THEORIES/PRINCIPLES
Electronics and Electrical work require the use of a variety of hand tools
and equipment. Some of these tools are fairly common and are used in many
tasks.
Others are tools that are specially designed for use in soldering, cutting,
boring, enlargement of holes, cable splicing, etc.
Standard Screw Drivers – there are many sizes of screwdrivers. The
length determines the particular use of the tool and the size of the blade
is determined by the size of the screw to be tightened or loosened.
There are two basic type of screwdrivers.
Flat Blade or Standard Screw Driver – are commonly used for
mounting tube sockets and other parts of the chassis. All screwdrivers
used in electrical and electronic works are insulated by plastic or
hardwood handle.
Philip Screw Driver– is made with a specially shaped blade that fits
cross-slots screws. The tip has two slots cut across the center of the
screwdriver.
Long Needle Nose Plier – a plier which has long slender jaws for
reaching into hard-to-get-tight places and is also used to hold small
parts wires or hardware.
Long Chain Nose Plier – is used for
bending and forming fine wires and
holding small parts.
Mechanical Wire
Strippers – these tools
are used to strip the
insulation from a wire.
Adjustable Self-Adjustable
Thermal Wire Strippers – these
tools are used heat a wire to strip
insulation from the wires. With
this type of stripper, there is no
chance of nicking the wire.
Soldering Iron and Soldering Gun– soldering iron is ready to be used
after a few seconds after being turned on. A soldering gun uses power
only during work. It has a thin tip that is ideal for working a crowded
television or radio chassis.
Anti-Wicking Tool – is used to
prevent solder from running under
the insulation on a wire.
