Make sure you merchandise kit is ready

Read through the instructions on how to use Square and properly charge and
log merchandise being sold AHEAD of your event.

Print your own materials

You may print your own materials from our website
here. You may also choose to have these printed off
by a business. If you are unable to find someone
local and affordable, vista print is a great option.

TIP: Instead of asking local printing businesses

to donate their services, ask for them "at cost".
This way you can support local businesses and
5

they might be more apt to donate their time if materials are paid for.

How to’s:
Decorate your booths -
● Space out materials so awareness booth viewers are not overwhelmed
while trying to learn about O.U.R.
● Use a tablecloth in white, black, or O.U.R color scheme. You can display

Make your booths kid-friendly -

● Use our printable materials to keep
kids engaged while their
parents/guardians are learning about
O.U.R. and human trafficking.
● Have one person that is facilitating the
awareness booth focus on online
safety.
○ If you have an ipad or computer
you can use this training here.
This training is quick and user
friendly for children.

STEP 4: TALKING POINTS - FAQs

What is Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.)?
6

Operation Underground Railroad is a 501(c) 3 non-profit

organization focusing on reducing and eliminating child sex
trafficking.
What is O.U.R.'s Mission Statement?
We exist to rescue women and children from sex trafficking and sexual
exploitation.
What is the O.U.R. promise?
To the children who we pray for daily, we say:
Your long night is coming to an end.
Hold on. We are on our way.
And to those captors and perpetrators,
even you monsters who dare offend God's
precious children, we declare to you:
Be afraid. We are coming for you.
Who is our Founder and C.E.O.?
Timothy Ballard
Why are we called Operation Underground Railroad?
The Underground Railroad was a network of secret routes
and safe houses established in the United States during
the early to mid 19th century. They were used by African
American slaves to escape into free states and Canada
with the aid of abolitionists and allies who were
sympathetic to their cause. The original Underground
Railroad was a group that acted and infiltrated.
You can hear our Founder and CEO Tim Ballard talk more
extensively about why we are named after the
Underground Railroad here.

What is the process?

What is human trafficking?

“Human trafficking involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some
type of labor or commercial sex act. Every year, millions of men, women, and
children are trafficked worldwide – including right here in the United States. It
can happen in any community and victims can be any age, race, gender, or
nationality. Traffickers might use violence, manipulation, or false promises of
well-paying jobs or romantic relationships to lure victims into trafficking
situations.” (Department of Homeland Security, Blue Campaign)

What is child sex trafficking?

“Child sex trafficking refers to the recruitment, harboring, transportation,

provision, obtaining, patronizing, or soliciting of a minor for the purpose of a
commercial sex act. Offenders of this crime who are commonly referred to as
traffickers, or pimps, target vulnerable children and gain control over them
using a variety of manipulative methods. Victims frequently fall prey to
traffickers who lure them in with an offer of food, clothes, attention,
friendship, love, and a seemingly safe place to sleep. After cultivating a
relationship with the child and engendering a false sense of trust, the
trafficker will begin engaging the child in prostitution, and use physical,
emotional, and psychological abuse to keep the child trapped in a life of
prostitution. It is common for traffickers to isolate victims by moving them far
away from friends and family, altering their physical appearances, or
continuously moving them to new locations. Victims are heavily conditioned
to remain loyal to the trafficker and to distrust law enforcement. No child is
immune to becoming a victim of child sex trafficking, regardless of the child’s
race, age, socioeconomic status, or location, and every child involved in this
form of commercial sexual exploitation is a victim.” (Department of Justice)
