The Power of Responsibility: How Taking Charge of Your Education Can Unlock Your
Potential.
Education is the opportunity to show that you don’t need to have money to succeed,
and it will give you the responsibility to complete what you already started that’s what education
is all about. ‘’What you are learning in school will determine whether we as a nation can meet
our greatest challenges in the future’’. Author Barack Obama. The previous president of the
United States gave this talk to all the students in this auditorium, and his main purpose was to
encourage to succeed and to consider what was the best decision either to spend time doing his
job or waste their time.
It is understood that we as students tend to und estimate ourselves for so many reasons, but this
president present a spectacular way to see world, He did a contrast about the last generation,
and he tried to pursue the audience to let them know that all the sacrifices that they did were
worth it. for instance, he said, that he lived for a while in Indonesia, and for him was hard
because his didn’t had the economy to get him enrolled in an American school. So his mother
decided to be dedicated at least one hour a day with him, and her free time was at 4:30 A.M. It
is not easy but what I want to focus on is your dedication, in what spend more time and what
you think is precious, that will be your treasure.

In this speech, it is implied that you are the driver of your future, so this means that the
future of your country, but in this specific way, the future of America depends on you. Students
need to be globally competent. Other countries are already investing in these skills. For example,
languages help people reap economic returns in addition to cultural and social ones. Most
European countries start a first foreign language in the elementary grades and a quarter of
Australian students learn an Asian language. Only about one-half of American high school
students study a world language; the majority of these students never progress beyond the
introductory level and 70 percent study Spanish, which does not help the United States meet the
critical language needs identified by the US State and Defense Departments. Furthermore, what
you are learning in school today will you turn in whether, We are the nation can meet our
greatest challenges maybe you are the next scientist who will discover how to treat cancer or
even cure cancer, so quit it’s not an option, and the reason is because when you decide to leave
things as an American you’re leaving your country because and you are in Acting like you haven’t
get the impact that your choices can result. We need every single view to develop your talents
and your skills and your intellect so you can help us old folks solve our most difficult problems, it
is important to understand that this is a hard subject and it doesn’t depend on you, so that’s why
to receive all the help from your teachers, and counselors.

Throughout his talk, the mainly purpose was to inspire, and one of the sources that he is
using right now is his background for instants he was telling that he was not proud of some
choices and decisions that he made when he was at school but I at that point it seemed funny
and not relevant, but thankfully there was a second chance to fulfilled what he was meant to be.
As humans we have challenges, there are hard challenges and also extra hard ones, but it will be
your attitude and how you face your situations in life, that will determine your strength and
future.

Nowadays, young people struggle to succeed, they have a pressure on them, but is totally
necessary, and they have all the tools and ideas to create and develop themselves, but
sometimes they don’t see it. For example, President Obama gave some names, there was one of
the students that were at the school, and she had this barrier, language, but the highest was that
his parent hadn’t gone to college, so he decided to persist, and no matter what it takes she will
succeed.
Now he got a scholarship at a prestigious university, but just imagine that instead of being
persistent he decided to drop everything and do whatever he wanted then, the result would be
different, there is another student who suffered and had all the troubles to finish high school, he
was diagnosed with brain cancer since he was 3 years old, but his family and he himself decided
to continue with his life, can you imagine that at the moment this cancer affect his memory so it
was more than difficult to persist. Now all of these stories tell us to be persistence with our
goals, it tells us that challenges are present, but going beyond of that looking forward and not at
the moment that you are, because our focus needs to be in our goal.

Set goals for your education, no matter how simple they are, you need to have vision of
your future, for instance, if you want to read a book about something that you like, then read it,
but do it till the end, or if you want to have enroll in an extracurricular activity, do your best to
be noticed by your own and others, or if you want to be a volunteer in your community, those
kind of responsibilities helps to create a relationship between the people and see how important
it is when you are committed to society. Now, it seems that your choices can’t affect your future,
and this what tv shows and society wants you to believe, but in order to make it, you will have to
pay a price that not everybody wants to do. You can be a soccer player, or a basketball player,
but those chances are in a high level, and this doesn’t mean that you can reach it, it means that
if you don’t get the chance, you have a second opportunity to continue with your life.

Failure doesn’t define you; President Obama gave some examples about it. for instance, Jk
Rowling had failed a lot, some people denied that she had the talent to write stories, but she
persist in what she really want to do. Michael Jordan is another example of what failures are, but
you what is the best part that he says that if he hadn’t failed, he wouldn’t be successful. Failures
shows how to do things and then your perception is changed and in the next time you will
remember what to do.
Remember, this is your life, and your mistakes will be only mistakes if you keep trying, it doesn’t
matter if you always get bad grades, this is what you to focus, focus on this principle, if you
persist in what you want, then you will have it. This is because if you are bad in something what
you need to do is practice, look at the athletes they run all the days of the week to be prepared
and do their best, and maybe they are too prepared, but they lose, but they persist. So, the key
is to be persistence.

the demands of the global economy, saying, “The source of America's prosperity has never
been merely how ably we accumulate wealth, but how well we educate our people. This has never
been truer than it is today. In a 21st-century world where jobs can be shipped wherever there's an
Internet connection, where a child born in Dallas is now competing with a child in New Delhi,
where your best job qualification is not what you do, but what you know—education is no longer
just a pathway to opportunity and success, it's a prerequisite for success.”
The future is here. It’s global, multicultural, multilingual, and digitally connected. If we put the
world into world-class education, not only will we be more successful and innovative in the
global economy, but we will also lay an important foundation for peace and a shared global
future.
