Why is there a need to study the life works of Rizal?

Reasons why Rizal was chosen and declared as Philippine National Hero?

Rizal is our nation's hero because he is the one to use his pen and paper to fight the independence of
our nation and to expose the different forms of abuse, violence, and maltreatment being done by the
colonizers “Spaniards” to the Filipinos.

Rizal gave us freedom by using goodness. Jose Rizal became the Philippine national hero because he
fought for freedom in a silent but powerful way. He expressed his love for the Philippines through his
novels, essays and articles rather than through the use of force or aggression.
