The Cyber law definition says it is a legal


system designed to deal with the Internet,
computing, Cyberspace, and related legal
issues.
Encompasses aspects of intellectual property,
contract, jurisdiction, data protection laws,
privacy, and freedom of expression.

It dictates all actions and reactions in


Cyberspace.
All online transactions are ensured to be safe
and protected
All online activities are under watch by the
Cyber law officials.

Conventional laws are those laws which are come
out of agreement among different nations on
specific issue which can be environment,
terrorism or even cyber crime.
A special law and has its source in the agreement
of those who are subject to it.

Conventional laws example:


Stating that spreading false news by electronic
means should be punished. To prevent this problem
all country agreed to use the same act/law.

a. Digital Signature Act 1997

Digital signature is an electronic signature used to


verify the identity of the sender/ signer of a message
and also to ensure the correctness and validity of
information in electronic transactions.
The use of recognized digital signature can fulfil
requirements of confidentiality, identity
authentication, non-repudiation, and integrity of an
information.
b. Computer Crimes Act 1997

An Act to provide for offences relating to the misuse


of computers.
Among others, it deals with unauthorised access to
computer material, unauthorised access with intent
to commit other offences and unauthorised
modification of computer contents.
It also makes provisions to facilitate investigations
for the enforcement of the Act.
c. Telemedicine Act 1997

An act to provide for the regulation and control of the


practice of telemedicine; and for matters connected
therewith.
The Telemedicine Act 1997 is intended to provide a
framework to enable licensed medical practitioners to
practice medicine using audio, visual and data
communications.
To date, the Telemedicine Act has yet to be enforced.
d. Communications and Multimedia Act 1998

An Act to provide for and to regulate the converging


communications and multimedia industries, and for
incidental matters.
Provides a regulatory framework to cater for the
convergence of the telecommunications, broadcasting and
computing industries, with the objective of, among others,
making Malaysia a major global centre and hub for
communications and multimedia information and content
services.
