1 Look quickly at the blog. What is special about Raquel’s family?

My awesome family
Hi! My name is Raquel, and this is a picture of my mom’s big,
beautiful family. That’s me in the middle with my grandma and
my grandpa – he’s the one with the black cowboy hat. My dad
has a white cowboy hat. The woman next to him with the Me!
beautiful smile is my mom. She’s with my little sister, Gabriela.
All the other children and teenagers in the photo are my
cousins. How many are there? Twenty! That’s because my mom has four sisters and five brothers, but not all my
aunts and uncles are in this photo. My grandparents have 22 grandchildren: 12 granddaughters and ten grandsons.

What’s life like in a large family? There are many cool things. We all live near each other, so there is always
someone to play with. We share everything – our toys, our clothes, and sometimes even our food. We also have
great parties. Dinnertime is a little noisy. And the children sometimes get angry at each other, but we always talk
and quickly forget all about it. At school, the teachers sometimes don’t remember our names!

2 Read the blog. Match 1–5 with A–E.

 1 Raquel A 20 cousins.
2 Raquel has B has 22 grandchildren.
3 Raquel’s mom has C five brothers and four sisters.
4 Raquel’s grandpa D has one sister.
5 Raquel’s dad E is next to Raquel’s mom.

3 Read the blog again. Complete the

table with things that are good and
not so good about big families.
