WORKSHOP PRACTICE

CHAPTER 2
Shifting Spanner

Use
• Also called an adjustable spanner or
an adjustable crescent is a tool, which
can be used to loosen or tighten a nut

or bolt.
Crimping tool
Use

• A crimping tool is a device used to

conjoin two pieces of metal by
deforming one or both of them to hold
each other. The result of
the tool's work is called a crimp. An
example of crimping is affixing a
connector to the end of a cable.
Side Cutter
Use

• Side cutters are used on wire and the

leads of electronic components, as well as
to strip insulation. Stripping refers to
safely removing the outer layer without
damaging the conductors underneath.

• Cutting of wire (they are generally not

used to grab or turn anything).
Pliers

Use
• Used for gripping something round
like a pipe or rod, some are used
for twisting wires, and others are
designed to be used for a combination
of tasks including cutting wire.
Tongue and Groove Plier

Use
• Used for turning and holding nuts and
bolts, gripping irregularly shaped

objects, and clamping materials.

Krone Tool

Use
• Punch down tools or krone tools (named after
the Krone LSA-Plus connector) are widely
used for copper network built by Ethernet
cables including cat 5, cat 5e, cat 6, etc. As we
know, these copper cables can be connected
with keystone jacks, cross-connect blocks,
patch panels and surface mount boxes.
TORX Screw Drivers

Use
• Torx screws are typically used in
vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, computer
systems, hard disk drives and consumer
electronics. The unusual star-shaped head
makes them far more secure than regular
flat-head or cross-head screws and allows
higher torque transmission so screws and
bolts can be tightened more securely.
Flat-Head Screw Driver
Use

• Used to tighten or loosen screws

that have a straight, linear notch
in their heads. ... This flat tip is
perfectly sized to fit into a screw
with a straight head slot with a
corresponding shape
Star Screw Drivers

Use
• Tightens screw that has a slot with
another one at ninety degrees from it,
in the shape of a cross

are used as electrocardiograms, to test
circuits and to troubleshoot electronic

A common use is to test the response of
circuits to a known input signal.
