UK and Republic of Ireland in 2012. Units are measured in percentage.

Overall, it is worth highlighting that moneys spent for comedy films was the highest,
followed closely by horror, then biophic and drama films, while the opposite was true
for other genres.

In 2016, 26 comedies were released, accounting for close to a half of the total revenue
from ticket sales. The number of documentaries and drama reached the same percentage
of all releases. In contrast, the data of ticket sales was sharply different at the rate of
2.9% for documentaries and 8.3% for dramas. The premiere of five romantic films
generated the lowest percentage of ticket sales by 0.8% of all revenue. There were 14
horror movies released, one more than thrillers and roughly twice as many as the
remaining genres combined.
