Background information:

Name: Eman Mohamed Omar.

Age:22.
Nationality: Egyptian.
Mother tongue: Arabic.
Current level of English: Elementary.
- She has graduated from faculty of commerce.
- Her motivation for learning English: She wants to learn English just because
she totally knows that English is very important these days in all fields of work.
- She thinks that she needs to be able to improve her speaking and writing
skills rather than reading or listening because she says whenever she applies
for a job she needs to complete a form in Arabic and English, so it is a big
problem for her to complete the form in English.
- Her learning styles and preferences: She is a visual learner and she also
prefers self-study.
- Her previous experiences of learning English: Her first experience was when
she attended some sessions in one of the language centres before but she
didn't benefit because the teacher there was speaking too much in Arabic.
After that, she joined another language centre and felt she started to learn but
she had to travel with her father to Saudi Arabia, the country where he works.
She attended the course for only one month so she felt she did not learn a lot
but anyway she said it was good experience despite being short.

My teacher always gives us homework!

My teacher all way gives us homework!
My teacher gives us always homework!

i) one classroom activity :

Find someone who... (Designed by: Mohamed Elsaber Arafa.

The reason why I chose that activity is because students will use the adverbs
of frequency in their language.

Each student is given a sheet of paper which has the question " How often do you
………..? Each student goes around the classroom and asks his classmates that
question.

For example: How often do play tennis? His friend says: I

always/sometimes/often………..play tennis or I never play tennis. Each student
needs to write the name of his friend in case they play and if they never play; their
names aren't written and so one. After that, each student talks about his classmates.
For example: My classmate …….. Sometimes /always/often ….. Plays tennis and so
on.

Practice the sounds side-by-side

Remember to voice the B sound and use a puff of air for the P
sound!

B P
cub cup
back pack
bit pit
bubble purple
lobby happy

Now say these sentences out loud.

The P sounds are in blue. The B sounds are in green:

1) The big puppy barks.

2) The boy was happy.

3) Ride your bicycle to the top.

4) Bob should stop at the library.

5) We ate purple blueberry pie.

One classroom activity:

If the number of students are 12, Draw a big “p” on 6 pieces of green paper,
and draw a big “b” on 6 pieces of red paper. Hand all the pieces of paper out
to your students. Now teacher reads words from his list of minimal pair words.
If he reads a word that has a /p/, the students with the green pieces of paper
should hold them up. Or if he reads a word with a /b/, the students with red
papers should hold them up. This activity is active listening and perception.
The students have something to do (hold up the papers) and they can get
some help from others (by looking around at the other students holding
papers) if they’re not sure of themselves.
The teacher can get good feedback. He can make sure every student is
participating, and he can easily see which students are catching on. If a
student is hesitating and looking around before putting their pieces of paper
up, he knows they need a little bit more practice. The goal is for every student
to hold up the correct piece of paper as quickly as possible.

Skills needs (reading/listening/writing/speaking):

- As I have mentioned before she needs to improve her writing skill so that
she can complete a form about herself in English. Because whenever she
applies for a job, an information form needs to be completed in English.
