SECOND: PROFESSIONAL INFORMATION

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Al-Balqa Applied University ‫جامعة البلقاء التطبيقية‬

Review of psychometry. Air conditioning processes. Thermal comfort, Inside and outside design
conditions. Ventilation and infiltration, Heating load calculations, Solar radiation, cooling load
calculations. Water heating systems layout and design, Under floor heating system. Air ducts
systems design.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

1- Enable the students to be familiar with basic principles of function of air conditioning and their
systems.
2- To teach students how to design various components of air conditioning systems.
3- To gain confidence to think, plan and tackle air conditioning components design problems.
4- Encourage students to deal with practical and existing air conditioning systems and seek to
understand their design principle.
5- Provide good ground and confidence for work and employment in air conditioning design and
industry.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course students should be able to:

1. Understand the psychometric processes in air conditioning.

2. Use the psychometric chart as a practical tool for quick analysis and calculations in air
conditioning.
3. Appreciate the influence of external and internal conditions on the design of air conditioning
systems and comfort.
4. Be familiar with the different types and applications of air conditioning systems.
5. Carry out detailed calculations of heating and cooling loads in buildings.
6. Carry out design calculations of water and air heating systems.
7. Plan and carry out air conditioning - based experiments as well as analyze experimental
results.

REMARKS
Use of Mobile Devices, Laptops, etc. During Class, unexpected noises and movement automatically
divert and capture people's attention, which means you are affecting everyone’s learning experience if
your cell phone, laptop, etc. makes noise or is visually distracting during class. For this reason, students
are required to turn off their mobile devices and close their laptops during class.

Academic Integrity. Students, who copy assignments, allow assignments to be copied, or cheat on tests
will fail the assignment or test on the first offense, and may fail the entire course on the second.
