CLO-2: Analyse different thermodynamic processes and parameters

Question 1: (10)

(CLO-2, C4, PLO-2)

Carbon dioxide gas (CO2) contained within a piston–cylinder assembly undergoes three processes
in series:
Process 12: Constant volume from P1 = 1 bar, V1 = 4 m÷ to state 2, where P2 = 2 bar.
Process 23: Compression to V3 = 2 m3, during which the pressure–volume relationship
is pV = constant.
Process 34: Constant pressure to state 4, where V4 = 1 m3.
Examine carefully all the processes and construct a p–V and T-s plot. Also show the processes
on a piston-cylinder diagram.
Analyze each process individually and quantify the work done and heat supplied/rejected during
each process, in kJ. Also calculate the net work done and heat supplied rejected.
