A Community Based Study to find the Profile, Risk Factors and Outcome of People Affected

with COVID-19.

Abstract

Background

The novel Corona Virus emerged to be a deadly nightmare that posed a challenge to
preparedness and capacity to deal with pandemics. Since its inception in India, healthcare
infrastructure and health policies were tested in real sense. As the disease profile was
constantly mutating and newer manifestations were arising, we decided to conduct a survey
to assess its outcomes and dealing capacity at the grass root level of local community.

Methods

The research is based on descriptive design with the population being residents of semi urban
area of Kudi, Jodhpur. Sample size was take as hundred, followed by convenient sampling
method and data was collected only from those who were affected with COVID-19. Survey
tool developed for this study had two sections, assessing the demographic profile of
participants and aspects of COVID-19.

Results

Most of the families were nuclear in size and majority of them had all the members getting
affected with COVID-19. Hypertension and diabetes were prominent comorbidities that
surfaced up. The cases had to be managed at hospitals with minimal admissions in ICU. As
per the disease profile, most seen manifestations fever, cough, fatigue, rhinorrhea and mild,
breathing problems. The post COVID-19 symptoms were seen, but weakness was the only
common trait among all. Mass vaccination drives did limit the impact and slight oxygen
support also worked to help manage cases.

Conclusion

During the initial impact of COVID-19, healthcare infrastructure had to be upgraded and the
damage control steps did work well. This study can be replicated on a mass level to gain
insights about better ways to manage diseases and also assess as how it impacts people in a
vast manner.
