(b) Connect external electrical power to aircraft. See Connection of External Electrical
Power to Aircraft, 24-40-00, Maintenance Practices.

ADC 1 Cockpit overhead AIR DATA
ADC 2 Cockpit overhead AIR DATA
ALTIMETER 1 Cockpit overhead AIR DATA
ALTIMETER 2 Cockpit overhead AIR DATA
A/S & MACH PILOT Cockpit overhead AIR DATA

B. Procedure
NOTE: The following procedure is used in conjunction with Figure 501.
(1) Operational Test
(a) After 2 minutes, ensure altimeter flag, Mach / airspeed indicator flag, preselector
altitude indicator flag and vertical speed indicator flag are out of view.
(b) On pilot altimeter press and hold test button. Ensure pointer slews to 750 feet.
(c) Release test button. Ensure indicator pointer returns to previous reading.
(d) Using barometric scale knob, set scale to 29.92 in. Hg. Ensure barometer set digit and
altitude pointer respond to knob movement.
(e) Pull knob out. Ensure scale reading is now 1013 mb.
(f) Push knob in.
(g) On Mach / airspeed indicator press and hold test button. Ensure indicator warning flag
is in view, Mach display blanked and IAS / VMO pointers indicate 300 knots for 1

second; then return to 0 knots.

(h) Rotate test knob. Ensure IAS pointer bug moves.
(i) On preselector altitude alert press and hold ALT ALERT light switch. Ensure ALT ALERT
lamp comes on and alerter warning flag is in view.
(j) Release ALT ALERT light switch. Ensure ALT ALERT lamp goes out and alerter warning
flag is out of view.
(k) On front of air data unit press and hold test button. Ensure ADC FAIL amber
annunciator comes on for 1/2 second and then goes off and green VALID lamp comes
on. Ensure SAT / TAS display goes blank.
(l) Release test button. Ensure SAT / TAS display returns to normal.
(m) Repeat Step 1.B.(1)(k) and Step 1.B.(1)(l) with weight on wheel logic disabled. Ensure
self-test is disabled.
(2) Functional Test
NOTE: The following functional test procedure eliminates the necessity of complying with
FAR 91.411(a)(2) Static System Leak Test because the static system will not have
been disconnected. If the existing air data system functional test is to remain, the
requirement for FAR 91.411(a) and (b) should be included due to Step 1.B.(1)(a)
and Step 1.B.(1)(l).
(a) Seal off lower forward static port on right side of aircraft.
(b) Connect air data test set static source to upper forward static port on left side of aircraft
and pitot source to left pitot head.
(c) Turn on air data test set and slowly set airspeed for 250 knots and altitude of 1000 feet.
Ensure pilot Mach / airspeed indicator reads 250 knots and altimeter reads 1000 feet.
(d) Adjust air data test set for 10,000 feet altitude at a 1000 feet per minute rate of climb.
Ensure pilot altimeter is climbing and vertical navigation indicator reads 1000 feet per
minute climb.
(e) After pilot altimeter stabilizes at 10,000 feet, set altitude preselect alert to 10,000 feet.
(f) Set air data test set to an altitude of 10,350 feet. As pilot altimeter passes through
10,300 feet altitude alert lamp flashes intermittently and audio signal sounds for 1
second.
(g) Adjust air data test set to 8500 feet. The altitude alert lamp remains flashing and audio
signal sounds for one second as altimeter descends through 9700 feet.
(h) When pilots altimeter reaches 8500 feet, cancel altitude alert lamp by pressing reset.
(i) Adjust air data test set for 10,500 feet. The altitude alert lamp comes on steady at 9000
feet and goes off at 9700 feet. As altimeter climbs through 10,300 feet, altitude alert
lamp flashes intermittently and audio signal sounds for 1 second.
(j) Reduce altitude to ground level and airspeed slowly to zero.
C. Follow On
(1) Inspect for presence of foreign objects.
(2) Disconnect external electrical power from aircraft. See Disconnection of External Electrical
Power From Aircraft, 24-40-00, Maintenance Practices.

(3) Turn off air data test set and disconnect it from aircraft.
(4) Remove seal from lower forward static port on right side of aircraft.
(5) Record all maintenance actions in accordance with current governing authority.
