looking him in the
eyes.

WALLER
Tell me, boy scout, I'm bluffing?

BEAT as Superman stares at Waller's stern face. That look


says a lot about her, except she's a liar.

And Superman realizes that.


SUPERMAN
All right. We'll go with you.

WONDER WOMAN
You can not be serious.

WALLER
You really want to test me, pretty
girl?

Seeing that others agree with Waller, Wonder Woman lowers her
fists and surrenders as well.

WALLER (CONT'D)
(to the soldiers)
Put them all in the chopper.
Whatever joke they try, you're
allowed to shoot.
Waller spots J'onn, who lies unconscious on the ground.

WALLER (CONT'D)
Prepare the special transport for
the green one. I want to know what
he knows.

EXT. SKY - NIGHT

The convoy of helicopters cuts through the cloudy sky. One of


them hoists a HIGH-TECH CONTAINER -- it's like a vault, made
to contain specifically metahumans.

INSIDE THE CONTAINER: J'onn is trapped in cuffs in his hands


and feet that hold him strained. He's still unconscious.

INT. HELICOPTER - NIGHT


The four heroes sit in their seats with thick ELECTRONIC
HANDCUFFS. A group of soldiers stand pointing their rifles at
them throughout the trip.

But none of the heroes feels threatened by that.


GREEN LANTERN
You know bullets do not make the
slightest difference, right?
A nervous soldier glances at his comrades and keeps aiming.

THE FLASH
Does anyone know where we're being
taken?

CLOSE ON SUPERMAN'S EYES: as he turns his head to the side,


his eyes emit a simple bluish glow when using the X-RAY
VISION.

SUPERMAN
Washington.
THE FLASH
What's in Washington?
GREEN LANTERN
A few things, like Walmart, the
Capitol, the President...
THE FLASH
You know what I meant.
Superman notices that Wonder Woman is holding her head down
staring at the floor, reflective.

being the cause for the apocalypse
you saw?

WONDER WOMAN
I'm not sure. Not after... what he
made me see. Those visions... I do
not know what to think anymore.

INT. BATCAVE - NIGHT

The elevator door of the cave opens. Bruce steps out, still
wearing his suit and tie from work.
He climbs to the command level where Alfred is.

WAYNE
So, some news about the meteor
crash?

ALFRED
I think you will find this
interesting, Master Bruce.

Alfred switches channel on one of the monitors of the console


for a broadcast about the meteor in Central City.

Wayne watches as he strips out his suit.


REPORTER (V.O.)
-- authorities have already
surrounded the site. The road has
been blocked until everything is
resolved. Fortunately, there were
no casualties in the disaster.
Footage of the MOTHER we saw Flash save at that moment
appears giving the reporter an interview. She holds her
little boy in her arms.
MOTHER
(on screen)
He simply came and in the blink of
an eye, we were out of the car --
out of the road. The Flash has
saved us all... and we will be
eternally grateful.
Now, AERIAL FOOTAGE of the crash site. It's surrounded by the
military.

REPORTER (V.O.)
Secretary Waller was spotted at the
crash site almost an hour ago.

We do not yet have information on
what she was doing there or what
the military is investigating in
the woods.

WAYNE
Waller.

What are you up to?

EXT. ATLANTIS - NIGHT

The majestic sunken city, gleaming at the seabed. SENTRIES


monitor the gate wielding their sharp spears and mounted on
HUGE SEAHORSES clad in CORAL ARMOR.

SUPER: "ATLANTIS"

INT. ROYAL BEDCHAMBER - ATLANTIS - NIGHT


The heavy doors are opened by QUEEN MERA. She steps into the
room, finding...

... Aquaman in the balcony -- her husband -- thoughtful.

MERA
Arthur.
Aquaman turns to her.

AQUAMAN
Mera... I'm sorry, I did not see
you.

He approaches her.
MERA
You always stand there when
something happens.
AQUAMAN
I did not tell you, but... on my
last visit to the surface, I found
Superman.

MERA
And why did this shake you?

AQUAMAN
I respect him, he’s an honorable
man. But he really believes in
humanity. I see in his eyes.

But in that moment, Aquaman breaks off. In ALERT.

In silence, Aquaman steps up to the balcony again, looking


out his kingdom.
AQUAMAN’S POV: A SHOAL of thousands of miscellaneous fish
swim through the city, fleeing FRIGHTENED and hurried.
It’s not a good prediction, and Aquaman knows that.

He closes his eyes, concentrating. Aquaman uses his SONAR to


communicate with the fishes.

When he opens his eyes again, there is a great feeling of


concern.

AQUAMAN
Something is wrong under my domain,
Mera. Whatever it is, it threatens
all marine life.
Aquaman returns to the bedroom and begins to wear his scaly
armor shirt.
MERA
This has never happened before. I'm
Not a good feeling.
Now suited up, Aquaman takes the last item: his trident, and
steps closer to Mera.

AQUAMAN
I know. But I can not run away from
my duties. I’ll be back.

After a kiss, Aquaman leaves.

EXT. OCEAN DEPTHS - NIGHT


Aquaman TEARS through the water like a human torpedo. He
swims with an AMAZING SPEED, quicker than anyone or any fish.

EXT. RIDGE ABOVE FISSURE - OCEAN DEPTHS - NIGHT

Upon arriving at his destination, Aquaman stands on the edge


of the ridge staring at the horror OFF CAMERA.

AQUAMAN
In the name of Poseidon...
REVERSE ANGLE REVEALS --

A COLOSSAL FISSURE stretches for miles on the seabed. A gap


that had gradually opened up over the thousands of years.

Off Aquaman’s shocked face...


... a terrible and telepathic SHRIEK sounds loudly in
Aquaman's mind, making him fall on his knees grabbing his
head.
While he suffers there, it’s possible to hear the rocks
moving away, collapsing as a flaming light emerges from the
fissure.
Followed that, a creepy and GUTTURAL MONSTROUS ROAR. The same
thing we heard at the beginning of the movie.

Whatever is there, is coming.

EXT. SKIES OF WASHINGTON D.C. - NIGHT

The military helicopters head toward a massive governmental


facility called PROJECT CADMUS.
SUPER: "PROJECT CADMUS, WASHINGTON D.C."

EXT. HELIPAD - PROJECT CADMUS - NIGHT

Two helicopters land. Emerging from the first: Amanda Waller.


She talks on her phone.
WALLER
No, the situation is under control.
I have five metahumans here. We
will start the process as soon as
possible.
From the second chopper: Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash and
Green Lantern exit, still handcuffed. Waller packs her phone.

WALLER (CONT'D)
Come with me.

Waller enters the building. Superman looks up as the


helicopter carrying J'onn passes over his head.
The four heroes enter the building, following Waller.

INT. DETENTION CHAMBER - PROJECT CADMUS - MOMENTS LATER

Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash and J'onn are


all placed in ADVANCED RETAINING DEVICES that keep their
limbs stretched.

J'onn still seems to be unconscious.


In front of them is a tinted glass wall. The glass BLEACHES
OUT, revealing Waller and a bunch of soldiers behind the
wall.
GREEN LANTERN
There you are. Everything you said
about Central City was a bunch of
bullshit after all, was not it?

Calmly, Waller picks up her phone and dials a number. After


waiting a few seconds, she speaks:

WALLER
Waller. Code six-zero-four-two.
Cancel detonation.

She pockets her phone again. Green Lantern's eyes widen.


WALLER (CONT'D)
You are trapped in our prototype of
metahuman containment. If any of
you try to force an opening, you
will receive a charge of energy
strong enough to fry your body. So
be meek.
THE FLASH
When are you going to let us go?
WALLER
When I command. First, I want to
know what you have to do with the
alien that came in that comet.
SUPERMAN
We were trying to figure this out
until you got there.
J'ONN
As I was trying to say before...
All eyes turn to J'onn, now awake.

J'ONN (CONT'D)
... I came to give a warning to
your people.

WALLER
So you do not know these other
beings?

J'ONN
So far.
(to Green Lantern)
I'm sorry for getting into your
mind without permission, but I
needed to learn your language. And
on Mars, it's something common
among us.
GREEN LANTERN

The creature that hides inside your
world is coming, I can feel it. Its

Mars I was affected by it. Those

Realization hits Flash.

have been several reports around
the world of people who have simply
gone mad with voices in their
heads. So this thing was the cause?

J'ONN
Possibly. Starro uses its psychic
power to influence everyone in its
favor.

GREEN LANTERN
Wait -- did you call this thing
Starro?

J'ONN
It referred to itself in this way.

SUPERMAN
You know what this is about,
Lantern?

GREEN LANTERN
I was informed that Starro was
banished by the Guardians of the
Universe to a desert, lifeless
planet, millions of years ago. I
did not know it was the Earth they
were talking about.

Wonder Woman turns to J'onn.


WONDER WOMAN
So you're not the real threat here.
J'ONN
No. I just want to help.

INT. WAR ROOM - PENTAGON - NIGHT

General Eiling comes in. ANALYSTS and military personnel


analyze the screens in front of them.
EILING
It better be urgent, gentlemen.
ANALYST
Our satellites detected something
very dense moving across the
Atlantic, sir.

The analyst points to one monitor. Gen. Eiling leans closer


to see it better.
ON THE MONITOR: A massive BLACK CLOUD ON THE GLOBE -- it's
like a storm, but more intense than any ever seen.
EILING
Did you call me because of a storm?

ANALYST
Not quite a storm, sir.
Meteorologists say it is moving
against the wind.
EILING
So, what are we're seeing there?

ANALYST
We're not sure yet, sir. Even more
so after our thermal images of the
cloud.
EILING
Show me.
On another monitor, THERMAL IMAGES of the cloud taken from
the satellite show up. Eiling eyes it but cannot believe in
that.
It's possible see in the core of that black cloud something
very large in the shape of a starfish. Moving.

EILING (CONT'D)
What the hell...?

INT. OBSERVATION ROOM - PROJECT CADMUS - NIGHT

The room where Waller and the other soldiers see the heroes
imprisoned. She is thoughtful, quiet.

GREEN LANTERN
Come on, Waller, are you going to
get us out of here or not? You have
heard the whole story, there is
something coming ready to end human
life, and we can't stay here in
your cage.

WALLER
Keep your mouth shut, Green Boy. I
do not know if you guys planned all
this, but no one will leave here
until I have my conclusions.
SUPERMAN
This is ridiculous.

Superman starts flexing his arms to break those cuffs, but an


intense ELECTRIC CHARGE is unleashed, coursing through his
body at that moment.

The Man of Steel MOANS in pain. Until the moment the charge
ends. Superman hangs his head, breathing hard.

WALLER
You understand me now?
An OFFICIAL appears at the doorway behind Waller.

OFFICIAL
Secretary Waller, General Eiling is
on the line.
WALLER
Not now.

OFFICIAL
He says that it is an extreme
urgency. Something unidentified
approaches the Atlantic and fast.
That catches Waller's attention.

WALLER
Something?
J'ONN
Can you understand us now,
Secretary Waller?

BEAT as Waller makes a decision.

WALLER
(to the soldiers)
Do not take your eyes off them.

Waller leaves.

INT. WALLER'S OFFICE - PROJECT CADMUS - NIGHT


A moment later, Waller walks in alone and sits down at her
desk, where a laptop is already waiting for her. She connects
with Eiling.
WALLER
Eiling, I'm here.

INT. DETENTION CHAMBER - PROJECT CADMUS - NIGHT

The five heroes stare at the armed soldiers monitoring them


behind the glass wall.
THE FLASH (V.O.)
Man, I just wanted this madness to
end soon.

J'ONN (V.O.)
We're working on it.
Flash REACTS.

THE FLASH (V.O.)


What?

[NOTE: from here on, telepathic conversations will be


ITALICIZED and marked V.O.]
J'ONN (V.O.)
I created a telepathic link between
us so nobody suspects. We need to
get out of here and deal with
Starro before it's too late.

WONDER WOMAN (V.O.)


Anyone has any plans?

SUPERMAN (V.O.)
I can bear the electric charge and
break these handcuffs.

GREEN LANTERN (V.O.)


I think it would be better to have
a more discreet plan that does not
require someone to burn your own
body.

THE FLASH (V.O.)


I have something in mind, but with
those guys looking at us it's going
to be harder.

J'ONN (V.O.)
I got this.

J'onn turns his head to the soldiers behind the glass. His
Martian eyes GLOW and...
... the men suddenly collapse at the same time, remaining on
the floor as they were sleeping deeply.
J'ONN (V.O.) (CONT'D)
They're going to sleep for a long
time.
Superman spots a SURVEILLANCE CAMERA on the ceiling. With his
heat vision, he MELTS it.
SUPERMAN
All right, Flash. It's your time.

THE FLASH
Okay. Look, I have not done this
many times so do not be surprised
if I... pass out.
WONDER WOMAN
Just go.

Flash concentrates, breathing deeply. Then his whole body


starts to VIBRATE, increasing the frequency every second.
MOLECULAR SPEED.

The others just watch as The Flash is becoming a LIVING BLUR


in the retaining device.

Flash's so fast that his body SLIP ENTIRELY THROUGH THE CUFFS
as if he were a ghost. As he gets free, Flash stops his
vibrations, landing on the floor quite tired.

It's as if he has run for miles without stopping.


But Flash uses his last forces to free the other heroes with
his super-speed -- after that, he sits on the ground, with
swaying legs.

(gasping)
My God...
GREEN LANTERN
You okay?
THE FLASH
Yeah... yeah... fine... I just need
some calories.
WONDER WOMAN
Now let's get out of here.

INT. WALLER'S OFFICE - PROJECT CADMUS - NIGHT

ON THE LAPTOP: Waller receives the satellite's thermal image


of the creature on the Atlantic Ocean.

Amanda stares, thinking. Maybe the bastards told the truth.


EILING (V.O.)
Whatever it is, it's moving fast.
Maybe it will reach the east coast
in less than three days. What do
you command?

WALLER
Move our troops to the base at
Happy Harbor. We gonna use the old
Sanctuary. Let's first know exactly
what we're dealing with here.
Suddenly: an ALARM goes off. Waller gets up and grabs her
RADIO urgently.

WALLER (CONT'D)
What the hell is going on?

An official sounds over the radio:


OFFICIAL (V.O.)
The metahumans -- they escaped!
Off Waller's look...

INT. CORRIDOR - PROJECT CADMUS - NIGHT


We are in the middle of a BRAWL. Gods vs men. Military vs
super-humans. Even so, the soldiers wielding their assault
rifles are no match for our heroes.

Wonder Woman uses her combat skills against those poor men.
Each blow sends one of them away as if they were toys.
Superman grabs one by his vest and SLAMS him into the
ceiling. He JERKS another through a door. With his SUPER-
BREATH, Superman BLOWS three other soldiers to the end of the
corridor.

Inside a GREEN BUBBLE, Green Lantern, J'onn, who helps a weak


Flash to stand, shield themselves from SHOTS fired from
another bunch of soldiers.

Green Lantern's bubble MORPHS into a wall in the exact width


and height of the hallway. Then he pushes the wall toward the
soldiers, knocking them all down like bowling pins.

In the end, a young soldier stood. He reloads his rifle


nervously and aims at Wonder Woman with shaky hands.

Wonder Woman SNATCHES the soldier's rifle before he can pull


the trigger.
WONDER WOMAN
Your weapon is very noisy. So you
can not hear another enemy coming.
The Amazon easily SPLITS the rifle in half with her hands.
The young soldier runs away, SCARED.
SUPERMAN
There are more of them coming here.

WONDER WOMAN
We can not waste any more time on
this.

GREEN LANTERN
Agreed. Do we have any way out?

SUPERMAN
Yes. Follow me.

THEN --
-- Superman takes off upwards, SOARING straight up through
the ceilings.

GREEN LANTERN
Ladies first.

Wonder Woman flies up through the hole. Green Lantern wraps


J'onn, Flash and himself with a bubble and so the three take
flight together.

EXT. PROJECT CADMUS - NIGHT


Superman BURSTS OUT THE BUILDING. Right after him comes
Wonder Woman. And after her, a green energy bubble with Green
Lantern, Flash and J'onn inside.

INT. CORRIDOR - PROJECT CADMUS - NIGHT


Waller strides across the corridor, passing by several fallen
soldiers on the ground. Behind her, an official follows.

They stop where the heroes made their exit. Waller stares at
that hole in the ceiling.

OFFICIAL
I already ordered the helicopters,
ma'am. The new artillery from
Project Cadmus will be settled.
WALLER
Cancel it.

OFFICIAL
Ma'am?

WALLER
Our priority has changed to
something much bigger now.

EXT. HAPPY HARBOR - DAWN


A small coastal town where a TOWERING MOUNTAIN stands out.
It's called THE SANCTUARY.
SUPER: "HAPPY HARBOR, RHODE ISLAND"

CUT TO:
A BROADCAST. Snapper Carr reports to the camera on the
sidewalk as a MILITARY CONVOY rumbles down the streets.
Locals watch from their homes, confused.
SNAPPER
The peaceful Happy Harbor shuddered
today with the arrival of this
military convoy earlier today.
Apparently they are heading to the
old military base on the mountain,
which has been inoperable since the
1950s. But what is really going on?
Why all this mobilization?

EXT. SANCTUARY - HAPPY HARBOR - DAWN

A series of TENTS have been erected on the beach around the


mountain. Military vehicles scattered everywhere.

INT. MEETING ROOM - SANCTUARY - DAWN


Inside is a typical 50s military base that has not been used
since. In the main room there is a huge round table where an
AIR FORCE SQUAD are assembled.
All them listen to their leader, who stands before a mural
with satellite IMAGERY of that sinister black cloud on the
Atlantic.
SQUAD LEADER
This is our target, gentlemen.
Let's just on a reconnaissance
mission. Only attack if we get
attacked first.

One of the pilots raises his hand.


PILOT #1
Sir, with all due respect... it's a
cloud in the middle of the sea. The
only way to attack us would be in
the wind.

SQUAD LEADER
I completely agree, soldier. But
the Pentagon informed me that this
is not an ordinary storm. They
think it may have something there.

PILOT #2
What do you mean "something"? What
could it be?

SQUAD LEADER
It is what we will find out. Any
more questions?

Silence.

EXT. TARMAC - SANCTUARY - DAWN

A row of F-35 RAPTORS, just waiting for their pilots. The


squad rushes in their pilot outfits, and start to climb in
their respective jets.

Under the first sunlight, the fighter jets streak over the
calm waters of the Atlantic.

SQUAD LEADER (V.O.)


Okay, gentlemen, let's see what
that cloud has to offer.

EXT. CLIFFS - DAY

The heroes are gathered in a moment of rest -- except Green


Lantern. Flash sits, eating FIFTEEN HAMBURGERS as if he has
not eaten for days.

The others just watch that. Moments later, Green Lantern


comes from the skies.
GREEN LANTERN
Good news. We were not followed.

Where did you get that?

THE FLASH
I found a diner 240 miles from
here. Fast metabolism.

J'onn stares at the horizon quietly, as if he could see the


enemy from that distance.

J'ONN
Starro is on his way. And he's
hungry. Our time gets shorter by
the second we stay here.

THE FLASH
Wait -- we can not simply go face
this thing, do you still remember
that Waller threatened to blow up
Central City? We need to do
something about that.

SUPERMAN
Do not worry, Flash, Waller now
knows about the threat of Starro as
much as we do. She will be very
busy.
WONDER WOMAN
In my desire to save the innocent
lives of this world, I almost took
another innocent life without
purpose.

J’ONN MORPHS. His Martian form shapes itself into a more


HUMANOID FORM, still green-skinned, but wearing a BLUE CLOAK
AND BOOTS.

In the end, it takes the form of the classic MARTIAN


MANHUNTER that we know. The others smile at him.

SUPERMAN
All right, let's go.
Superman TAKES OFF. The others go after him -- Green Lantern
carries Flash, the only one unable to fly, inside an energy
bubble.

EXT. HAPPY HARBOR MAIN STREET - DAY

A MILITARY CONVOY rumbles down the street. Several trucks


with boxes of ammunition and weaponry. Humvees with soldiers
manning the .50. HELICOPTERS soar overhead.

LOCALS on the sidewalks watch that commotion without


understanding what’s going on. The convoy makes its way
towards a TOWERING MOUNTAIN on the edge of the city.

EXT. TARMAC - SANCTUARY - DAY

Soldiers move here and there. TANKS are positioned in


strategic spots. General Eiling strolls around the base
alongside an AIDE.

EILING
No contact yet?
AIDE
No, sir. We lost contact with the
squad twenty minutes ago.

EILING
My God. Stay sharp, I want to be
informed about anything. What about
the ships?

AIDE
The fleet is already positioned in
the ocean, just waiting for the
word.
EILING
Good. If the flyboys don’t report
in fifteen, send the ships engage.
AIDE
Yes, sir.

SOLDIER (O.S.)
Stay where you are!

Eiling whirls to where the shout came to find AQUAMAN,


walking across the tarmac with hands raised in a sign of
peace. He’s still wet from the water.

But the soldiers don’t interpret it that way. They swarm the
King of Atlantis with rifles aimed at him.

AQUAMAN
I have not come to fight. I came to
warn you of an incoming danger.
104.

Without thinking twice, Eiling draws his PISTOL and takes


aim.
EILING
Don't move, you bastard!
AQUAMAN
Please listen to me, I must warn
your government of the threat is
coming!
EILING
Threat? You are the threat! Get on
your knees, now!
AQUAMAN
I do not kneel before anyone. If
you do not want to tell your
government, at least call Superman
here.
EILING
You are in no position to demand,
monster.
Aquaman realizes that there is no choice. His hand slowly
slides to his TRIDENT on the back.

AQUAMAN
I tried to be civilized.

Tension increases. Eiling and his men are about to shoot


Aquaman, but he’s also ready to fight back anytime.
But AT THIS MOMENT --

-- a familiar WHISTLE sounds in the air.


SOLDIER
Oh, my God -- look!
Aquaman and Eiling turn their heads to A FIGHTER JET coming
toward the base, descending fast. A BLACK SMOKE BILLOWS from
its engine.
The soldiers SCATTER as the jet SLAMS INTO THE GROUND,
skidding across the tarmac to a stop.
Everyone rushes the plane, including Aquaman. Inside, the
pilot resides unconscious.

Aquaman JUMPS to atop the jet in one superhuman bound, then


he BREAKS OPEN the cockpit canopy with his bare hands.
105.

That’s when he realizes the pilot has a STARRO’S SPORE


attached to his face. Aquaman frowns, confused. The pilot is
motionless in his seat, apparently dead.

EILING
Is he alive?

Before Aquaman could help the pilot, the spore’s single eye
SNAPS OPEN and turns to Aquaman. It PROPELS ITSELF OFF THE
MAN’S FACE TOWARD AQUAMAN’S... but he DODGES it just in time.

The spore sails through the air and lands onto a SOLDIER’S
FACE, WRAPPING ITS LIMBS AROUND HIS HEAD.
The soldier CRIES OUT IN AGONY. He WRITHES hard as the others
around share confused looks.
EILING (CONT'D)
What the heck is that thing?!
Still holding his rifle, the poor soldier TIGHTENS the
trigger, randomly FIRING at everyone around.

Aquaman quickly jumps to the ground SHIELDING Eiling from the


shots with his own body.

Aquaman pulls his trident and ADVANCES toward the soldier. He


knocks the rifle out of the man’s hand and SLICES THE SPORE
IN HALF in a swing of his trident.

The soldier COLLAPSES, groggy. Eiling approaches, totally


perplexed.
EILING (CONT'D)
What happened here?
AQUAMAN
It was what I was trying to warn
you. Your soldier is still
breathing, you better call the
medic soon.

EILING
(to the soldiers)
Take him to the infirmary.

Two other soldiers haul the unconscious soldier and take him
away. Eiling turns to Aquaman.

EILING (CONT'D)
Whatever is coming, we will explode
it into pieces, with or without
your help.
106.

SUPERMAN (O.S.)
I’m sorry to say that it won’t
work, General.
Eiling and Aquaman turn to where the voice came to find...
Superman, Wonder Woman, J’onn and Green Lantern descending
from the skies -- with Flash inside the green bubble.
Urgently, the soldiers nearby point their weapons at the
heroes, just waiting for the general’s order.

Superman takes a step forward.


SUPERMAN (CONT'D)
Like Aquaman, we came here to help.
All life on Earth is in danger now.
If we keep fighting among
ourselves, that thing will win.
BEAT as Eiling considers. Then, he SIGNALS for his men to
lower weapons.

EILING
So you better have some plan in
mind, boy scout.

SUPERMAN
First, I want you to remove the
entire fleet of ships at sea. They
will just be more hostesses.
EILING
It will not be easy, I need time.

SUPERMAN
We’ll buy you some time.

Superman turns to the others.


SUPERMAN (CONT'D)
Aquaman, Flash: get everyone on the
ships out. The other, come with me.
Let’s save the rest of the pilots.

THE FLASH
All right.
Flash takes a deep breath and -- FWOOSH! HE BOLTS OFF,
RUNNING OVER THE WATER SURFACE.
Superman, Wonder Woman, J’onn and Green Lantern take flight
toward the dark cloud. Aquaman turns to Eiling.
107.

AQUAMAN
Contact your men on ships and send
them to climb the whales when they
arrive.

EILING
Whales?
Aquaman dives into the sea.

EXT. DECK - BATTLESHIP - DAY

On one of the ships, the crew cannot take their eyes off the
sky. The black cloud looms above their heads.

MARINE #1
This is not a storm.
MARINE #2
What is that?
THEIR POV: high above, the Marines see something very small
falling from the black cloud. It’s a SPORE. In fact,
THOUSANDS OF THEM -- coming toward the ship.

EXT. SKIES ABOVE ATLANTIC OCEAN - DAY

Meanwhile, Superman, Wonder Woman, J’onn and Green Lantern


fly into the DARK CLOUD. J’onn grabs his head, as if he felt
a headache.

WONDER WOMAN
You okay?

J'ONN
Yes. It’s close. Very close.

They continue to move further and further into the black


cloud. Getting to the core of the problem they finally come
across STARRO himself.

The black smoke is expelled from its limbs, creating that


dense cloud around it. Starro moves a few miles above the sea
at a constant speed.

Our heroes stop in mid-air, staring at that thing PERPLEXED.


Starro’s huge EYE turns up, realizing them.
WONDER WOMAN
Great Hera.
108.

GREEN LANTERN
Okay, let’s slice that thing and
spread each piece across the
galaxy.

Green Lantern’s ring GLOWS. When he is about to go on the


attack, Superman grabs his arm.

GREEN LANTERN (CONT'D)
What?

SUPERMAN
Starro is not the only problem now.
Superman stares at something ahead within the cloud. Green
Lantern and the others follow his gaze as THE FIGHTER JETS
SQUAD emerges through the smoke swarmed by hundreds of
spores.

However, all pilots have a spore attached to their faces,


being completely controlled by Starro now.
The jets OPEN FIRE at the heroes with their MACHINE GUNS.
Green Lantern projects an ENERGY WALL to protect his
comrades.
GREEN LANTERN
Change of plans.
SUPERMAN
J’onn, create a telepathic link.
First we have to save the pilots
from those starfishes.

Superman and the others SPREAD OUT around the sky. The jets
do the same with the spore swarm, chasing the heroes.
ON WONDER WOMAN

She’s AVOIDING the MACHINE GUN ROUNDS from the jet right
behind her. At the same time, spores try to attack her from
all sides.

Wonder Woman SWATS every spore away with her fists. She grabs
another with one hand and CRUSHES it.

RATRATRAT! Wonder Woman is hit in the back by the machine gun


shots from the jet. She then LOOPS above the plane...
... and LANDS on top of the cockpit. Wonder Woman passes her
arm through the hole in the glass and tries to pull the spore
out of the pilot’s face.
109.

The little creature is so caught in the pilot’s face that


it’s almost impossible to remove it. Wonder Woman doesn’t
give up and pulls harder.

But, she notices some BLOOD running down the pilot’s face as
she pulls. Wonder Woman stops, fearing to hurt the man.

WONDER WOMAN (V.O.)


We cannot pull the starfishes from
their faces.

ON J'ONN
He ZIGZAGS through the air, dodging the spores and firing his
EYE LASERS at them.
WONDER WOMAN (V.O.) (CONT'D)
We have to find a way that does not
tear their skin along.
J'ONN (V.O.)
Let's try to cut them out instead
of pulling.
ON GREEN LANTERN

He uses a FLAME-THROWER -- created by his ring -- to BURN THE


SPORES INTO ASHES.

GREEN LANTERN (V.O.)


All right, this can work.
Green Lantern spots a fighter jet not too far and heads
toward it, burning the spores on his way.
He lands on top of the jet cockpit. The starfish on the
pilot’s face looks at him. Green Lantern fires a THIN LASER
BEAM from his ring at the spore, cutting it almost
surgically.

INT. FIGHTER JET COCKPIT - DAY


At that moment, in another jet, the spore seems to feel that
the other is in danger.

The pilot YANKS the controls, turning the jet into another
route.

EXT. SKIES ABOVE ATLANTIC OCEAN - DAY

Green Lantern continues to cut the spore slowly, trying hard


not to hit the pilot instead.
110.

He doesn’t notice the other jet coming towards him. It fires


a MISSILE.

ON J'ONN

As he notices the missile streaking toward GL.


J'ONN (V.O.)
Green Lantern, look out!

ON GREEN LANTERN
When he finally realizes the missile, it’s very close. Still
on top of the jet, he tries to project a BIG SHIELD to block
the projectile.
But the missile HITS THE CONSTRUCT before it is fully formed,
BLOWING GREEN LANTERN OFF THE JET.
He DROPS, spinning wildly through the air. That’s when
Superman CATCHES Green Lantern’s wrist in mid-flight, saving
him.
SUPERMAN
Hold on.

Superman carries Green Lantern by the wrist as a WAVE OF


SPORES chases them through the skies.

GREEN LANTERN
On my signal, you stop.
(off Superman's look)
Trust me.
The spores are getting closer to the two heroes. They are
fast and move as a unit.

GREEN LANTERN (CONT'D)
Now!

Superman sudden halts in mid-air. At same time, Green Lantern


conjures a HUGE WALL OF THORNS in front of himself.
That wave of spores are too fast to stop, and they end up
colliding into the wall, being PIERCED and IMPALED by the
thorns.

ON WONDER WOMAN
Her body is full of spores that stick everywhere, except her
face. She rips some of them out, but more of them get to her.

Wonder Woman then ROTATES her body around its lengthwise axis
at top speed, repelling all the spores on her to far away.
111.

Behind her, a fighter jet fires a missile. Diana sees it


coming and waits.
When it looks like the missile will hit her, Wonder Woman
DUCKS and WRAPS her lasso around it.
She SWINGS the missile away, throwing it toward a cluster of
spores -- and BOOM! It EXPLODES, obliterating the starfishes
nearby.
After that, Superman, Green Lantern and J’onn join her.

J'ONN
We have to go back and think of a
better plan.

SUPERMAN
We cannot let those pilots continue
to be controlled by that monster.

J'ONN
I know, but now we are out of
numbers here. We won’t be able to
do anything that way.
WONDER WOMAN
J'onn's right.

Green Lantern glances at Starro and gets an idea.


GREEN LANTERN
You said that Starro has a
telepathic link with all the
spores, right? So we just bring the
mother down, and we’re done with
all the puppies.
Green Lantern turns around and TAKES OFF toward Starro.

SUPERMAN
Lantern, wait!
Superman, Wonder Woman and J’onn go after him.

The Emerald Hero fights his way toward the giant starfish. As
he approaches Starro, more spores appear around him.

A few meters behind, Superman, Wonder Woman and J’onn try to


prevent the spores from reaching their faces.

When he’s close enough, Green Lantern hangs in the air and
materializes a HIGH-TECH PROTON CANNON on his shoulder.
112.

He aims at Starro and FIRES A MASSIVE ENERGY BLAST. But


HUNDREDS OF SPORES start to GATHER quickly around Starro,
forming an almost insurmountable BARRIER.

The energy blast HITS THE SPORES BARRIER WITH A BIG


EXPLOSION, lifting a cloud of smoke.

As the smoke settles, Starro is revealed to be INTACT. Green


Lantern stares, incredulous. He doesn’t notice a spore
sailing toward his head.

Seconds before the spore could reach its target, Superman


PUSHES Green Lantern out of the way, causing the spore to
attach on SUPERMAN’S FACE instead.

WONDER WOMAN
Superman!
Superman writhes in agony, fighting Starro’s mental
dominance.
WONDER WOMAN (CONT'D)
We have to help him.
But J'onn stops her.

J'ONN
It's too late.
Superman calms down, hovering in the air. He is no longer
resisting as he has been completely dominated by Starro now.
J’onn turns and flies off. Without many choices, Wonder Woman
and Green Lantern go with him.

EXT. ATLANTIC OCEAN - DAY

Flash WHOOSHES INTO FRAME in super speed, running on the


water surface, heading toward a BATTLESHIP.

EXT. DECK - BATTLESHIP - DAY


DESPERATE MARINES fire with their rifles at Starro’s spores
that rain on that ship.
The little starfishes pop like balloons when hit.

Flash appears on the deck in a blow of wind, STARTLING some


soldiers, who aim at him.
THE FLASH
Easy, easy. I came to get you out.
113.

A Marine is caught by one of the spores. He squirms for a few


seconds and then stops, dominated by Starro now. He turns and
FIRES at his brothers on the ship.
THE FLASH (CONT'D)
GET DOWN!

SLOW-MO: The bullets explode from the barrel of the rifle.


Flash runs after them -- catching up to them -- then, runs
rings around the bullets, WHIRLING, until --

PLINK! PLINK! PLINK! The bullets drop to the floor. In the


next second, Flash PUNCHES the possessed Marine in the face,
knocking him down.

But more spores keep coming. Flash ROTATES his arms upwards
at super speed, generating a GUST that pushes the spores in
the air far away, buying him some time.
Flash goes to two Marines and grabs them around the waist.

THE FLASH (CONT'D)
Hold on.
And -- WHOOSH, they’re gone.

EXT. TARMAC - SANCTUARY - DAY

Flash appears on the tarmac with the two Marines. They fall
to the ground, dizzy. WHOOSH, Flash is gone. WHOOSH, he’s
back with TWO MORE MARINES.

In a matter of seconds, Flash disappears. Then he returns


with more Marines.
Meanwhile, on the beach, WHALES come close to the shore with
GROUPS OF MARINES on top of them. The men jump into the water
and swim to land.

EXT. VARIOUS BATTLESHIPS - CONTINUOUS


Flash comes and goes like a CRIMSON BOLT, taking several
soldiers from several ships in an instant -- and dodging the
spores that try to catch him.

EXT. DECK - BATTLESHIP - DAY


Flash gets on board of another ship. Few soldiers left there.

THE FLASH
Time to go.
114.

He doesn’t notice a spore coming from behind, about to catch


him. AT THAT MOMENT --
-- AQUAMAN BURST OUT THE WATER ON TOP OF A SHARK!

He JUMPS from the shark, wielding his trident, and CHOPS the
spore in mid-air, saving Flash. Aquaman lands on the deck,
surprising the Marines nearby.

THE FLASH (CONT'D)
T-Thanks.
Aquaman nods to Flash and turns to the Marines.

AQUAMAN
All of you: jump on the whale now.
It will take you to the coast.
The soldiers go to the edge of the deck and see a whale
waiting by the ship. They start down the stairs.

Aquaman looks up and notices another WAVE OF SPORES coming


for them.

AQUAMAN (CONT'D)
Speedster, we still have a problem
to solve.

Flash realizes that the soldiers are still going to the


whale, exposed to the spores. He BOLTS INTO THE SHIP... and
returns in a blink of an eye wielding an AXE.

THE FLASH
Let’s keep them busy.

Countless spores shower on the ship as Flash and Aquaman SLAY


them with their respective weapons, keeping soldiers safe
until everyone is on top of the whale.

EXT. TARMAC - SANCTUARY - DAY


All Marines rescued from ships are taken to hangars. Moments
later, Wonder Woman, J’onn and Green Lantern land there.
Eiling immediately approaches.
EILING
How bad is the situation? And where
the hell is Superman?
J'ONN
He was taken.
115.

EILING
What? Are you saying that Superman
is now on the other side?

J'ONN
Until we put an end to Starro’s
mind control, yes.

GREEN LANTERN
It was my fault. If I had...

WONDER WOMAN
It is not time to mourn the past
now. We cannot go there again
without an attack plan, otherwise
we will give more fighters to
Starro’s army.
EILING
In other words, we’re doomed.
CUT TO:

CAMERA POV: SNAPPER CARR is on a PIER reporting to the


camera. On the horizon, Starro’s black cloud looms closer and
closer to the coast.

SNAPPER CARR
This morning a military convoy
arrived at the former Happy Harbor
military base. None of the soldiers
wanted to give us official
information about what is
happening. That black cloud from
the sea is believed to be the cause
of all this. But so far, nothing--
SUDDENLY --

-- A GRIEVOUS SHRIEK makes Snapper break off. He grabs his


head, as if the noise penetrated his mind and not his ears.

STARRO (V.O.)
Humans...

EXT. TARMAC - SANCTUARY - DAY


Our heroes and everyone at the base also hears the same
thing. Soldiers immediately stop what they were doing.

EXT. HAPPY HARBOR - DAY


Happy Harbor residents feel the same shriek at the same time.
It’s Starro’s TELEPATHIC VOICE speaking directly into their
minds.
STARRO (V.O.)
You took advantage of this land for
the last time. I see you are
weak... small...

EXT. SKY - DAY

A CADMUS HELICOPTER tears through the cloudy sky.

INT. CADMUS HELICOPTER - DAY

Flying the chopper is Amanda Waller. She GRIMACES as Starro’s


voice sounds in her mind.

STARRO (V.O.)
I can give all of you a real
purpose. A chance to serve a unique
and present lord.

EXT. GOTHAM CITY - DAY

Everyone in the city listens to Starro. Cars crash into the


back of others because drivers cannot concentrate.

STARRO (V.O.)
Domination is part of your ultimate
destiny. And when it arrives...

INT. BATCAVE - DAY


Bruce Wayne is sitting in the chair at the central console of
the cave, clutching his head in pain. Clenched teeth.
STARRO (V.O.)
... there will be only one. There
will only be... Starro.

EXT. TARMAC - SANCTUARY - DAY

The Cadmus helicopter touches down on the tarmac. Waller


steps out it and paces toward Eiling and the three heroes,
really pissed.

WALLER
It’s good that one of you has some
good news about this situation.
That’s when Flash arrives at the base in a swirl of dust
carrying Aquaman with him.

THE FLASH
You also heard that bizarre voice
in your heads, right?
(realizes Waller)
Oh, it's her.

EILING
The thing keeps moving forward. Our
air squadron was subdued. And we’re
running out of options now.

GREEN LANTERN
And now Superman is also under
Starro’s mental domain.

WALLER
Are you saying that the most
powerful man on this planet now
takes orders from an alien creature
that wants to dominate us?

A silence from Green Lantern.


WALLER (CONT'D)
(to J'onn)
And you. If you can get into the
mind of that thing, can’t you find
any weakness?

J'ONN
I’ve already tried. It doesn’t let
me go deep enough, it’s more
powerful than that.

WALLER
How long do we have until it
reaches us?

WONDER WOMAN
The creature is slow due to its
size. We may have at most two days
until it reaches dry land.
Waller takes some steps forward, staring at the dark cloud in
the distance.

WALLER
God help us now.

INT. BATCAVE - DAY


Bruce watches various news from around the world on his
monitors about the voice that sounded in people’s minds.

REPORTER
(on screen)
The mysterious voice heard by
everyone seems to have no origin.
Several people were following their
lives normally and...

On another screen, a MAN is being interviewed on the street.


MAN
(on screen)
-- I don’t know, it seemed to be
echoing inside my head. It was very
weird.

A hysterical LADY speaks on another screen.


LADY
(on screen)
I am telling you, it is a sign from
God -- He will pour his will over
us!

Bruce stares at the monitors, his mind churning. Thinking


about what he can do in the face of it all. Then, Alfred
hurries behind Bruce, worried.

ALFRED
Master Bruce -- did you hear it
too?

WAYNE
It wasn’t just us, Alfred, but the
whole world, apparently.

ALFRED
Do you know what’s going on?

TIGHT ON BRUCE, almost oblivious to the world. It’s like we


can see the gears of his mind working there.

After a short beat, an idea seems to light up in Bruce’s


mind. He gets up and collects his utility belt.

WAYNE
I need to go. Maybe we still have a
chance.

Confused, Alfred just watches as Bruce walks down the stairs.


PRE-LAP: the sound of JET ENGINES ENGAGING.

EXT. GOTHAM CITY SKYLINE - NIGHTFALL

THE BATPLANE streaks across the sky banking into the horizon,
vanishing from our view.

EXT. SANCTUARY - HAPPY HARBOR - NIGHT


Establishing.

INT. MEETING ROOM - SANCTUARY - NIGHT

Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern and J'onn are reunited


with Waller and Eiling and other OFFICIALS. Everyone
discusses how to solve the great problem.

There is a huge MAP of the United States spread across the


round table, and a RED CIRCLE marking where Starro is now --
a few miles from the mainland.

GREEN LANTERN
I can try to create big boats with
my ring to take people from coastal
cities to another safer place and
give us a little more time.
EILING
There are many cities in a short
time. We have to try a nuclear
attack. That thing cannot survive
this.

THE FLASH
You don't know that. Besides, the
radiation can reach cities and
everything will have been in vain.
EILING
Without Superman, a nuclear warhead
is our greatest weapon that we can
use. And from what you've said
about the creature's size, bullets
won't even tickle it.

WONDER WOMAN
No one is going to sacrifice any
city for a plan that we don't even
know will work.
EILING
You claim to be a warrior, but
apparently do not understand that
in a war there will always be
sacrifices.

WONDER WOMAN
You were supposed to protect your
people, but you don't seem to mind
sacrificing their lives when you're
desperate.
Eiling swallows dry.

WALLER
So you guys better have something
in mind soon, or this will be our
only alternative.
J'ONN
What if we could detonate the
warhead inside Starro? The
collateral damage would be reduced.

AQUAMAN
That thing stayed thousands of
years in the depths of the planet
and returned to the surface in one
piece. It will not be easy to
penetrate that body.
THE FLASH
It's still risky. If Starro manages
to dominate the one with the bomb,
it can use it against us. And then
it will be the end.
In that moment, a SOLDIER sounds over Waller’s communicator.

SOLDIER (V.O.)
Ma’am, I think you should come out
here.

EXT. COMPOUND - SANCTUARY - NIGHT


Waller, Eiling and our heroes leave the great mountain and
join a bunch of soldiers aiming for something beyond the
camera.

REVERSE ANGLE REVEALS --

Batman, standing next to his landed BATPLANE. He’s surrounded


by armed soldiers in all directions.

Waller takes a step forward.


WALLER
What are you doing here?

BATMAN
Trying to help. But first, you have
to listen to him.

Batman points to RAY PALMER, inside the Batplane. The others


stare, confused.

INT. MEETING ROOM - SANCTUARY - MOMENTS LATER

Ray places his SHRINKING DEVICE on the central table.


Everyone is back in the room, watching him.
THE FLASH
So, this is the device you used in
your research.
Ray looks at Flash, surprised.

THE FLASH (CONT'D)
I’m a big fan of your work. I read
everything you published about mass
reduction.
RAY
Thanks. It's not every day that I
hear this from a... superhero.
WALLER
Okay, how will this machine save
the world?
RAY
Well, during the development of my
research, the biggest obstacle was
to solve the problem of cell mass
instability in the reduction.

Ray takes a PEN out of his pocket and puts it on the device's
platform.

RAY (CONT'D)
And that was always what happened.

He TURNS ON the device. The pen is bathed by a BLUISH LIGHT


from its lens for a few seconds. Then, the light goes out.
Everyone waits for some reaction. The pen starts to VIBRATE
and POP into particles.
GREEN LANTERN
All right, I got it. But Starro is
not like a pen, we are talking
about kilometers to cover.
RAY
All we need is to hit the creature
in several places at the same time
and the reaction will be unified.

WONDER WOMAN
We have no crew for this.

BATMAN
No, but we have someone fast enough
to be in several places at the same
time.

All eyes turn to Flash.


WONDER WOMAN
Can you do this?
Flash rights himself.

THE FLASH
I just need a chance.
J'ONN
We will need to adapt the device so
that Flash can carry it without
problems.

WALLER
So I think you guys have a lot of
work to do.

BEGIN MONTAGE:
Throughout the night we see Batman, J'onn, Flash and Ray
working on the device. Great minds working together. They
DISMANTLE the machine and start reassembling it in a new
shape, making it a little more PORTABLE.

END MONTAGE.

EXT. TARMAC - SANCTUARY - DAY


The next day. Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, Green
Lantern and Flash stand one next to the other facing the
great evil beyond the sea.
Ray makes the final adjustments to his device that is now on
Flash's back, hanging like a high-tech BACKPACK.
RAY
Once you're on the creature's
surface, push the belt buckle that
will activate the shrinking ray.

THE FLASH
Understood.
J'onn approaches.

J'ONN
Ready?

THE FLASH
Well... it's the first time I'll
help to save the world, so... yeah,
I can get used to.

The Martian smiles. Wonder Woman takes a step forward from


the others.

WONDER WOMAN
So, this is it. The enemy will get
here anyway, so we'll be the front
line to keep him here, away from
civilians.
(beat)
Green Lantern, J'onn. I want you
airborne, those pilots still need
help. Aquaman and I will keep the
fight on the ground. We will save
as much time as possible for Flash.

GREEN LANTERN
The princess seems to be becoming
queen.

J'ONN
Creating a mental link now.

WONDER WOMAN
(to Flash)

Flash gives her a nod. He takes on an Olympic runner position


on the tarmac.

CLOSE ON FLASH'S EYES: YELLOW SPARKS in his pupils. A


determined look.

THEN --
-- FWOOSH! FLASH ZIPS AWAY IN A BLUR OF SPEED.

EXT. ATLANTIC OCEAN - DAY

Our Scarlet Speedster RACES across the water surface toward


the black cloud.

EXT. BLACK CLOUDS - DAY


The clouds fill the screen, swirling. It’s impossible to see
anything beyond.

SUPERMAN emerges through the smoke curtain, still with that


Starro's spore on his face. Behind him, the FIGHTER JETS
SQUAD follows with HUNDREDS OF SPORES.

The Man of Steel leads them toward the coast.

EXT. TARMAC - SANCTUARY - DAY


Soldiers mobilize with their rifles in hands. TANKS aim their
cannon turrets to the skies. General Eiling coordinates them
all.
EILING
Don't let those damn starfish touch
your faces!
WONDER WOMAN
Incoming!
Green Lantern and J'onn TAKE OFF. Aquaman grips his trident.
The wave of spores fills the air like a swarm of bees.

ANGLE ON: BATMAN, on top of his plane. He draws from his belt
TWO LAMINATED BATARANGS and readies for the combat.

INT. MEETING ROOM - SANCTUARY - DAY

Waller, Ray and a bunch of other officials watch the


situation outside through some monitors. Everyone worried.
125.

EXT. TARMAC - SANCTUARY - DAY

The base now becomes a WAR ZONE. Eiling and his men BLAST
their guns at the spores as they descend towards them.

Several spores fall on the tarmac with BULLET HOLES, oozing


dark GREEN BLOOD.

Aquaman SHREDS the spores with his golden trident. He wields


it masterfully, preventing any starfish from reaching his
face.

Not far from him, Wonder Woman uses her bare hands to crush
and destroy the spores, rendering them into severed pieces.
Elsewhere, Batman uses his sharp batarangs with incredible
skill, while also DODGING spores with his acrobatics.

EXT. SKIES ABOVE SANCTUARY - DAY

J'onn FIRES his EYE LASERS to VAPORIZE the spores. Green


Lantern projects from his ring HUGE PROPELLERS that SLICE the
starfishes into little pieces.

The military jets enter the battle as well. J'onn tries to


outwit one of them around the sky.

J'ONN (V.O.)
Lantern, we will have to get the
pilots out of the cockpits in order
to save them.
A jet CHASES Green Lantern through the air. The Emerald Hero
BANKS hard to above the plane -- he then shoots a LIGHT BEAM
that ENVELOPS the pilot inside the cockpit.
Green Lantern pulls the pilot out of the cockpit within that
beam. Without its pilot, the plane falls and CRASHES into the
forest at the base of the mountain.

EXT. TARMAC - SANCTUARY - DAY

The tanks FIRE in unison. Their projectiles EXPLODE in the


air, OBLITERATING several spores at once.

ANGLE ON: SUPERMAN, flying above the base. He realizes that


tanks are a big problem and DIVES towards them like a bullet.

KA-BLAM! Superman LANDS MIGHTILY on top of a tank, almost


folding the vehicle in half.
126.

He DASHES toward another tank and SHOULDER-BUMPS it, FLIPPING


IT ASIDE.

SUDDENLY: BOOM! AN EXPLOSION IN SUPERMAN'S BACK launches him


across the tarmac, SKIDDING.
Superman stops and turns to a third tank, taking aim at him
again. Superman ROCKETS toward the tank as it FIRES.
The Man of Steel DODGES the round. The tank fires again, but
Superman dodges that too as he advances. Superman GRABS the
cannon turret and RIPS IT OUT with his hands.
As he tosses the turret away, Superman LIFTS the tank above
his head and SLAMS it on the ground, UPSIDE DOWN.

INT. OVERTURNED TANK - DAY

A STUNNED TANK PILOT lies on the roof of the now overturned


tank. A little blood drips from his forehead.
The Tank Pilot STARTLES as powerful HANDS TEAR A HOLE in the
tank bodywork as if it were paper. It's Superman.
The poor man looks at his end in that threatening figure with
one eye, standing looking at him.
As Superman stretches out his arm to grab the pilot inside
the tank...

... A BLUR OF RED AND GOLD TACKLES HIM AWAY.

EXT. TARMAC - SANCTUARY - DAY


Wonder Woman and Superman ROLL on the ground until they
finally stop meters away from that tank, with her on top of
him.
The Amazon GRABS the spore in his face and tries to pull it
away with all her strength.

WONDER WOMAN
You have to break free from that
control!
But Superman is quick and PUNCHES her in the face, sending
her away.

Both of them get up and stare at each other for a moment.


That's when Superman SPEAKS, but it's like his and Starro's
voice mixed.
127.

SUPERMAN/STARRO
Freedom will be a concept that your
people will forget that ever
existed when I am with them.
WONDER WOMAN
Do not think that we will give in
without a fight.
Wonder Woman raises her clenched fists, yearning for the
combat. Superman then takes off at top speed, prepared to
finish her.

EXT. ATLANTIC OCEAN - DAY


The Flash makes his way across the ocean.

As he deepens into the dark cloud, the waters become more and
more wild. CHURNING like in a storm. He does his best to
avoid the huge waves around.

Finally, Flash is faced with Starro. But the creature FLOATS


a few feet above the ocean, making it impossible for Flash to
climb on it.

Flash contacts others via telepathic link.


THE FLASH (V.O.)
Guys, I found it. But maybe we have
a problem.
GREEN LANTERN (V.O.)
What?
THE FLASH (V.O.)
It's way above me, and I don't know
how to fly.
GREEN LANTERN (V.O.)
Okay -- Hold on, I'm going there to
help you.
THE FLASH (V.O.)
No, you have a job to do there now.
We can't risk it.
GREEN LANTERN (V.O.)
So what do you plan to do?
THE FLASH (V.O.)
Improvise.
128.

ANGLE ON: STARRO, as several spores expel from SMALL FISSURES


on its body, falling toward Flash.
The Speedster realizes the starfishes coming for him.

Flash BOLTS off, evading the spores as they try to catch him,
but hitting the water instead.

EXT. TARMAC - SANCTUARY - DAY


Soldiers shoot at the hundreds of targets around them, almost
desperate.

But one of them is caught by a spore. The man SQUIRMS in


agony for a few seconds and pulls himself together, now
controlled by Starro.

The dominated soldier starts to FIRE at his comrades. Men are


SHOT DOWN. Others fall to the ground, wounded.

ON AQUAMAN
As he realizes the possessed soldier killing the others.
Aquaman rushes him.
The King of Atlantis HURLS his trident into the dominated
soldier’s GUN, SHATTERING it.

Aquaman JUMPS above the soldier, landing behind him and next
to his fallen trident. As the soldier turns around to the
hero...

... Aquaman grabs his trident and SLASHES THE SPORE IN HALF
in one swing. The soldier collapses, stunned.

ON BATMAN
Slicing the spores alongside a group of soldiers.

The soldiers drop their empty rifles and take out their
PISTOLS. But Batman knows that they won't stand a chance.

BATMAN
To the hangar! Now!
Soldiers run towards a hangar to protect themselves from a
wave of spores. Batman goes with them.
As the military manages to enter the hangar, Batman closes
the gate from the outside. Then he runs away, attracting
spores to himself.
129.

Batman SLIDES under a Humvee -- at the same time that he


sticks a BOMB beneath it -- and gets out the other side of
the car.

He tries to get as far away from the vehicle as possible when


-- BOOM! The bomb DETONATES. The Humvee explodes into a
FIREBALL, ENGULFING SEVERAL SPORES IN THE FIRE at once.

ON WONDER WOMAN AND SUPERMAN


Both flying a few meters above the base as they trade blows
at CLOSE QUARTERS.

Superman joins his hands and WHACKS Wonder Woman hard towards
the ground...

... she skips across the tarmac like a stone tossed in the
lake. Superman flies low, inches of the ground, for her.

Wonder Woman climbs to her feet and realizes Superman coming.


She just waits... for the right moment.
Superman raises a fist, ready to strike -- but Wonder Woman
DUCKS him and GRASPS his CAPE. She SWINGS the Man of Steel,
taking advantage of his momentum, and SLAMS HIM DOWN.
Wonder Woman tries to KICK him, but Superman grabs her leg
and THROWS the Amazon into THE FRONT OF A JEEP, CRUMPLING ALL
THE WAY TO THE WINDSHIELD.
She lies amid twisted metal as Superman CHARGES at her.

Wonder Woman recomposes herself, notices Superman. She RIPS


THE JEEP WHEEL OUT and whips it like a discus toward him.

Superman is hit squarely in the face by the wheel, dropping


to the ground.

While Superman’s down, Wonder Woman LEAPS toward him to


deliver the ultimate attack. Superman SHIELDS himself with
his arms as the Amazon Princess HITS him with all her mighty.

THE IMPACT BLOWS A CRATER on the ground, spitting earth and


concrete upwards.

INT. FIGHTER JET COCKPIT - DAY


The pilot pursuits J’onn across the air, unloading his
artillery. But J’onn zigzags, escaping the shots.

The Martian takes distance from the jet, then U-turns toward
it. The jet FIRES, but J’onn becomes INTANGIBLE -- the
bullets just pass through him.
130.

J’onn PHASES THROUGH THE JET -- as he enters the cockpit, he


becomes TANGIBLE again and GRABS the pilot in the same
second, then both of them become INTANGIBLE AND PHASE
TOGETHER OUT OF THE JET.

EXT. SKIES ABOVE SANCTUARY - DAY

The plane PLUMMETS, adrift, and hits the ocean meters below.
J’onn looks at the pilot and fires his eye lasers at the
SPORE in his face, CUTTING IT.

The pilot is finally released from Starro's mind control and


passes out. J'onn descends with him safely.

EXT. ATLANTIC OCEAN - DAY

Flash keeps running over the surface of the ocean, dodging


the spores as he tries to find a way to reach Starro above.
He surveys his surroundings, considering all options.

Then, he realizes: the huge waves. Maybe he can use them


somehow. Even uncertain of this, Flash decides to risk.

Flash changes his route toward Starro, where the waves seem
to be more restless.
Closer to the creature it’s harder for Flash to maintain his
balance in the water, but he does his best there.
He studies the surrounding waves with his eyes -- it has to
be big enough for his plan to work.

Then, he spots it. A MASSIVE WAVE forming near Starro. Flash


BOOSTS himself toward the wave -- ELECTRICAL SPARKS coming
off his body.
FLASH CLIMBS THE WAVE TO ITS TOP -- and at the summit of the
wave he JUMPS UP at full speed, hurling himself toward
Starro.
Flash SAILS THROUGH THE AIR with his limbs DANGLING, not sure
if he will survive at the end of it.

BUT --

EXT. STARRO - CONTINUOUS


-- Flash LANDS on top of Starro, alive. As he touches his
feet on the monster, Flash TRIGGERS the shrinking device on
his back and races off again.
131.

The Speedster runs like he never has before. The device's


shrinking ray illuminates Starro's surface all the way.

EXT. TARMAC - SANCTUARY - DAY

General Eiling is behind a Humvee, using it as cover, as he


empties his ammo clip at the spores. A soldier in the Humvee
mans the .50.

But Eiling’s ammo runs out. He looses his rifle, grabs a


handgun and starts to fire.

Suddenly, a spore ATTACHES to the soldier on the .50. Eiling


aims at him, but HESITATES. He fears to kill the man and
leave the creature alive.

The dominated soldier pivots the machine gun toward Eiling,


about to fire.
EILING
Oh, boy.
AT THAT MOMENT --

-- A GRAPPLING HOOK comes out nowhere and WRAPS around


Eiling’s torso. Batman YANKS him out of the way as the
soldier blasts the .50 on the ground.

Batman helps Eiling to rise.


BATMAN
You have to make your men back off,
we're running out of resources.
Batman glances over Eiling’s shoulder and sees the dominated
soldier in the Humvee targets them.
BATMAN (CONT'D)
Look out!

The soldier unleashes a BARRAGE OF GUNFIRE at Batman and


Eiling. Both men run across the tarmac to escape.

ON AQUAMAN
Fighting the spores when he realizes Batman and Eiling in
danger. He spots an ARMY VEHICLE lying on its side and rushes
it.
Aquaman SHOVES the car with one FOOT, sending it SLIDING
across the ground toward Batman.

ON BATMAN AND EILING


132.

As the army vehicle stops sliding in front of them, shielding


both from the shots.
Batman turns his head to Aquaman. They nod to each other.
Thanks.

The bullets BATTER the car on the other side. Eiling knows
that it won't last long. Batman goes to the edge of the car
and peeks the shooter in the distance.
EILING
We can't stay here forever!

Batman draws from his belt a BATARANG -- and THROWS it toward


the shooter in the Humvee.

The batarang EMBEDS INTO THE SPORE’S EYE of the dominated


soldier. It BLEEDS. Batman sprints for the Humvee and climbs
the car to its top.

Batman collects his batarang stuck in the spore's eye and


uses it to cut its limbs and remove it from the man's face.

EXT. SKIES ABOVE SANCTUARY - DAY


Green Lantern flies below a fighter jet, following it. He
fires a GREEN LIGHT BEAM through the plane and takes the
pilot out inside a BUBBLE.
The jet BLOWS IN HALF and explodes in mid-air. The green
bubble TRANSFORMS INTO A TWIRLED SLIDE, which the pilot
slides down it to the ground.
GREEN LANTERN (V.O.)
J’onn, I think we caught all of
them.
But Green Lantern was wrong. There's still one more jet left,
which fires a MISSILE at him.
When GL realizes it, it’s too late. He’s HIT by the missile
and DROPS hard toward the base.

J’onn comes flying, PHASES through the jet and takes the
pilot out.

INT. HANGAR - SANCTUARY - DAY

Doctors and other non-combatant officers are hiding there,


just listening to the sound of the battle outside.
133.

SUDDENLY -- GREEN LANTERN CRASHES THROUGH THE SKYLIGHT and


hits the ground, barely conscious.

EXT. TARMAC - SANCTUARY - DAY


Superman HOLDS Wonder Woman’s throat, STRANGLING her. When it
seems to be the end for her...
... Aquaman comes from behind, using the trident as a LOCK
for his CHOKE HOLD. He drives Superman away as Wonder Woman
catches her breath.
Superman tries to pull him off but can’t. He HEADBUTTS
Aquaman with the back of his head, getting rid of his grip.

Then, the Man of Steel UPPERCUTS Aquaman so hard, he ARCHES


high through the air and drops onto a car, caving in its
roof.

The dominated Superman turns to Wonder Woman, ready for a


next assault. He TAKES OFF toward her at top speed.

Aquaman, lying sprawled on the car, realizes the situation


and decides to act.
AQUAMAN
(shouts)
Princess!

He THROWS HIS TRIDENT for Wonder Woman as Superman advances.


As Wonder Woman CATCHES Aquaman's weapon...
... SHE LOPS SUPERMAN’S SPORE OFF HIS FACE in mid-flight in a
swipe of the trident.
Superman falls to the ground, apparently unconscious. Wonder
Woman rapidly approaches beside him. Aquaman joins her
seconds later. They expect some sign of life from Superman,
but nothing happens.
Then --

-- Superman awakes with a DEEP BREATH of life. He sits up,


grabbing his head.

WONDER WOMAN
Thanks to the gods he is alive.

AQUAMAN
But is it still him?
134.

SUPERMAN
(dizzy)
What... where am I?

Superman takes a look at his surroundings and sees all the


chaos going on over there.

WONDER WOMAN
What is the last thing you
remember?

SUPERMAN
I could feel my body, but I
couldn't control it. My mind... it
was an endless whirlwind.
AQUAMAN
Starro is overwhelming our forces.
Flash’s doing our last offensive
right now. We need to give him more
time.

With a little effort, Superman gets to his feet again,


DEFIANT. Clenched fists.

SUPERMAN
So be it.
CUT TO:

THE BATTLE IS RAGING. Soldiers fight their own brothers, some


now controlled by Starro's spores.

Batman fights among them. He takes down the dominated


soldiers taking care not to seriously injure them.
When it seems that hope is over --

-- A BLUR OF RED AND BLUE STREAKS PAST above the battlefield.


Batman and the others look up, eyes grow WIDE and jaws drop.

SUPERMAN IS BACK!
He starts to FLY CIRCLES AT AN AMAZING SPEED, creating a
VORTEX in mid-air that sucks several spores around, taking
them away from the people.
As the spores are sucked into a TORNADO, Superman stops and
BLOWS HIS SUPER-BREATH UPWARDS, FREEZING THE LITTLE CREATURES
AT ONCE.
Wonder Woman appears, flying and SHATTERING the frozen
starfishes with her fists.
135.

The soldiers CHEER.

INT. MEETING ROOM - SANCTUARY - DAY

Seeing Superman back to action, Waller can not hold a slight


SMILE.

EXT. ATLANTIC OCEAN - DAY


WIDE ON: Starro's entire body is being covered by a LUMINOUS
LINE that courses across its massive body in a matter of
seconds.

EXT. STARRO - DAY

Flash is running. Sweat runs down his face in addition to the


apparent fatigue, but he knows he can't stop.

Then, Starro tries to interfere with his thoughts.


STARRO (V.O.)
I see your soul... your deepest
thoughts, human... you are
nothing... nothing.

Flash shakes his head, trying to ignore that voice.


STARRO (V.O.) (CONT'D)
I will shred your mind from the
inside out until there's no trace
of who you are.
A HIGH-PITCHED SHRIEK seems to penetrate Flash's mind. He
grabs his head and CRIES OUT in pain, losing his balance in
mid-race.

EXT. ATLANTIC OCEAN - DAY


Flash PLUMMETS from Starro and SPLASHES on the ocean.
Underwater, he unties the device from his back and manages to
swim back to the surface.
Flash looks up and sees Starro BLAZING in a BLUISH LIGHT.
Suddenly, all that luminosity WINKS OUT.
A beat. He waits.

THEN, STARRO BEGINS TO IMPLODE.


136.

It is SHRINKING, but one piece at a time, all over its body.


As if each part is being sucked into itself.
Flash just watches that scene, TRANSFIXED. Meanwhile, Starro
HOWLS IN AGONY -- a guttural sound.

EXT. TARMAC - SANCTUARY - DAY

Everyone at the base stops fighting when the spores in the


sky start to RAIN, falling to the ground motionless.

The spores of the dominated men also fall from the faces of
their hosts.
EILING
What's happening?
Aquaman approaches a spore on the ground and touches it with
the tip of his trident -- no reaction, it is DEAD. J’onn
descends from the skies.
J'ONN
It’s Flash -- he made it. But he
has no way of coming back here.
On the air, Superman hears that.

SUPERMAN
I'll get him back.

Superman flies off like a rocket toward the ocean.

EXT. ATLANTIC OCEAN - DAY

Floating on the water's surface, Flash sees Starro dying just


above him. It’s an incredible view.

But things get worse when Starro starts to fall into the
sea... towards Flash.

THE FLASH
Oh, no.
Flash swims as much as he can, but he's too weak to go too
far from the point of impact. He turns up and knows he will
be crushed there.
But at this moment --

-- Superman SWOOPS DOWN and catches Flash right in time,


carrying him away as Starro IMPACTS ON THE SEA.
137.

THE FLASH (CONT'D)
Superman! It’s really you!

SUPERMAN
(smiles)
Congratulations, Flash, you saved
the world.

THE FLASH
We did.

EXT. UNDERWATER - OCEAN - DAY


As Starro SINKS, its body keeps shrinking faster and faster,
and more abruptly.
Until finally -- the giant monster BLOWS UP -- like the pen
in Ray's experiment.

EXT. ATLANTIC OCEAN - DAY

The explosion lifts a TOWER OF WATER into the skies. Superman


and Flash leave.

EXT. COMPOUND - SANCTUARY - DAY


Our heroes reunite, including Green Lantern this time. They
see Superman coming from the skies with Flash. As they land,
Green Lantern HUGS Flash unexpectedly.
GREEN LANTERN
I knew you were going to nail that
thing!

WONDER WOMAN
You did well, Flash.
Congratulations.

THE FLASH
I couldn't have done it without you
guys.

Amanda Waller approaches them, Ray follows.


WALLER
So, what happened to the beast?

SUPERMAN
It's dead in the depths of the
ocean.
138.

THE FLASH
But what if Starro returns? Or if
others like it appear threatening
us all again?
WONDER WOMAN
The world would need a line of
defense that can handle this kind
of threat.

J'ONN
Like us.

The heroes exchange looks, matching ideas.


AQUAMAN
You are suggesting a group?

SUPERMAN
A league.

CAMERA BEGINS TO PULL BACK, ascending into the heavens as


only one VOICE is heard in the scene.
WONDER WOMAN (V.O.)
We are not here to curse the
darkness or exterminate them from
The Earth. We are here to guide
this nation through them...

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. HOSPITAL ROOM - DAY


Green Lantern creates 3D ENERGY TOYS for sick children. They
rejoice as we keep hearing...
WONDER WOMAN (V.O.)
... and show everyone that yes,
there is hope and that is worth
fighting for it.
DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. CENTRAL CITY HALL - DAY

The MAYOR of Central City hands the Key of the City to the
Flash. The citizens applaud him in unison.

WONDER WOMAN (V.O.)


It may seem difficult at first, but
all we ask, is your confidence...

Superman, Aquaman and J'onn are on stage. Superman speaks to


the audience.

Ray wears a HIGH-TECH BELT.

Crouched among the gargoyles on the edge of a building,


Batman examines a PLAYING CARD in his hands.
WONDER WOMAN (V.O.)
... because the world is changing.
And the darkness come along this
change...

He turns the card over. It is a JOKER.


WONDER WOMAN (V.O.) (CONT'D)
... and we will not let them
overlap our light...

EXT. ALLEY - DAY


J'onn, hidden in the shadows of an alley, sees the intense
movement in the streets.

He then MORPHS -- assuming a HUMAN FORM. JOHN JONES. He walks


out of the alley, mingling in the crowd.

WONDER WOMAN (V.O.)


While there is a breath of
life in our bodies, we will never
let it happen.

EXT. DESERT CLIFF - DAY
