    A 33-year-old female presented with bilateral neck swelling. Fine needle aspiration of the swelling was performed and smears showed follicular thyroid cells in sheets and acini within a lymphoid background, along with occasional ill-formed granulomas and follicular cells with large nuclei and eosinophilic cytoplasm. The cytopathology is suggestive of subacute granulomatous thyroiditis based on the microscopic findings. Clinicoradiological correlation was advised.

    CYTOPATHOLOGY REPORT

    GROSS: Aspiration done from bilateral neck swelling. Blood mixed material aspirated. Four
    smears made and stained with Leishman and H&E stains.

    MICROSCOPIC: Smears show follicular cells in sheets and acini in a predominant lymphoid
    background. Occasional ill formed granulomas are also seen. A few follicular cells show
    larger nuclei with abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm.

    Bethesda Category: II (Benign)

    COMMENT: Cytomorphology is suggestive of SUBACUTE GRANULOMATOUS THYROIDITIS.

    Advise:- Clinicoradiological correlation
