• A Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) is a
document that contains information on the
potential hazards (health, fire, reactivity and
environmental) and how to work safely with
the chemical product. It is an essential starting
point for the development of a complete
health and safety program.
• A material safety data sheet is valid up to 3
years
• It is also called SDS
MSDS Label
• Blue is for health related hazards
• Red is for flammability
• Yellow is for Reactivity
• White is for special reason

• In this label you give a rating of 1 to 4


according to its hazard
Section 1

• In this section you provide basic information


about the product like its name ,chemical name
, formula & its use
Section 2

• Section 2 deals with its ingredients used to


make the product, weight of the ingredient
used in the product and the exposure limit of
that ingredient used in the product
Section 3
Section 3 deals with the physical data of the
product

1. Melting point
2. Bowling point
3. Is it soluble in water
4. Appearance and ordure
Section 4

• In this section you write the flash point of the


material, what fire extinguisher to use and is
there a need for a special fire fighting
procedure in case of a fire
Section 5

This section simply deals with the first aid


procedures in case of a emergency due to to
that product
Section 6

• This section deals with how the product reacts


with humans and other materials or any
conditions to avoid
Section 7

1. What steps should be taken if the material is


leaked
2. What is the waste disposal method?
Section 8 and 9

1. What respirator protection should be taken


while working with the product
2. What sort of ventilation and PPE should be
used
3. How to store and handle the material
