Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral infection, found in
tropical and sub-tropical climates worldwide, mostly in urban and semi-urban areas. The virus responsible for causing dengue, is called dengue virus (DENV). There are 5 ways to prevent the dengue virus. Firstly, we have to prevent mosquito habitats. We have to eliminate unnecessary containers that can collect water and make sure our drain is not clogged and full of trash because mosquitos like to breed there. In addition, we can also keep our doors and windows closed as much as possible, or invest in insect screens. Besides that, wear long sleeves and bright clothes to protect our skin from mosquito bites. Avoiding areas that are prone to mosquitoes is also a way to prevent dengue. Lastly, on weekends we can do communal work with our family members to keep our environment clean by picking up trash and composting all of our biodegradable waste or we can send it to the recycling centre. In conclusion, we to be vigilant of our surroundings and always keep clean. As a reminder, dengue is a deadly virus and we could lose our loved ones because of it.
