PERSONAL

FOREIGN LITERATURE

Students' career choices were influenced by their grades, ages, personal interests, and
experiences, among other factors, and it was through their educational experiences that these students
determined what they wanted to accomplish in their future careers (Quinter et al., 2011).

It entails the exchange of a large number of intricately intertwined components. According to

Nyamwange (2016), a student's current circumstances, gifts, abilities, and scholarly achievements all
influence career choice.

FOREIGN STUDY

Career success of students’ can be best attained if the strand selected is suited to the innate
ability and intellect, and personality of students with the proper guidance of school in choosing the right
career in senior high and college (Pascual, 2014).

Having background knowledge about the career is essential in building an interest towards the
career (Nyamwange, 2016).

LOCAL STUDY

Graduating students from secondary schools may not have solid decision on where to go in
college and what degree program they may possibly take. They are planning to enter college without
clear idea of what career to pursue for their future (Ramirez & Dizon, 2014).

LOCAL LITERATURE

In choosing a strand it’s not easy because some students based their decision- making on their
passion or on practicality. Some students follow their parents to choose a strand for their children as
cited in Passion- based vs. Practical- based Preference of Strand in Senior High School (Lovely
Magdadaro,2020).

In career selection, students have to undergo an intricate process, where they should consider
factors that would affect their overall decision such as the sociodemographic profile, socio-economic
status, parents, job opportunities, academic performance, personal interest, and many other aspects to
forcefully be open-minded of the things they will encounter in the not-too-distant future (Moneva &
Malbas, 2019; Santric-Milicevic et al., 2014).

The choice of career of the students is being influenced by some factors from the social environment,
mainly the parents as immediate family who plays an active role in choosing the right education for their
children (Pafili & Mylonakis, 2011). As a sign of respect for the parents and culture of the Filipinos,
parents or the elderly are being consulted first by their children because primarily they will be the one
to provide the financial support to enter in college (Laguador, 2013).
With the curricular offerings of private colleges and universities which are almost identical programs
makes diversification very difficult (Vaz & Mansori, 2013). Therefore, the competitive edge, uniqueness
and quality must be established in educational marketing through image building while helping and
guiding the parents towards the achievement of their desire for the success of their children.
