Guidelines for Written Research Journal Group Report

1. Each group will comprise five (5) students.


2. Each student will search for a:

- research (experimental) article in Bacteriology. Review articles are NOT acceptable.


Prevalence or incidence reports are NOT acceptable.

- published in a Scopus- indexed or Web of Science (Clarivate or ISI or Thomson Reuter)-


indexed journal. See for example the publications of the American Society for
Microbiology at American Society for Microbiology (asm.org).

You can google Scimago to see if the journal is Scopus-indexed or Clarivate Master List of
Journals to check if the journal is indexed in the Web of Science

- published in the year 2016 or later

3. The members in each group will meet to decide which one among the five (5) articles will be
reported.

4. The chosen article will be submitted to the faculty for approval no later than May 22, 2023,
5:00pm.

On the first page of the article, indicate the following:


Group number, Group members (complete names), Section

5. Submit the chosen article through CANVAS ASSIGNMENT

Preparation of the Research Journal Group Report

1. Each group will prepare a journal summary for submission no later than Jul 24, 2023,
5:00pm, which is two (2) weeks before the start of the final exam week (Aug 7 to Aug 12,
2023) through CANVAS ASSIGNMENT.

2. Submit ONE written report per group.


3. Submit through CANVAS ASSIGNMENT.

4. Similarity reports will be generated through Turnitin. Please do not just copy paste.
Understand the article and synthesize. Prepare the report using your own words and good
English. Mind your grammar and the coherence of the composition. Edit your report before
submission

1.5 spacing
Maximum of five (5) pages (excluding the Cover page and the page with the additional
references)

1. Cover Page of the Report. The Cover Page is NOT part of the 5-page maximum limit.

1.2. Authors of the article

1.3. Name of the Journal

1.4. Volume and Issue Number (if available)

1.5. Page numbers of the article in the journal

1.6. DOI if available.

1.7. Year of Publication

1.8. Group number and Group Members

2. Introduction

2.1. Background of the study


2.2. Problem of the study
2.3. Objectives of the study

3. Research design and methodology


Details of the procedures should NOT be included.
4. Results
Include tables and figures. Choose only those included in your report.

5. Analysis, interpretation, and discussion of results

6. Conclusion

Your report is a summary of the article. In this light, you may or may not include tables and
figures, which can be copied and pasted in your report. Include only those that you referred to
in your summary.

7. In case you included information from other articles, include these references under the
Heading:

Other References Cited

This is likewise NOT part of the 5-page limit.

Each member will identify and rate his/her group mates in terms of their contributions and
involvement. I will inform you how to submit the evaluations.

The scale for the scores to be given to your groupmates is as follows:


0- unresponsive or no contribution or unsatisfactory contribution
1- satisfactory: submitted his/her assigned part
2- very satisfactory: submitted his/her assigned part, participated during the discussions
3- excellent: submitted his/her assigned part, participated during the discussions, very
enthusiastic, gave suggestions, gave insights, significantly contributed to the synthesis of
the paper.
