Teaching Methodology:
Demonstration followed by hand on experiments
Course Objectives:
After successful completion of this course students will have skills to
 Solve for resultant of any force systems
 Analysis of moments and force system resultant
 Draw and label free body diagram
 Analyze particle equilibrium
 Determine equivalent force system
 Analyze rigid body equilibrium
 Determine internal forces and moments in simple trusses and beams
 Solve mechanical problems associated with frictional forces
 To verify statics and dynamics laws through experimental values and
calculate required unknown variables
 To develop basic ideas and practical experience about static and dynamic structures most
commonly used in mechanical engineering through performance of experiments.
